I truly hope those men didn't get their boots full of that nasty stuff. Just thinking about it is enough to make my stomach turn. Best of luck to the both of them and thank you for your service.

Furthermore, ammonia systems are usually constantly monitored by people 24/7. I don’t understand how this happens. Of course, I do work for a company that will not take short cuts, ever. So we often don’t get jobs that end up in disaster later. Usually get what you pay for

Ammonia systems are definitely not “monitored by people 24/7” at least as far as the fertilizer industry goes we lock the valves so people can’t attempt to steal it, but we have a tank that’s 20x this size and yes there’s a camera but people don’t monitor the camera or the tank itself 24/7 that’s definitely a misnomer

@@spenc951 I know this is an old comment and I'm not trying to be a "yea but" guy buuuuuut.... I just started a job doing maintenance at a facility that makes ice cream that uses Ammonia for refrigeration and yes, the ammonia system is in fact monitored by actual humans 24/7.

"And a civilian"? Firefighters ARE civilians. What is this dumb idea in American media that misuses the word civilian?
