I'm fairly sure Hunter's hair is a grimwalker thing; Caleb's hair was always longer, and I'd hazard a guess that grimwalker magic makes them constantly grow to look more like their ortet (hence adult Hunter's square jaw, mirroring Caleb's). It'd accelerate hair growth, to make him look more like Caleb.

I think the reason her s1 undercut was green was because she wasn't the one to dye her hair, her mom was, and maybe if she did dye her own hair, just seeing the brown undercut might have rubbed odalia the wrong way, because let's be honest , she IS that petty, so she might have gone to the extreme and even had the undercut dyed, and amity did not dye her hair to look like her mom, her mom forced her to dye her hair green to match the twins and her to establish a sense of order and hierarchy in the family.

i always thought her s1 eye shape was just her not having her eyes wide open, more like she’s constantly having a bored/smug/narrowed expression, and that her eyes become wider bc shes more alive s2 forward. i say this bc my eyes do the same. when im neutral or bored my eyes arent that open and look small, but when im more awake and expressive they are bigger and rounder

For the eye shape thing, it's just that she's happier now and has more energy. You know how somtimes when someone it tired their eyelids are down a hit more? Like how your eyelids feel heavier when you're exhausted? It's like that. Now that she's a lot happier (and away from the stress of being a perfect student), she has more energy.

Amitys eye shape doesn't change, her expression changed. Look at her eyelids.

Omg someone with similar head canons.. My headcanon is that she wore heavy makeup because she wanted to be 'pretty' like her mom, but then when she rejected her, she got into her own style of makeup. A super similar headcanon: Yours: she used to wear concealer to hide her moles Mine: she used to wear foundation to hide her freckles, she has freckles EVERYWHERE, including strawberry arms and strawberry legs.

@13:57 Her eye shape doesn't actually change, though; just her common expressions do. We still see instances in season 1 where her eyes open wider and are totally round, and instances in season 2 and even 3 where they're more lidded and have that sharp angle on the outside corners. What changes is the frequency of certain types of expressions, as her personality + the types of situations we see her in shift because of her relationship with Luz, and her new/real friends. I definitely understand where your frustration comes from; inconsistencies in character design like this can break immersion at times. Such as the mystery of her hairline, or how the side profile of her face becomes more starkly angular in season 3. But I don't think her eye shape is one of those cases.

Yeah, I def agree that eye shape changes when you're expressing different emotions. What rly bothered me though was they didn't seem to have a grasp on what her default expression was, or her definite traits if that makes sense? In s1 her eye shape is constantly sharp unless she's emoting. In s2 and s3 when her eyes are almost constantly round, it made me wonder what her consistent eye shape is even supposed to be. Do the character designers even know? Her hairline, jaw, and eye shape all seem to change for no reason. This is a big problem I notice in not just amity, but a lot of the character designs. Features of people that should be consistent just randomly change? It made it seem like the character designers were just making shit up as they went on. Idk for me consistency and attention to detail is really important, but I am just over analyzing a kids show lmaooo😭😭

@@bean17magic her default expression changed as she changed as a person too, I think. she slowly learns to be herself, to want to do good, for her new friendships and for Luz, and as such her default expression relaxes more and becomes (quite literally) more open

@bean17magic Oh, and I forgot to say it in my original comment because I got so fixated on the eye thing -- I really like your designs. ^^ Feels like they could be from an alternate version of the show with a more teen/scene aesthetic. Kinda what people like about beta Amity and Luz, with a little more edge, but also a little more vibrancy. I'd love to see your Amity interact with canon Amity; see how they're similar and how they're not.

