It's a good reason, more centered and it gives hope for people nin Borneo. Indonesia is not only Java. About the giant wall in the sea, I hope they continue the project with the Netherlands. You know the Dutch is so good at water management 😂

I think it's quite a great move... Nusantara act as a capital & administration n Jakarta still remains as a financial & cultural hub...

The chosen site for the capital city is just outside of Balikpapan (< 20 mi away) and Samarinda (40 mi), both of which are the largest cities in Indonesian part of Borneo with a combined population of almost 2 million people. Balikpapan is already a major hub for sea and air travel in the region, and one of the wealthiest Indonesian cities in terms of GDP. So it's not really in the middle of nowhere, and I can guarantee that people would voluntarily move to the region without much hesitation.

the reason why the price is cheap, i think it's because the building raw materials in Indonesia are cheaper than in the US. And also the salary of the handyman is lower too

The reclamation project has been stopped by the current Jakarta local government which are also part of the giant sea wall structure i think all for political reasons too, sooo....... im not so confident if the giant sea wall project will continue again

You can't imagine human life in the future with very sophisticated transportation equipment, or maybe just by blinking your eye you're already in another place.

Well there's high speed rail hsr project between Kuala lumpur and Singapore but it is still in discussion. The project got cancelled because of covid in 2020. They just revived the subject back last month 😃

Moving the capital is strategic because it's beneficial to the flow of the economy because of its proximity to other asean countries, other asian countries and Pacific countries. Also close to sulawesi and irian jaya rumsey..char! Borneo is one of the largest islands in the world and Borneo is the only island with 3 independent countries (malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia). Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world with more than 17,000 islands. Next is the Philippines with 7,654 islands..though indonesia is more than 6 times larger than my country the Philippines and I don't see any problem with that at all..(hey pia!) Will Indonesia be divided into many countries? It's unlikely to happen but the papuans in the west wanted to separate from Indonesia but Indonesia won't let that happen. Likely the papuans are helpless because no country will meddle into Indonesia's issues. Who knows in the future if Australia is willing to help..char! Indonesia has been sending local indonesians to west PAPUA to overtake native papuan population..unless Indonesia wants to give them freedom in some ways. The pupuans in the first place couldn't revolt against the indonesian government because they're weak and have no fire power.

Well the separatist do have firepower but from my knowledge their organization are not united so that's probably one of the reasons they're not very successful, also with the focus of the current government development plans the bulk of the public and economic development are focused on the eastern part of Indonesia which also includes western Papua, also Papua and West Papua province is 2 out of 5 of the specialized province that has autonomy to rule itself in accordance to their local tradition and wisdom, also many of the founders of the separatist groups have decided to return to Papua and work with the current government, im not an apologist for the authoritarian regime of "orba" they have exploited many areas outside of Java for their own benefits and their cronies but now we are different it's time for reconciliation and building, Papua and West Papua has a lot of natural resources and economic potential so whoever it is that supplying guns to the separatist will likely keep trying to ruin any sort of stability in the region, regarding sending people in to overtake the local Papuan i think that's a bit of a stretch coz there's no systematic programs that is done currently but we do have transmigration programs which send farmers from Java to other islands (not just Papua) so they can cultivate land in those areas and in hopes to transfer agriculture knowledge to the locals in the area but i think this project not really active much nowadays

@@Ramadhani-jl4fd yeah i understand that slogan i also understand from Sabang to Merauke is the territory of the Indonesia republic, but this country isn't perfect and there are human rights violation that has been done throughout our history this we should not forget about so we can learn not to repeat them, and ideally those who are the perpetrator be brought to justice so the victims can get justice and closure so we can recover and reconcile and move together to a better future, the unity in diversity hangs in a delicate balance as long as we can respect the difference between us

Cleaning rivers and slum irredication projects in rivers it will not sink fast and also we have major cities being build outside metro manila like Clark global city and new Clark city etc.

Manpower are one of the biggest component on building, that's why building in Western countries are expensive

there's a reason why it's more cheaper rather than the other country who build their capital city bcs indonesia had a lot of resources of material, likes iron stone cemens sand wood n stuff bunch of raw material is superb at indonesia n this giving advantage to press the budget bcs they're not much import from the other country . rhis plannis good bcs borneo island is more safety from volcanic mount + the air is good + the island is central from each island so goverment can be fast to giving a command or help situation to other island if there's some urgent or building up plann + borneo island is close to brunei malaysia n singapore n ofc thai n philipine rather than at java so maybe they can makes more cooperation to each country for growing up econimic aspect + this can be helping of some prob at jakarta as well . but there's always pro and contra most of them is agree but much ppl who are bad egoist ppl doesnt like with this plann bcs they doesn't want to makes title of capital city of jakarta is gone bcs that's makes their pride falls off, and much of corrupt ppl doesnt like that plan bcs this ruined their planned to gain more money bcs this will change the price of jakarta land, n bunch of political corrupt had a lot of palm oil factory at borneo even they're living at jakarta so if the capital n goverment changes to that place it's ruined their corrupt factory bcs of tax n so on, etc . but most of ppl who are pro with that is wise n knew about that bad ppl who contra with that plann. i hope there's will be a good progress

Why I'm not a fan for this idea is, the nature in borneo. can you make sure it will not end up like Jakarta?? The nature of Kalimantan is so precious, we need the rain forest, it's the lungs of Indonesia, and then what will happen to Jakarta after it? Cuz u are destroying more forest and we need more forest. Will there be like big GO GREEN Jakarta or what? are we just gonna cut another forest with out planting the new one?

The government just planned to move governmental offices to the new capital meanwhile the business district will still lies in Jakarta. That moves would hopefully split the crowds so they won’t make the whole Borneo end up like Jakarta in present day.
