Let me tell you a little something from the eyes of a Central Albertan: People seem to think Canada is only Ontario, like come on get your heads out of your ass we know that the U.S isn't only New York We also rarely say:"Eh" I have never heard anybody call Kickball "Soccer Baseball" We know what football is btw (Go Eskimos!) Okay, we do call coloured pencils "Pencil Crayons" We spell color with a "u" We aren't addicted to Maple Syrup We most certainly do not live in igloos Yes, it is quite chilly during the winter Our meals aren't always poutine (unless your family is from Québec or the sort) We aren't always the nicest either, we can be total jackasses Most of the population in Alberta speaks only English We never call substitute teachers "supply teachers" We usually save maple syrup for the pancakes and waffles We hate most Canadian stereotypes.

What the heck. I'm Canadian and I have never heard of half these slang words. This is complete BS Like seriously, I never heard anyone say half of these. And quit freaking stereotyping us by thinking we say "eh" all the time. Out of the 500+ Canadians I talked to or seen on TV, I never heard ONCE them saying "eh" It's like saying the america fat and they are all racists (which I know is not true, it's stereotyping) SO QUIT SAYING THINGS LIKE THAT ABOUT CANADA NO WE DO NOT LIVE IN IGLOOS NO WE DO NOT HAVE POLAR BEARS (ONLY IN THE VERY NORTH) NO WE DO NOT SAY EH ALL THE TIME NO WE DO NOT EAT MAPLE SYRUP ALL THE TIME

From Ontario here. We call someone a supply teacher when their whole job is filling in for other teachers. Sometimes we'd say "sub" in verb form when regular teachers filled in for a little bit, as in; "We couldn't find a supply teacher in time, so Mr. Smith will be subbing for you this afternoon" or "Mr. May got sick so Ms. Downs subbed for the history test" but it's not used as much now for . . . reasons.

Me, a Canadian from Ontario Canada... Soccer baseball. Yes Supply teacher ( more know as just "a supply"). Yes Homo milk. Yes Other things I say/do as a Canadian. Say "Pencil crayons". "Yeah eh" or " I know eh" or "I know right" when agreeing with someone. "Sorry" for doing something, even if it is not my fault. Do Watch hockey game with my brother and leave the room when a Canadian team (vs another country) or favourite Canadian team (vs another Canadian team) is losing. Never call an educator by their last name. It's either "sir or miss" unless the situation specifies otherwise to do so. Eat ice cream products all year round. Put ketchup and syrup and almost everything. I'm a ketchup person, my brother's a syrup (maple or other) person. Glare at the computer when it corrects me for using Canadian spelling because there seems to be no options for Canadian English on KZread. It's colour, not color. T^T But that's just me............

First of all, I'm American, just making that clear. Second of all, I notice that many Canadians are saying that they've never heard/ used some of these. Some say they've heard of a couple, while others claim they've heard something else in which that person hasn't. My theory: I think these words come from different places in Canada, which would be why some Canadians have heard things that others haven't. Could someone tell me if I'm correct?

You are right, in the Atlantic provinces people do call bathrobes a houserobe but do say kickball for example. I think it's nice they picked a few from diffrent places. Also, though I agree it's annoying a lot of strangers seem to think Canada is only Ontario and only speaks English, I sure can understand the video would be too long if they showed them all the slangs there are!

Don't worry, I hope that people now see that this is the case with many of the country specific videos. There is a breakfast video that tells the viewer to make pancakes with bacon in them, fry doughnuts and substitute marshmallow cereal bars for a bowl of cereal. There were countless remarks about this being why Americans are so overweight. Those same people turned a blind eye to the many comments where Americans were offended and confused because that was new to many of us as well.
