'Die Mauer', the song that first reveals what an amazing voice Thåström has, and the FACT, as I see it, the best voice EVER to express PAIN. I have heard that the guys in the group 'Imperiet', where Thåström was the vocalist, didn't like it at all, but IMPERIETs version of 'Märk hur vår skugga'... WOW! His voice cuts in the soul. And last but not least, Joakim Thåström singing Evert Taube's 'Briggen Blue Bird av Hull'. I cry every time I hear him singing that one.

Ebba Grön was the most succesfull of swedish punk rock bands of the 70's and 80's, most of their lyrical and melodical talents and the fact their music wasn't the most hard core. Metallica covered this song at a live concert in Gothenbourgh...I belive it was at 2017 or 2018.

Och sedan när blev Jakob Hellmans gamla popdänga "Vara vänner" en röd vänsterlåt? Samma med Joel Alme, visste inte att det var vänster med en hyllningslåt till hans favoritlag blåvitt?. Vad ska han reagera på då, Mange Schmidts gamla kampanjlåt för Moderaterna.

Jag hade väldigt gärna sett en reaktionsvideo på något med Björn Afzelius. "Ikaros" eller "Tusen bitar" hade varit kul att se. En riktig svensk legend i min mening 🙂

The song was not origin an Ebba Grön song, it was from a 70h prog band called Blå Tåget (blue train).

Very few people in Sweden know the reason behind the name Ebba Grön, but you do :)

I would like to hear your reaction to Imperiets or Cornelis Vreeswijk version of, "Märk hur vår skugga". It´s an very old song written by Carl Michal Bellman, also known as Fredmans epistel No 81. It´s an very grim sad song about an funeral of some one. The lyrics in it might sound a little bit od that is because some word is old Swedish or borrowed words from other lounges. They came from a very ruff neighborhood called Rågsved in Stockholm. A lot of drug problems there. An artist reacting to his surrondings.

Hey, don't knock Rågsved. Most of us grew up to be productive members of society, not criminals. I remember the local station from Swedish television paying teenagers to kick and punch lockers, doors and walls + scream at the camera, because they wanted a "more watchable" so called "news story", emphasis on story...

I live in Norsborg and its not a knock on Rågsved. Its a fact that Rågsved had a lot of drug problems at the time. I live in a similar typ of area.

Some phrasings where changed as inspiration struck, e.g. "together they roam the land" to sort-of rhyme with "gentle as lambs", rather than the more literal "together they roam forth".

No, no, no you should have played the original with the Blue Train. Not Ebbas Grön's predictable cover. The Blue Train's "One hand knows what the other is doing" has a certain meaning. Wallenberg, the greatest Swedish capitalist at the time, said something like "The state and capital should be two hands working independently of the other." The blue train had a distinctive style. A bit of Vaudeville or cabare music. Originally in its time with odd, distinctive singing.
