    Can you do a video on transfer partner for amex? I had called Etihad to try and get a flight in September, business-class philly to London. Only 2 seats are already chosen when I look at the flight on Americans website. Etihad said there is no seat availability?? What am I missing here? Trying to learn how to get better value rather than just using my business platinum card for portal redemptions.

    @TheCreditShifu thanks for the reply! So it is rather hard to get the reward seats then. Do you plan far in advance to get the seats, or is it more last minute they make them available? I know you fly you to London from NYC but Philly isn't far away so I'd guess it's not different.

    Deal breaker for green is that, as a travel card, amex is just not widely accepted worldwide. I find myself having to have a visa/MasterCard as a backup when traveling in case amex isn’t accepted, which is most of the time unfortunately

    I will miss the 3x on cruises on Green and that's really it with Green and my welcome offer was $2000 spend in 6 months for 50,000 MR points at the time, but I upgraded to Gold and I'm in popup jail and no eligible for the welcome bonus and took the upgrade bonus for 15,000 points for $1000 spend in 6 months. I don't have lounge access at my local airport, so LoungeBuddy would be no good and same with Clear since it doesn't have neither lounges or Clear. The 2 Green card credits are garbage. The $10 effective annual fee on Gold is a STEAL! I have more use for the Gold's credits using them on GrubHub and Uber Eats. My travel card that I can use in place of Green now for cruises is the Bilt Mastercard at 2x and at no annual fee and of course, since its a Mastercard, its more widely accepted especially more worldwide than Amex is. As a top travel Visa card, I can use my Truist bank Enjoy Cash 1.5% credit card. I went on 2 cruises in my first Green card membership year having the Green card. I can always downgrade back if I no longer get use of the Gold card credits and yes, I know about the once in a lifetime rule on welcome bonuses.

    CSP is where Chase is better despite the lower bonus - you can transfer to Hyatt which is very good value. It’s just easier not to have to wait for those bonus transfers that Amex offers. Of course if you’re a big spender and not in a rush to travel then Amex can offer great value too!

    I've never used a lounge while traveling. Are they worth it? My local airport does not have one. I've been curious, but all I ever see are really long lines of people waiting to get into them when passing through airports when I travel. The price for lounge access seems higher than going to an airport restaurant/bar with 2 people.

    Hi! Curious question, a buddy of mine said Chase business cards count towards 5/24 bc they are factored into vour 5/24 score since those cards are issued by Chase. So, if in the last 24 months, you were approved for four personal cards and one business card from Chase, you have no more slots available because you're already at 5/24. Is this true ?

  • @SectionChief

    @SectionChief

    Жыл бұрын

    Your buddy is mistaken. Chase won’t approve a new business card for you if you are 5/24, but if you received a Chase business while you were under 5/24, that card will not add to your 5/24. In other words, Chase only counts new cards on your credit report over 24 months. Since Chase Business cards do not show on your credit report Chase does not count those (even though obviously they know you have it.). So if you’re at 3/24 and add a Chase Ink type card, you’ll still be at 3/24 in the eyes of Chase after receiving that card.

    The Citi Premier gives the same point bonuses (3x dining, travel, transit, and grocery stores) and only has a $95 per year fee. Also has yearly travel credits that cover the fee. Definitely a contender in this set

  • @AdamBA380

    @AdamBA380

    Premier is definitely a contender among these. The Amex Green are both good points earners, whereas I see the CSP mostly as a means of accessing travel partners (and a very tidy sign up bonus). The only hang up I have with the Premier is that travel credit. While it’s simple, it really requires that you would normally spend quite a bit out of pocket for single hotel stay anyway to be of any real value. Now I’m sure many would, but that’s not usually me as I’m more likely to book a hotel with points.

    Ben, I am still struggling to understand, why people say that those credits offset the annual fee. Realistically, for Green card's 189$ Clear credit and 100$ loungeBuddy credit are only credited if you spend first, they are not automatic credits, like Uber credit for Gold card. I mean, you spend it first, then you get it back, as a statement credit, and then you still owe 150$ for the annual fee. How is this an annual fee offset? May be I am doing the math wrong?

    Surprisingly, an attraction for me to the Sapphire Reserve is using the $300 travel credit on an annual Christmas Airbnb booking. I'm considering timing an upgrade from CSP to CSR for August, when each year I can book my Christmas Airbnb and knock $300 off my $550 - $600 booking. I'll do a 50/50 split payment, and pay the second half with Wells Fargo Autograph points. That's one value of cashback type points: Airbnb redemptions.

The Platinum gains Green or Gold categories when you hold two, or get all three and one swipe earns all the catagories. Gold redeams one cent cash back, green redeems portal at 1.25 cents, and only Platinum transfers. Get all three for all possibilities. That's how you sell $1,100 annual fee, many would pay more.
