A few keepers stand up for pace bowlers but it is VERY difficult and quite risky if your bowler isn't accurate.

Once the Australian Wicketkeeper missed a close chance on a stump out. He instantly commented to the batter “I’m not Dhoni man”. That’s how you know he is the GOAT.

The difference between the keeper up close is for spinners(slow ballers who bowl at around 80 kmph) and when hes way back its the fast bowler coming in hot at the wicket (fast bowler at around 140 kmph). MSD IS A LEGEND OF INDIAN CRICKET AND NONE LIKE HIM. CHEERS !! PS: He is the best finisher as in while batting/chasing.

Few pointers: - The bat is an extension of the batter and can be used to cross the popping crease. - The stumping (whipping off the bails) by the wicketkeeper deems a batter out, if the batter is not "behind" the popping crease (line) when the ball is in play. - Reasons for standing up close to the wickets is if the bowler is a spinner and when the bowler is a fast bowler, the keeper most often stand back to collect the ball, that most often is travelling at speeds between 135 kmph - 155 kmph - The ball needs to be in players hand(s) that is coming in contact with the wickets to claim a runout/stumping - The reason MSD was calm is because, he played the batter. The batter running towards his side of the pitch, saw MSD being calm and assumed that the ball was going to the other end or that the ball was still not near the keeper and did not attempt hard enough to cross the line on time. -The game where MSD ran the player out, was against South Africa and the last game of a series which was until then was a tie. This game was the decider and the winner of the game would be declared with winner of the series. I assume that it was a very close match with the opposition needed two runs to win and India needed a single wicket to win and jubilation was due to the game being so close. - Skipper in Cricket means the Captain

No one is better than him when it comes to Wicket-Keeping. He is built different and he is a frekin 🐐 Btw, he was a crazy Batsman as well with some 17000+ international runs batting at middle and lower order all his career, still managed to do that, he was just insane throughout his career. Also one of most successfull captains of all time in cricket history, and only captain to win all white ball ICC Trophies which was basically everything at that time ( ICC CWC , ICC Champions Trophy and ICC T20 WC).

Even Dhoni's ability to change the game behind the stumps just by instructing the fielders and bowler, that was mind blowing. I still remember what he done in champions trophy Finals 2013, that was pinnacle of captaincy.

This guy was a great captan because he was shrewd tactician, always calm, never emotional, always thinking and probaly the best reader of the game. Never got angry at his players on the field. GOAT is I think an understatement

Fast bowlers bowl around an average speed of 120kmph, the slower ones can go for 100-110 kmph and the faster ones go around 145-154 kmph. The wicketkeeper for fast bowlers stands about 10-15 yards behind the stumps. The spinners bowl in a range of 70-100kmph speed, that slower pace allows the wicketkeeper to stand closer to the stumps. The shorter distance allows the keeper to receive the ball quicker but also demands for quicker reflexes and increases the chance to miss the ball if it has deflection from the bat.

​@@RealFansSports Kindly be informed that the wicket keeper stands close to the stumps when spinners are bowling, while they stand a few yards behind the stumps when they are keeping to fast bowlers... NB: There are occasions in which they will come up close to the stumps even while keeping to a medium fast baller ( who bowls in the mid 130 kph range ) probably as a part of tactics , just to make sure that the batters don't leave the crease and attack... It restricts the shot making of batters and also at times puts pressure on them just by thinking the fact that the wicket keeper is up to the stumps and that he should be really careful not to fall over and lose balance while playing his shot... Because wicket keepers like ms doesn't need more than a fraction of a second to send the batsman back to the pavillion

8:15 By staying calm, the batsman running towards him thinks that the ball has been thrown to the other end because the guy at his end is not “posing” to catch. So he too runs a little relaxed but gets run out at the last moment.

Unparalleled speed .. now Major Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in the paracomando in the Indian Army. God himself said he is the best captain he played with. He is a completely different player. Super power when batting. Lightning fast hands. The captain who won India all major tournaments including the world cup. His skill is beyond anything normal.

MSD is arguably the best strategist, one of the best captains, wicket keeper, finisher and onw of the most loved players of all times. The roar of the crowd when he comes out to bat reaches deafening decibels

The NO LOOK runout he did at his home ground in Ranchi against New Zealand (India vs New Zealand ODI Series)

He was also one of those players who was still on the team for long even after his batting performances weakened because losing him as a captain would be very bad for the team. Oh nah bro, his batting only weakened in 2016 and he volunteerily gave up captaincy right after regaining form. So people might say he kept his place in the team cuz of captaincy but that isn't true. He carried that team with Virat from 2011-2014, after which Rohit, Shikhar got super consistent. He had an average of 50 in 2017. Form dipped again in 2018 but he averaged 50+ again in 2019. If anything his batting was overpowered by his other skills.

@@pawangupta7613 Funny theory but untrue. His averages from numbers 3-7 are always in the top 3 averages of all times. His strike rate was low because of the number of times he had to save the team from a batting collapse in between 2011-14. He has 10k ODI runs and the third highest number of fities in the world. The whole "not outs help average theory" is farce, because out of the 84 times he remained not out, 50 came in chasing and we won 48 of those games. If anything, his number of runs suffered because he had to play in the middle or lower order and yet he was in ICC top 10 from 2006-2016. Just so you know those rankings are not measured by averages but number of runs scored.
