This is the best one because this one when they have vegimite, they have an approiote amount and not an entire spoonfull.

the baby really will LOVE Vegemite if you give it to them growing up. We all grow up having munching on Vegemite on toast.

How did i not see this a year ago? This is the best box opening video I’ve seen. I was smiling all through this. I think it is so humble and wholesome that you do your videos from your baby’s nursery. And we met your wife, baby and brother!! Love it.

This was so entertaining..! Tyler described Vegemite perfectly 😂 when something is bad but good. Exactly how I feel about it. I like it. There is rarely a time when you can legitimately taste something completely different with nothing to compare it to. We do have great food. Enjoy, glad you liked everything. I believe the items with jam are somewhat influenced by our English heritage. What people are referring to with Tim Tams is you take a small bite from two corners diagonally, put one end in your warm drink, tea, coffee or hot chocolate and suck some of the drink through the Tim Tam then eat it 👌🏼 To answer Tyler’s tea question, I’d say we mostly drink English Breakfast black tea with a small amount of milk and sugar to your liking. Usually 1 or 2 teaspoons. Brands such as Tetleys, Bushells, Twinings, Lipton and Dilmah are popular. There are so many different tea flavours. Your pronunciation of Arnotts is still a little off. You are saying Arr-nuts with almost a pause between. Try just saying it faster, Arnotts like it is spelt. Don’t say knot, it accentuates the o. The o is said fast. Great video. We rarely see people actually eat our foods, so to see your instant reaction is priceless 😂

Fru Chocs is such a South Australian thing. I used to live in Adelaide and drive past the factory. People in other states probably don't know what they are.

Youve earned your Vegemite licence lol done well. Nothing beats lots of butter with amount of Vegemite of your choice. Vegemite with cheese. Even Vegemite with tomatoes salt and pepper, is gold 👌

I love Violet Crumble. It has really dry, fine, crumbly honeycomb. Another brand called Crunchie. Isn't as nice because it has like half dissolved, crystalised, sticky honeycomb inside.

Fun fact Vegemite is made out of the yeast leftover from our major beer brewing distilleries! packed with vitamin B we found a way to incorporate beer into our breakfast routine as well 😂

Starbucks failed in Australia because the coffee was such bad quality and has ridiculous amounts of sugar. Theres still one or two spots but they dont even come close to Australian coffee.

This is not true. A regular cappuccino from Starbucks does not have any sugar in it, unless you count the lactose from the milk. But that is just regular local (Australian when in Australia) milk there is no extra sugar in it. Frankly Starbucks tastes a lot like Gloria Jeans, Coffee Club, or Zaraffas, and is ordered the same way. By default it is a plain single shot of espresso coffee and the rest is frothed milk. You have to specify how you prefer it, like asking for a double shot if you like strong coffee, or asking for sugar/flavour shots. Starbucks actually withdrew from Australia because we were already drinking espresso coffee. In America they only really drank drip/percolated coffee before Starbucks came along. Espresso coffee is so different to drip coffee that they had the market cornered. The quote from Starbucks when they withdrew from Australia was that "Australia already knows what good coffee tastes like". Meaning we already drink espresso, it had nothing to do with the taste. They were talking about how it was prepared.

i'm glad Starbucks didn't really take off here (in South Australia) though sorry for all the franchisees who invested so heavily and lost out as a result of the closures. Starbucks just came too late to our cafe culture when we already had so many good cafes, and a local franchise like "Cibo". of course, Starbucks didn't do themselves any favours by having ridiculous flavour combinations/additives like "Lime syrup"!! i've heard from many folks who've been to America (including Americans) that coffee is plentiful there but of pretty bad quality, so we've been relatively lucky to have a lot of good quality imported and also grown here. But its getting very expensive if you want the good stuff.

My dad used to be a shearer, we lived in the middle of nowhere. Vegemite was breakfast and lunch! Good to see Americans try it right

We do cook them on the Barbie - we just NEVER use the term Shrimp! To us, they are Prawns. That was an advertising campaign directed to Americans! And thank God we didn't get you to spread Vegie on thick. We do that to make people cringe and to get a laugh. Those little bags of Shapes are normally put into kids lunches for school. Tim Tam's and Wagon Wheels are both awesome Aussie biscuits for sure. Wagon Wheels used to be 3 times bigger, and sold individually. Ryan, spot on with the Cheezels on the fingertips - honourary Australian right there! Twirl is Flake chocolate bar wrapped in chocolate. Cherry Ripe is the only cherry thing we have in Australia - unlike you guys. Cheese Twisties are so much better than Cheetos. Oh yeah - Violet Crumble for sure!!! Great unboxing guys.

