    It was 1985 for the Amiga 1000 and 1987 for the Amiga 500 capable of doing sample-based music Even musicians in the recording studio have used the Amiga because the Fairlight CMI was thousand times more expensive. The Amiga was a real multitasking machine and capable of true "plug and play" with it's auto configuration hardware expansion slots.

    And it had the HAM mode for 4096 colors (he missed to mention that). And he missed the fact that Amigas were famous for their graphic, animation, video features and software! For example the "Videotoaster" (modified Amiga 2000 with Lightwave 3D). And for example also Cinema4D started on Amiga and also the software that later transformed to Blender 1.0..

    PS: The Amiga chip names are derived from their functions. PAULA stands for peripherals and audio or ports and audio. The original name during the development was PORTIA. Paula controls the serial port and is also a floppy disk drive controller which is very flexible because it can also handle floppy disks from MS-DOS/IBM-PC and Apple Macintosh.

    I loved the Amiga demo scene. More than one piece of my music went into those. Because I didn't have a formal music theory background, or could play an instrument myself, I was eschewed away from it. Over 30 years later I returned to music, and now everyone is producing "in the box".

    Whats up Blezz? Dope videos on your channel , this was a great video you summed up the era with precision, I started making music on an Amiga around 1987, I started with Dynamic drums and ended using Octamed tracker, I bought the sampler and it was a very fun start to computer music. I am now using an MPCX and Maschine but I still have my amigas and fire them up from time to time, Im going to upgrade them like you did. Keep up the interesting and Amazing work!

    Hey man good to internet meet you! Couple years ahead of me then I was born in 1989 and inherited my dads C64, that's how I opened my eyes up to the demoscene and the whole shebang and eventually started geeking on the A500! I'm on Maschine too, having trouble saving the mods (opened up with corrupt samples and hours of lost work, I don't trust it) so so far I've ended up just resampling patterns from ProTracker into Maschine to have the sound intact.

    Aaaah the nostalgia. I still have mine in the garage I think. Along with the sampler your dad built me. I made lots of tracks with Sound Tracker and then Pro Tracker. Before the mod-file format was introduced, including the samples in the file, only the notes and meta data was saved. So to be able to load a song you had to shuffle them floppies to load each sample from a different disk. Extra nerd facts: The sampling was off course made through the parallel port, but the parallel port only have 5V power. The serial port however have +/-12V pins. So the cable to the serial port was only to get that extra supply to the sampler components that required 12V.

    dude, that's baddAss!!! love it. I did also wonder, could I use the Amiga like a rack sampler, and sequence externally via a MIDI interface, or are trackers really the one way to go with this machine?

  • @BlezzBeats

    @BlezzBeats

    3 жыл бұрын

    You could indeed! I have a midi interface for mine too, problem is both the interface and the sampler connect to the serial port so you'd have to either switch them out all the time or find some switch for it
