Amish Corn Harvest 2021
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Using the traditional corn binder, Lancaster County Amish harvest their corn to fill silos with silage. Each bundle, weighing in the neighborhood of 100 pounds, is stacked by hand on the harvest wagon and then unloaded by hand into the corn chopper. The chopper then blows the silage into the silo. Each wagonload of bound corn weighs about 4 tons. The harvest wagon is usually driven by a teenage boy or girl or sometimes a wife of one of the farmers. The men are doing the heavy work. The binder is sometimes run by a teenager or wife also.

They are bound with sisal twine. Biodegradable and plant based so it is eaten by the cows because it does go through the chopper.
buena máquina donde se pueden encontrar esta máquina en México saludos desde SLP mexico

I really wouldn’t have any idea.
It goes as fast as with big, expensive machinery!
Cool video, what happens to the corn after it is sucked into the machine?

The corn is chopped into bits and blown up into the silo. It’s own weight compacts it so there are no air pockets. In the silo the corn ferments. After fermentation it is fed to the cows.
I'm curious as well, do they save seed? Use a commercial brand of seed? Harvest any corn for meal?

Thanks for watching. Most, if not all, the field corn grown is a round up ready hybrid seed. No till farming makes that type of seed pretty much a must. These guys use all their corn for dairy cow feed. They either use it for silage like shown here or picked and ground to be mixed into the cow feed
How often do you grease the drive chains? Thx.

Rule of thumb well this is just common sense your post to grease all your chains and pivot points everytime you use the machine grease will save your ass in the long run so you don't have constant break downs

Farming take 50%of fatal accidents in Ireland 2 weeks ago a half ton bullock ( steer or Male cow ) jumped over the barrier in the sakes ring and killed a 60 yr old farmer Was it in the news ?? Not a hope But there was a story about a homeless junkie who was found dead with a syringe in his vein after overdosing Ireland 2023
I watched two of your videos... although I like the cutting method, but they all fail to show a complete procedure of doing a silage...your videos need full procedure of how to make silage in order to get more subscriptions

Thanks for watching. I don’t understand your comment. The video shows the corn being unloaded into the chopper and being chopped at the silo. Is there something I’m missing? You want a video of the fermentation process inside the silo?

@@LancoAmish your videos lack the procedure of doing silage...if you watch all silage videos on KZread, you will realise that most of them show how silage is done up to the last stage when it is complete and ready to be eating by animals. Your videos had potential to attract people due to their uniqueness, however, they fail to show the complete process hence I did not subscribe although they look good at the beginning.

Thanks for watching. Horses, no matter how well trained are unpredictable creatures.
