The refs don't need to get angry in rugby because all the players hold the utmost respect for the ref. YOu should find a video of 'Nigel Owens' best reffing moments. A world class ref with a wicked sense of humour!

Sébastien Chabal played very hard but was perfectly within the rules (well most of the time). He made the glory days of the Racing Club de France. In "civilian" life he is a man of great kindness and gentleness, almost self-effacing. Quite a contrast with his life on the ground.

If you go to a match you can actually tune in yo listen to the ref's for the whole game. Before you check out Nigel there is 1 little thing you need to know, & this is going to sound weird now. @@RealFansSports you folks should watch a YT vid called "pitbulls punch ups- brian moore rugby fights", Rugby has cleaned itself up a great deal over the last 20 yrs, im 50 now, so old enough a player to know what it used to be like, if i use the phrase a little more wild, and others might say that the modern game has gone a little soft, it should give you some idea of what it was like. In short no cameras to provide replays for the ref. its was just 2 linesmen and the ref. the odd punch here and there even if seen wouldnt get you sent off, just a chat with the ref. stamping on someones face, that would get you sent off, but the odd punch unless it was a blatant knock out na!

Dudes, I'm a small guy. Nevertheless, If any of these guys steam rolled me, my first instinct is to keep hold of the ball. Then play the ball behind me to keep the play going. Then get up and back into position. And when the phase (play is over, think about and start to feel the initial hit.. NFL just stops after a play. Some Rugby phases go on for 20/30 phases. Ball always live, and players always on their toes - Staying onside and getting involved in mid-phase plays that only an NFL QB would try pull off.

This is just ageing me but this is a list for the modern era, not all time. The size of the players has definitely transformed out of sight but the enforcers of the amateur era were another breed, especially before cameras became ubiquitous. Also worth noting the Tuilagis are an absolute rugby dynasty that would put the Mannings to shame. Six brothers all played professionally as have three of the younger generation. Its worth getting some highlights of the whole clan because dear god they were brutal. Also Brian Lima aka The Chiropractor belongs on this list. Ditto Julian White, if for no other reason than wearing a sucker punch from his opposite number (280lb international prop Andrew Sheridan) like it was nothing, then dropping him with a single blow.

yeah league is NRL. We are aware of the differences. We did a reaction to a video by this channel before and it had some league in it as well and thought that would be the case on this one, but it wasnt.

Don't confuse fitness with stamina. It's like comparing a distance runner and a 100m sprint specialist, different requirements, different training, you can't say one is more fit than the other. NFL and Rugby are not the same thing, both have players that go hard and train harder. Why can't people just enjoy a sport, it doesn't have to be a "but my sport is better" argument all the time. Most NFL fans I know have loved watching rugby too, it's got many of the same exciting factors they love about the NFL but it's also it's own thing. I think the main issue is that American Football is hard to follow for those not aware of all the rules and culture surrounding it. Even with a friend explaining everything to me it took me a while to really get into and enjoy. Now I have the pleasure of enjoying both sports and sharing my passion for rugby with my friends in the US. It's worth noting, many of my American friends didn't even want to give rugby a look because of all the hate/insults rugby fans throw at American football. It took some effort to explain to them that if they love American Football, they will probably also enjoy rugby seeing as they share some common history. Show your friends what you love about a sport and they will enjoy it with you, make fun of what they love and they will hate both your opinion and your sport without ever giving it a chance.

@@Xaltar_ couldn’t agree more! And yeah I understand how some of your friends felt when we first started our rugby content. The crazy unrelated hate we got for liking the NFL was insane 😂 and you are right NFL definitely is hard to watch for the first time and be able to get into it. It really takes about a full year of watching it to understand certain strategies, the different penalties and how using the play clock to your advantage is crucial. They have similar concepts but as a whole the sports are so very much different and require different styles of training to be elite in the individual sports. Much like all sports. These people are professionals for a reason. They are extremely gifted and majority are extremely hard working to try and master their craft.

As a rugby fan I would say they are different sports and therefore requirements for players arent the same. Rugby is more attritional for the whole team over 80+ minutes but they dont all play the whole game. Because like in NFL you dont want the really big guys (linebackers/forwards) to get too gassed out too early. So player rotation is important in both. Whereas NFL plays are more concentrated within specific time periods, as you say stop start and they have twice as many players involved on each side. Theres also all that padding and equipment they wear, playing for longer stints would be taxing.

You mention the respect for "effort" by the smaller guys. Trust, doesn't matter if you take a monster down. Just slowing them down slightly pays huge dividends.. As mentioned before, we grow up learning how to play Rugby. And part of that is taking hits from dudes twice your size. Remember. The ball is always live... Love the show boys - Respect from WYUK
