In this video I react to the top 15 Irn Bru adverts. These were the most hilarious adverts I've ever seen. I mispronounced the name at first, but I got it now. These ads were laugh out loud funny, very creative and great at making me desperately want to try Irn Bru when I get the chance. :)
Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed this reaction please give this video a thumbs up, share your thoughts in the comments and click the subscribe button to follow my journey to learn about my British and Irish ancestry.

The thing about no.2 is that it's an animation parodying, "The Snowman" a beloved animation that gets shown every Christmas. Everybody in the UK knows The Snowman so everybody gets the gag.

Voted Scotland's best Christmas ad. It's also a beautiful tribute to Scottish locations, viz: The Falkirk Wheel, Forth road and rail bridges, Edinburgh Castle, Loch Ness(+monster), Glenfinnan Viaduct, Eileen Donan Castle, Glasgow George Square.

I'm from the US and I remember seeing The Snowman when I was a kid and was able to get it on DVD a few years ago. So I totally got the joke and laughed my ass (arse) off.

I love the way how Irn Bru don’t take themselves too seriously. They don’t need to advertise, they already outsell Coca Cola in Scotland. I always look forward to their next ad.

Lots of us English prefer it to cola as well 😃
IRN BRU is pronounced IRON BRU ! The phrase was " IRN BRU....MADE FROM GIRDERS". " MUM" and "FANNY" are my favourites, especially when you know that FANNY means something completely different in the UK ! IRN BRU outsells COKE and PEPSI in Scotland...and CORBY, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE in England. (it's known as Little Scotland because of the populations Scottish heritage)
I've seen this compilation many times and don't get why number 1 is the best! I personally think there's better ones in the selection 😂.

The "Crazy Yanks" Coke style ad is my favourite.
The cinzano bianco adverts used to be quite a thing when they were around - should be pretty easy to find a compilation of them.
Please get yourself a PO Box.. & we nice Brits can send you some parcels of british foods.. products etc to try x
So many better Irn Bru ads than some of the ones on this video. Whoever made the original video got it so wrong especially with their number 1 pick.
Love the parody of The Snowman whilst showing various iconic Scottish landmarks and wildlife such as the Falkirk wheel, Edinburgh Castle, Loch Ness and the monster, the majestic Monarch of the Glen Red Deer Stag, Glenfinnan viaduct,Eileen Donan castle to name a few (that I spotted).

Jack Lowden who is the lead in number 6 (the Not an American High School Musical) is doing really well for himself now, he’s been in some great stuff lately
The top 5 ads were a response to Coca-Cola, who sent their ad men to get Scotland to drink Coke instead of Irn bru. This was because Scotland was preventing Coca-Cola from saying their number 1 in the world. They failed! In Scotland, we can get Irn bru ice cream, ice lollies, and chews, and I think hard candy. I believe it's banned in the USA because of colouring, but a lot of us think that Coca-Cola has something to to do with the ban.
Does anyone remember the Irn Bru chewy sweets? They were like the 15cm ruler sized flat chewy sweets, like refreshers bars, and a near impossibly bright orange colour! Tasted great though, they were popular when I was at school (not in Scotland either)
Irn-Bru, made in Scotland from girders. Best straight from a glass cheque. (Only a Scot over 40 will understand that)😊 Does Steve understand Fanny isn't your arsenal, in Scotland.

So true👍👍
As you may of noticed, they are taking the mickey out of American adverts from a British point of view, I certainly don't agree with number 1 being the best, for me it's definitely the FANNY advert (because we all know what the word fanny means in BRITAIN🤣🤣🤣) followed by the new boyfriend, add, with WINSTON and the England football shirt and then mum's new bra, now that's my sense of humour. 🏴 🇬🇧👍
The #2 Snowman advert is not only my favourite but it was so well loved it got a squeal! There is a second snowman advert that ran a few years later.
Companies do Commericals about how great their Product is. Barr who makes Irn Bru, on the other hand, makes their Ads Funny and not to be taken seriously. It has worked great.
There’s a perception about us being stuffy but we’re much less prudish about nudity and swearing on Tv as American friends that have lived here will attest to
Made from girders lol. There are lots of UK adverts which are funny or like this. No2 was based on a famous xmas animation by raymond briggs called the snowman the song has changed the words.
I remember when Number 7 (the butcher) first aired and my dad and I got _soooo_ upset because we worried that they'd gone the way of the Ribena ads (they started with the little backcurrants trying to get to the factory but getting squished at the last moment, and then ended up with Disney-esque cutesie things and we hated it) and then found outselves rolling around laughing while my sister was crying _"noooooooooooo!"_ easily one of my favourites along with The Snowman, "Even Though I Used To Be A Man", and Fanny edit: Born-and-bred Scot here, do you have a PO box? I'll send you a few cans!

To get the perspective on number 4 you have to understand the rivalry between England and Scotland in football
A lot of people don't like it. I get it because it has a distinctive taste but i love it. It also was an amazing cure for a hangover when I was at university. Don't think people realise how much it helped!

