Americans Try English Cereal

Southern People love them some cereal. We're known for our Lucky Charms and Froot Loops but we also secretly love our Raisin Bran as well. This episode we're going to TRY some less sugary cereal from our English neighbors.

Most UK cereals don’t have a load of sugar but we do usually add sugar or fruit when we eat them. Also Weetabix is the only cereal that is allowed to be displayed in landscape orientation, all others are portrait only.

Weetabix is so popular as its a good first solid breakfast food for young kids. It goes quite mushy and easy for young kids to eat. As adults it's really versatile to add various toppings to it, fresh fruit, yoghurt ect. People add alsorts to it. I'll admit whoever picked those, picked some of the blandest cereals we have 🤣 We have a lot more varieties that are similar to the sugary American types but they're likely just rebranded version svs of one's you have already (like Lays/Walkers crisps) the only difference is our cereals aren't jammed with sugar (if you look at the front of the boxes you'll see the little traffic light nutrition thing that tells you how much energy, sugar, salt ect is at a quick glance)

You can guarantee that if marketing say a product is a number one brand you know there is a catch. The catch in this case is Weetabix is a number of products and they are probably summing up those and comparing them all to single products from other companies. If you took corn flakes (Kellogs, Asda, Sainsbury's etc) and did a comparison then the results would be different. When I was a kid I used to spread butter and marmalade on a Weetabix and ate it like toast.

Ok not the best choice to represent British cereal IMHO, Weetabix is a kind of foundation cereal where you have many options to customise it, fresh fruit is popular, strawberries, banana, cranberries etc, it's great with warm milk and a sprinkle of sugar or honey. Shreddies actually soften after a few minutes in milk and it changes them entirely, they melt in the mouth and have a great malty taste. Alpen arrived here as a health food fad and was created by countries with a lot of mountain climbers and hikers and we're stuck with it!, I've never had it. Coco Pops is essentially a kids cereal, when your slogan is 'It turns the milk brown' you know it's not aimed at the health conscious!. To be fare a lot of UK cereals have added vitamins and minerals to help persuade concerned parents to buy them. I hope you guys get to try others!