I remember buying Wagon Wheels at the local milk bar when they were huge and thick with fillings. And they were sold in a wax-proof paper bag that was not sealed at the top, with a story from the wild west on the back. Imagine people buying something like that today... That bag's not sealed!! Shock, horror! :)

Your vegemite reaction is probably one of the better ones among Americans. Alot of the time they gag and spit their toast in the bin.

so true...a little goes a long way. it's very salty but you barely put any on your toast/bread and you can use it in cooking like soy sauce, or a beef stock cube.

Honeycomb (in chocolate bars) is basically caramelised sugar, golden syrup, butter and bicarbonate soda. It’s really fun to make at home with kids because of the bubbling/fizzing factor and how easy it is to make. But that is why it basically just tastes like crunchy caramel.

I never looked beyond the back of the packet to solve this mystery.

It's so great to see someone try vegimite the way we eat it. Usually they take a whole spoonful in their mouth and then get all poopy about how bad it is!!! No one eats it like that so it refreshing to see a genuine taste - thank you :). BTW try it in a toasted sandwich with cheddar cheese (I think you call a toasted sandwich 'grilled cheese'), but truly, you won't be disappointed - vegimite and cheese toasties are the best :P

Because Vegemite is a savoury item, you must use it sparingly so that it doesn’t overwhelm your taste buds. Don’t spread it on like you would with jam. It has a strong taste.

In the last 20ish years we've introduced the word "cookie" in to our vocab but cookies are usually exclusively large, round, soft and chewy where as biscuits are hard and crunchy/crumbly. The older generation will still call all of them biscuits

I love watching you guys giving our food a red hot go. Couple of suggestions, if your little one is teething put a bit of the Vegemite on his dummy ( pacifier) as it will help to sooth him. It far exceeds any other teething gel, they stop crying straight away and its very good for them. And its great as stock for any stew, casserole or soup, half a teaspoon and your cracking for a good feed.

Single use plastic bags are pretty much written out in Australia.. most plastic bags or just plastic in general have to be at least 80% made from recyclable material, bags cost 15 cents per bag and are now the general bin liners for our nation

You have to be the first sensible Americans to try Vegemite! Great as a thing spread on toast. And another good way is spread on the toast with cheese; cheese and egg; avocado, and many more variations. I also throw a teaspoon in my bolognas sauce and even in soup. My grandma (who lived during the depression) taught us to put a teaspoon of vegemite in a mug and pour boiling water over it to turn it into a broth and then shred bread that is almost stale into it. I actually turn to it if I am feeling under the weather. It is also a great source of vitamin B. Some naturally in and some added after to low-salt blend. Which is why a lot of parents will give a thin spread on toast soldiers to their teething children.

The small noisy, smelly human starting it's screaming fit at the end, just in time for the end of the video 😂 I don't really miss my baby days! Mine are 13 and 18 now and things are so much easier. At least kids and teens can talk, you can do things with them etc.. babies just make incoherent noises, cry, sleep, eat, and cost a fortune for diapers and formula if you bottle feed. You can't ask them why they're upset, you can't scold them for being too noisy since they obviously won't understand.. yeah..I'm all set lol I'm SOOO happy that my kids were very well behaved babies! Both were very happy, giggly, slept through the night. I got extremely lucky in that department! 😁

This was such a nice video to see the whole family sampling food. Baby Jason is adorable! Brittany is such a good mother and amiable lady! I was really surprised to see that Tyler is Ryan's brother because I'd seen him making his own videos on foreign cultures. It's pleasant to see a friendly, wholesome family enjoying each other's company! They live in Indiana. Ryan said that his family lives on a corn farm, but I'm not sure where Tyler lives.

As long as you enjoy it doesn’t matter how much you put on the bread.

@@RiGz_Nz um that's the whole point. You need the toast to be super hot, spread on the butter so it melts into the bread, then the thin layer of Vegemite so the melted butter mixes in with it. Mmmm perfection! So delicious!!

Yesss. The Vegemite was done correctly. Love that you took it seriously. Not just spooning it out like a fool! Vegemite is amazing with any and all of these. Cheese, tomato, avocado. You could also put a bit on a toastie/sandwich press of ham, cheese, and tomato. It's all in using it carefully. I haven't tried it in a stir fry, but that could be very interesting. I'd be very careful with how much you put in. Less is always going to taste good. More is going to ruin everything. This was a great video. FUnny seeing how you say things, like Ar-notts, and Woo-lies. We say Arnott's like "arnets". No emphasis on the e sound either. It almost doesn't exist in the word. And we say Woolies like a wooly sheep. Wooly. It's our slang for the whole name Woolworths. That person sent you the best Tim Tams too. The double coat are amazing. This was a great video. What a nice family.

