At the age of 7 years his mother took his older brother and sister to another part of the Philippines for work. He was living with his dad who was then put in jail (mistaken identity) and Marcelito had to live in the streets where he would hang outside of karaoke bars and clubs and started imitating singers. He would feed chickens on farms for money and practiced singing to them. He would also sing to calm his fears and sadness.

In case you do not know about Marcelito's difficult life. Marcelito's father was incarcerated and his mother abandoned him on the streets and homeless at age 7. The streets were cruel and he was a child dealing with it. When he was afraid, he would sing to comfort himself. He also sang to the chickens when he would clean out their coups for a small amount of money. Yet, he remained a sweet, kind and loving person. He is so humble and, I believe that what makes him so incredible is not just his beautiful voice but, that he touches people's souls. The Prayer, his most famous song, reflects his life - asking God to give him a save place to be. Marcelito is a true inspiration and it is a miracle that he, as a child, survived what most adults wouldn't have. He is truly an angel on earth.

Marcelito Pomoy is Filipino and has an AMAZING backstory. He is self-taught -- his Dad was incarcerated when Marcelito was young and Marcelito's mom abandoned both him and his younger sibling when he was only 2. He was adopted by a police officer, but he was a virtual orphan and lived on the streets from 8 years old on and only made it through 3rd grade in school. He started singing when he was 7, but didn't realize until he was 18 that he could do both male and female voices He doesn't speak English nor Italian fluently (which makes his "The Prayer" below even more amazing!). He was the Grand Winner of the 2nd season of Philippines Got Talent. He was also recently on America‘s Got Talent The Champions and blew even more people away with his amazing talent What’s even more impressive is that he never had any voice training at all. It’s just from singing all the time to keep his spirits up. Obviously, Celine Dion is one of his heroes. There is a KZread video of him singing on the Ellen DeGeneres show… And she then gives him the gift of getting to meet his hero and see her in concert

just to give you some facts, this kind of singing, doing a duet with yourself, is kinda common or not a shocking thing for Filipinos. there had been singing contests in TV shows since the 80's of singing a duet by just a singer, they call it "doble kara". but this guy marcelito I think is the best in history of doing that.