I headcanon this skrunkle with curley hair, THE DEDICATION YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE TO STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR FOR THE S1 DESIGN-

small thing, her eye shape never changed, it's just her eyes were always half closed or her eye lids were half way down or YKW WHATEVER I SUCK AT EXPLAINING. She was always trying to seem more intimidating or smth so she would change her facial expression. If you look at a close up picture of her face from season one you will notice 2 wrinkles above her eyes. Those are her eyelids and you can see them forming a more circly shape! idk sry for the paragraph, i just get annoyed when ppl say her eye shape changed lol. Other than that i freaking love your video!!! Great designs!!! :D

The reason her eyes shap changed is because when characters are more mentaly unhealthy they have more triangle shaped but when they are more healthy their eyes are more round so it was showing how much heather she is in sesame two than season one

This art is amazing! But just so you know, her eyes didn't change shape, they were just opened wider because she was happy, and her hair wasn't an undercut, it was half-up-half-down. Aside from that, though, these designs look great!

You literally fixed most [if not all] of my pet peeves with Amity's design, these are honestly amazing [s2 is my fave

So um I realized that you mentioned about her eye shape changing from season 1 to season 2, but in season one her eyes actually do look like that in some scenes, particularly when she’s happy or with luz, btw not trying to be a Karen I luv your videos, but just wanted to point that out! Your art is awessoooommeeeee

That thing you said about Hunter's hair growing out fast af actually got me thinking. Do grimwalkers' hair just grow out super fast? If that's not cannon, I'm headcannoning that now lol

S2 Amity got her doc martins from Eda because she was about to throw them away, but Amity thought they were cool and her size. Boom there's a reason.

I love how you mentioned her eyes how they got rounder and then you talk about her hair getting longer and she just like oh she's oh she's a witch what do we know and that can be saved like before lol some people's hair does grow faster and like when I watched it and found out about the stones to change your appearance I thought she was wearing that lol

10:37 omg,, THAT’S why i found the haircut so jarring! i knew i didn’t like it because of how much her forehead showed, but the hairline thing makes that make so much more sense. the hairstyle has definitely grown on me, especially after they started reducing the fivehead💀 but i still look at it oddly sometimes. EDIT: omg please redesign hunter. he’s my favorite :D! i wish we got more time with him after his development. i feel like luz has been fleshed out enough, so he would be cool :) i love your art style

the change in the eyes is due to the theory of shapes something they also used in the collector's design

I love how you kept her eyes sharp, it helps to keep her character, because I felt like she lost personality after she was redeemed.

The fast hair growth from the show can be realistic! Speaking as somebody who’s hair grows very fast I can get the same level of length as hunter in like 5-6 months

This was a really fun video to watch, I like your redisigns, I would like to nitpick something you said real quick though. You meantioned her caring a lot about her appearance in season 1 and not knowing why she would let her roots grow out as much as they did but personally I see this more as Odalia's oversight. Amity never wanted her hair dyed in the first place, it was always forced on her and she has said as much, so her roots being allowed to grow that much probably wasn't her slacking on a part of her appearance, it was probably Amity grasping on to that one bit of freedom due to Odalia not realizing how much her hair had grown out

I mean, I dyed my undercut green when I dyed my hair green. I've now died it orange and my undercut orange

i admire all the thought you put into redesigning amity!!! they all turned out so nice and it was rlly interesting to hear the reasons for why you added the details that you did to each of them :) imo i love how s2’s came out the most but they all look like they would be fun to draw

I like his character but I feel like among the main cast he has the most weakest design, not that it’s a bad design but just not as memorable in my opinion (which is why I really like his ending design) regardless I can’t wait to see what you have in store! Your take on Amity is actually really stunning and you have a valid point about her green undercut 😭

These are really cool! I love the colours you used! And while I do kinda see what you mean about Amity’s eyes in the show, I personally think that the change does make sense. There are scenes in season one where her eyes do go round like they are in season two, usually when she’s feeling a strong emotion or wearing a facial expression that’s very telling (something that doesn’t normally happen at that point in the show). So basically I think the narrow eyes are a result of her trying to mask her emotions by maintaining a constant facial expression, which would make sense given the conditions she was raised in. Anyway, love the artworks! Sorry for the tangent lol