Woolies as in wool off a sheeps back. Bbq shapes are the best and first kind.

Not Australian (very American lol) but I was once vegetarian, Vegemite is really good as a substitute for beef flavoring in soups, sauces, and gravies!

@@EgoFeederz Not all of us are animal rights protesters, me personally (10 year vegetarian) am a vegetarian because It just feels kind of weird putting a dead animal in my mouth. Some of us are just on diets, and some of us are vegetarian for religious purposes.

Ok, technical explanation for biscuit/biscotti vs cookie is that biscuit and biscotti come from French & Italian respectively. It means "twice cooked", and if you've ever made biscotti you'll know why. Cookie comes from German/Dutch koekje, meaning "little cake". Really, they're the same thing, except that biscuits tend to be on the crisper side while cookies tend to be softer, not by design, but just because that's the cooking tradition of the respective cultures. So now you know.

Vegemite on toast with avocado..and a squeeze of lime or lemon on top... scrumptious

I put a teaspoon to a tablespoon in stews to add to the flavours. On toast with loads of butter and lightly spread on bread.

Totally worth a second watch! Something to be wary off america makes their toast/bread with waaaayyyyyy too much sugar. If you can source a wholemeal or multi grain healthy bread you enhance the flavour even more.

Hopefully they'll do the actual slam part and not just look at their Tim Tams melting and falling through their fingers into their hot beverage, as most non-Australian KZread folk seem to do. 9 times out of 10 those trying the Tim Tam slam think that the act of sucking a hot liquid through a Tim Tam is the slam part, and then hold the rapidly melting Tim Tam in their hand while they get excited that they could use the Tim Tam as a straw. This is not a Tim Tam slam. This is a Tim Tam sucky fail.

I usually get bored with these food tasting videos, but I just love the whole family being involved. You are all so gentle. Just lovely.

you need to try a Tim Tam straw..... you take a small bite out of the adjacent corners (one top corner and the opposite bottom corner) then submerge the bottom bitten corner into coffee and suck the coffee through the top bitten corner (btw, Tim Tams come in many flavours now including white chocolate my personal favorite). The Chicken Crimpy shapes and the Bacon shapes are the best :) I remember as a kid, wagon wheels were twice as big as they are now. the vegemite is a yeast extract it can be used as a stock, we also rub it into a chicken before roasting it and let it baist, you can also stir like a tsp of vegemite into boiling water and have it as a drink . and Arotts is pronounced ARE-NOTS... the honeycomb will melt on your tongue if you give it a chance to kind of like the old pop rocks.

I loved all your reactions with all the aussie goodies, this was a great video.

When you get Tim Tams; bite a small piece off the opposing corners of each end & suck the coffee through the Tim Tam like a straw, it softens & adds coffee flavour to the chocolate biscuits inside.

My whole life I detested Vegemite with a passion. In my early 50’s I tried it again and absolutely LOVE it. I have had to stop buying it because I would go through the smallest jar in a week. However, Myer had it after Christmas for $3 a jar. I bought two and I have to store it at the back of the pantry so I don’t see it. It’s also great to ad to stews and bolognaise sauces for the salty flavour.

Watching you finally try the Vegemite and Shapes is just so darn wholesome to watch for us Aussies. This is a big milestone everyone. A rite of passasge.

This is so cool. Something else I like to do with Vegemite is: Either with toast or plain bread. I spread some butter, spread some Vegemite and add a slice of processed cheese. Like Kraft or American cheese slices. Tastes really good. (Imo) I like that you enjoyed the Vegemite with butter and the amount you added was good. Too much can be overwhelming. Butter combo makes a difference. Also we did have Lays when I was growing up in the 90’s and 00’s but now we don’t you can buy it but it’s important (I think) and expensive. We have Smiths chips, Thins, Red Rock Deli and many others. I love Burger Rings, Twisties, (cheese or chicken flavour) Burger Man, Cheetos Cheese and bacon balls, Cheezels, Shapes are awesome. We also have Allen’s lollies variety and Cadbury chocolate variety. Which is cool you guys have Cadbury in the US too. Some favs I think you’d enjoy as well are Allen’s snakes, and retro pack or party pack. And Cadbury fruit and nut and Cadbury Snack flavour. So good. I’m glad you and your fam got to try many different things from Australia. I listened some of mine because if you haven’t tried them you could google them to see what I’m talking about and maybe some subs could send those out next time. I really enjoyed this video it was fun and entertaining. 🇦🇺🇺🇸

the tea we drink is mostly just black tea but we do have green tea's and herbal tea's, we generally go by tea brand here Bushell's being the major one.

