I can definitely smell coconut whenever I tear into a bar of Dairy Milk which I've never noticed before, maybe Mondolez (Kraft) are using a different recipe compared to what Cadbury's used to use. To be honest I've never read the ingredients on the back of a bar of Dairy Milk as it's usually been scoffed and the wrapper is in the bin.

If you haven’t tried them already you need to try galaxy chocolate (great with a cup of tea). Lindt balls/Lindt Easter bunnies. Drumstick lollies and they also have a ‘squashies’ version which is a chewy sweet. But honestly one of the best things you need to try is a pick’n’mix it’s a childhood favourite and something everyone I know used to get so excited about when they were kids (and still do as adults)

However, the first time I was there I discovered Reeses peanut butter cups and was hooked. When I got back home I couldn't find them in the shops, I had to order some boxes from a specialist distributor! now they are in all shops, and Hershey bars are not, so it's not just me :)

I don't know the name of the American company who bought out Cadbury's but almost immediately they tried to reduce the amount of milk in the chocolate ( which is what makes its so good!) and we Brits boycotted it as it was pretty awful compared to what we've been used to. So they realised they had to go back to original recipe. that was when they started to put some weird fillings in ( to save money) some of which are ok. I personally will only eat Cadburys best there is, better than all the Belgium chocolate I think.

Tablet is made with condensed milk, fudge with cream or clotted cream. Tablet is harder and grainier than soft fudge made with white granulated sugar, fudge with demerara sugar. Tablet is a traditional Scottish confection. To make tablet requires heating to a higher temperature than fudge, and also beating tablet is a much harder task - beat till it thickens, whereas fudge just needs beating till it loses it's shine. The less beating of fudge makes it softer. Now I have a huge craving for them.

Ironically it meant that the Anglo-American company Mars had to increase the percentage in their product otherwise they would be labelled chocolate flavour, putting them at a disadvantage to their competitors. British fudge is pretty much the same as American fudge. However, when most Americans try British fudge they try the Cadbury bar which is very odd and not really fudge. I believe this is where the confusion starts. The fudge you are eating is harder than usual because it is the prepacked kind that is wrapped and bagged. If you buy fudge that is cut to order in a sweet shop in the UK then it is much softer and comes in literally hundreds of flavours. Certain regions of England are well known for their fudge. Scottish tablet is different. It has a crumbly texture and is made with slightly different ingredients. I don't enjoy it as much as fudge.

Tablet is firm, grainy and can crumble. Fudge, ideally, is creamy and can be soft firm to firm. There are several kinds of caramel. There's the soft, runny kind, the soft runny kind that's milky looking, the hard, creamy kind and the hard, brittle kind. Then, there's toffee, which is firm and creamy. All of them can have other flavours, eg rum n' raisin fudge or treacle toffee. A lot of companies sell sweets called fudge, but if it's grainy, it's more like tablet. The UK has a million different, fantastic sweets - everything from Midget Gems, which are little jewel coloured, fruit flavoured, gummy sweets to Soor Plooms (Scots for Sour Plums), which have a sour, tangy taste . You wouldn't eat a whole bag of them. Cadbury's is made in Poland now, I think, and not that great - it's gone a bit plasticky and tasteless. There are a lot of smaller companies making much better quality chocolate in the UK (or, at least, there were) .

Tends to be more crumbly as cooked to soft ball and not hard ball temp like caramel/toffee. I think the reason why Cadbury’s from Uk tastes different is due to the milk used. 😊

My American (Michigander) wife has lived here in the U.K with me for over 20 years now. Paula (wife) will no longer even consider Hershey’s any more, which she considers a stage lower than cheap cooking chocolate even though she was brought up on Hershey’s. I occasionally buy her a blast from the past if I see a Baby Ruth or Butterfingers in the store, but over here Cadbury’s rules supreme. We take her family a whole suitcase full of British supplies whenever we visit (almost all, chocolate, gravy granules and British biscuits) So saying there are other chocolate brands of equal merit (e.g. Galaxy) but totally different. However if you want to REALLY experience chocolate heaven you need to try Swiss (not just Toblerone) or better still Belgian chocolate. Cadbury is great, really great, but not in the same league as proper Belgian chocolate (similar to the gulf between Hershey’s and Cadbury). If you want to experience heaven, do as we did and visit Cadbury World in Bourneville Birmingham. You can (and we did) spend the whole day there, learning the history of chocolate, watching new designs, seeing the bars being manufactured and ending with the glory of the gift shop... arrange a second mortgage before you go and take 3 empty suitcases with you for essential supplies (and we only live 100 miles away) Just a detail, as has been pointed out, Scotland IS part of Great Britain, as is Wales Northern Ireland and England, collectively we are the U.K. but made up of the 4 countries. Texas has its own ways and viewpoints, but is still part of the USA as a whole, see our countries in a similar way. Thanks for an interesting video, well look out for more. 👍

OK, so the fudge situation is as follows: Scottish tablet is hardest and quite brittle in the sense that it's very grainy in texture and will crumble the most. English classic fudge is a bit like tablet but a creamier texture(the texture depends on how long its mixed to create crystalization in the cooking process). Classic English fudge recipes don't use condensed milk but most modern and American ones do hence a creamier textures you're used to.

I think you are talking about Toffee. Which we also have. Toffee fudge and caramel all quite different yet similar.. toffee would be often chewy fudge is soft and caramel is gooey

We call the "crisp" inside a rice crispie. They're a British cereal (also known as rice puffs or crisped rice)

😂 you reminded me (true story) whilst swimming on holiday at a holiday camp in Norfolk (the wild duck) the pool attendant blew the whistle and demanded everyone out as there was a poo in the pool... I literally got out and said where is it then to him? And he lent over and couldn’t tell me... so I pushed him in... the other pool attendants said to me”you couldn’t have done it to anyone that deserved it more” he had his phone in his pocket.. 😂

Tunnocks caramel wafers are the bomb. Teacakes are just biscuit, squishy mallow and chocolate. You can also get coconut covered alternatives, I hate coconut so they are vom material but if you like coconut. Teacakes = Snowballs Caramel Wafer = Caramel Log