Also with the Tim tam. Bite off a little of opposite corners and use it as a straw for your coffee (1 sip) Once the coffee hits your lips you’re good to eat the tim tam.

You are such a beautiful family and trying our food . Thank you for taking an interest in our country Australia .

Been to the Menz factory a bunch of times, love that fruchocs feel like this amazing secret not many outside of SA know about.

Arnotts' variety pack of biscuits is popularly used as a morning or afternoon tea offering by churches, mothers groups, committee meetings, and so on. Biscuits tend to be crisper. Cookies, for us, are a softer version. Teacan be any flavoured tea, coffee is different altogether, of course. We sometimes call our evening meal 'tea', which came from the UK. Our family came from the UK. Then, we'd often have the main meal in the middle of the day. Then in the evening it would be a lighter meal called "tea". But, as we settled in Australia, over time, our main meal was eaten in the evening. We now use 'tea' and 'dinner' interchangeably.

Fresh white bread, butter or margarine then a spread of Vegemite = Vegemite sandwich which most school kids take for lunch. Or toast the bread for an Aussie breakfast staple! Then top with cheddar cheese and put it under the griller (broiler) to melt the cheese! My fave snack!

Fun fact: Vegemite is great for mouth ulcers. It stings a little going on but helps clear them up for some reason.

The mouth heals on its own really fast without salt, but when you do use salt it heals faster. Vegemite has salt in it which helps heal the wound. Salt also helps with cuts like at the beach the salt water stings it but it helps heal it.

I was on a discord with one of my friends and he dared me to have a small teaspoon of vegemite but i chugged the whole bottle. Power of being aussie!

When you spread Vegemite on bread and butter it spreads. When you try to spread it on hot buttered toast it tends to slide over the butter and won’t “stick”

In the good old days of wagon trains, they used Vegemite for axle grease. Later it was found that Vegemite could be used to make army biscuits verge on being edible. If you read “101 Tactical Uses for Army Biscuits”, you will see that army biscuits can be used as bricks for building, and that throwing a packet at the enemy is equivalent to the blast from a medium calibre machine gun. I actually like the stuff. Spread thinly on buttered toast, although I tend to have it a bit thicker. A couple of times I was sick when young and my mum made me a glass of Vegemite soup. This was a small amount of Vegemite stirred into warm milk. It was quite savoury, tasty and satisfying, as well as being a good source of B vitamins. You just have to get the ratio of Vegemite to milk right. Try it! BTW, thanks for a very entertaining video! 🙂

Yes! Start them early on the Vegimite. My daughter eats it from the jar. Hence why she has her own personalised jar. With butter first on toast, spread sparingly... it's yummy! 😉😉 Enjoy! 🤭

Interesting the average adult in Australia seems to act like a 10-year-old now lol

Our grocery bags are those big plastic ones and we leave them in our cars and use them over and over at any retail / food shop and we sent leftovers home with friends in them, being BBQ items to others houses and they are used for everything! Even a bin liner bag if you’ve run out 😎

There is a knack to eating Tim Tams…. Bit both ends off… dip in coffee and suck the coffee through the biscuit…. It’s AMAZING

Thank you for this video. I've watched many videos of Americans trying Australian food, and they are usually very rude & disrespectful with their comments. You guys did an amazing job, and thank you for being respectful... and actually liking them. Wow. Thtis is the 1st video I've seen of Americans liking Aussie treats. Thank you! And yes, others don't understand the "honeycomb" flavour of our Violet Crumbles. Hey Ryan as someone who was raised in Australia and LOVES Vegemite,I will tell you that I not only eat it but I smear it all over my roasts and when they come out of the oven, the flavor is out of this world it seems to enhance the flavor of beef. Fun fact...Vegemite is a yeast product and they say it's the reason Aussie girls have beautiful skin and hair. It offers a lot of nutrition especially for us women. BTW...you have a beautiful family...thanks for sharing.

Damn, whoever sent the first box out knew their stuff, a lot of those were really good picks! Double coat Tim Tams is the perfect pick. Wagon Wheels are 10/10, an absolute classic. Light & Tangy are the most underrated flavour. And above all else, Chicken Twisties over Cheese! Chicken is a lot better *by far*