Straight up cure for most sickness, like the 90's Lucozade. I've been in some states with my diabetes, and Irn bru is the only thing i can keep down. :) I also love that people to this day are confused on the flavour.
When you could actually laugh about anything and everything. Never take life too seriously 🙏♥️
I grew up with this amazing. They brought out a limited edition old recipe and it's good.
Barrs Irn Bru…’made in Scotland from girders’. - it’s the drink you reach for after a heavy night of drinking the night before😜😜
These all look like modern ads. The old ones which were often cartoons were great. One had the characters building a bridge as they walked across it because Irn Bru made them so strong. They all ended with "Made in Scotland from Girrrderrrs".
Steve as a Scot I find these hilarious, you also need to watch the marmite ads they are also amazing.
Made in Scotland from Girders! Irn Bru’s most famous slogan😜👏
The pot noodle adverts are real British humour! Some from the early 2000s were banned but can still be found on KZread. The sl*g of all snacks and the horn are brilliant

I'm Scottish and grew up on irn bru. The adverts with the pop video style singing were from my childhood during the early 80's. When Irn bru was advertised across the rest of the UK, they were made to remove the tag line made in Scotland from girders. The fanny one I can't believe got past a censor for what it means in the UK. There was a brilliant original older advert from about 78,79 that had road workers using a steam roller and they drive over the glass bottle of in bru and the little boy pulled it out still intact and it left a bottle shaped indentation in the steam roller. Irn bru used to only be sold in glass bottles. It was very sweet. I prefer the sugar free version but the original is known colloquially as a hangover cure especially with builders and workmen.
Urn-Bru 🤣 Set up a po box and I'll send you some proper Irn-Bru straight from Glasgow 🙂 They used to advertise it as "Irn-Bru: made from girders!" as if to say it's literally made from the rust off of steel girders 😅

You could even wait until you've got a few items then do a review style video; get yourself some of that KZread ad money!! 😉
They way you say “irn bru”a love 🤣🤣🤣
Steve, it's pronounced Iron Brew!!!
The most famous Irn Bru slogan is…Irn Bru, made from girders! It comes from the iron girders on the Clyde shipyards, and the Forth Rail Bridge in Edinburgh. Irn bru is the drink all Glasgow men reach for ‘the morning after the night before’, it also has the Slogan ‘Irn Bru, Your Other National Drink’, meaning other than Scotch Whisky. Hence, the morning after the night before drink, wink, wink 😜😜
We do still get some good ads - no prescription drug ads though. Urn bru always went above and beyond! The old Walkers crisps ads were great as well!
TV adverts from the 80s and 90s are fun, the black and white video, is actually from the early to mid 90s, One to look for and watch, has to be Carling Black Label adverts, specifically Dambusters spoof advert. using video footage from the world war two era movie, Dam busters.
Scottish sense of humour Steve, canny beat it!!
So proud to be Scottish and yes these are our delightful ads
These make more sense in the UK. Some reference UK culture and other adverts. They use IRN BRU because it can be trademarked. Many of these adverts are shown only in Scotland where it's the most popular drink. In the 1990s they started promoting IRN BRU more in England with the adverts which are in black and white. Number 6 is a reference to High School Musical which at the time it was popular. This advert was a Scottish version of the movie. Number 3 was a reference to the Coca Cola advert in the 1980s with the song "For the very first time" Number 2 is a reference to the short movie The Snowman which is popular in the UK at Christmas.
Funny! Number 2 is tricky if you’re not British. Google “the snowman”. It’s kind of ingrained in our 1980s Christmas conscious! I’m English and Irn Bru is my favourite, although it wrecks your teeth and gives you worryingly orange urine.
Irn Bru is closer to a Root Beer in taste, when comparing to US fizzy drinks. Another UK fizzy drink is Tango. They have lots of adverts but finding the right compilation may take a while.
It does contain (a really small amount of) iron... but it's not brewed.
Yep - these were commercials on TV. In general todays commercials are not nearly as much fun as they once where, and not so long ago. The funniest are almost invariably the most creative. I love - and miss - some of the adverts over here that treat of other drinks - especially those for alcohol. Castlemain 4X ( Castlemain XXXX ) did some terrifically amuzing ads, as did Fosters, Guinness and particularly brilliant were those adverts of Stella Artois.
Absolutely love those adverts man Ha Ha. Every single one of them (BRILLIANT) 😅
IRN BRU is Scotland,s version of a very fine French champagne. But without the alcohol in it .
Great video thoroughly enjoyed that one mate lol!
The reason it’s spelled that way is because we Scots pronounce it as Irrun brew, and when it states “Made in Scotland from girders” the Scots pronunciation is gurrdurrs
Now that brought back some memories. 👍
It’s pronounced Iron Bru. - derived from metal girders on the Glasgow shipyards 🤣🏴
Kearney, New Jersey, I understand you can get IrnBru in some shops also (if it’s still there) Pete’s Froutique, Halifax Nova Scotia
No 3 is the one I remember from back in the day, and really set the scene for what has followed.

It’s the law in England to watch the snowman at Christmas 🎉
I’ve not seen a lot of these! 😂 brilliant! 😅
It’s just “Iron Brew” 😜
When adverts were funny. Nowadays they are so boring that I record programmes so that I can fast feed through the adverts that go on far too long.
I’ve just recently found your podcast and I’m really enjoying your fascination with all things British. Our respective nations are much the same. Obviously with cultural and traditional differences. I’ll keep on watching, and perhaps contribute unique features of Scotland in particular. Thank you for taking an interest in such a distant and small nation👏🏴🥰
The thing about the early adverts was, that, IRN BRU gave you strength. As it was made from girders, the latter it became. The more Scottish humour became a parody and absolute taking the pish out of ourselves.
The Irn Bru ads have always been great - I know many who love it, me, I can't drink it. I find it far too sweet, like a sweetened mouth wash. My friends say that it tastes fruity.
It means: Everything is better with a drink of Irn Brew
Only country that Coca Cola did not take over the market,Irn Bru is referred to as Scotland's other national drink.
You need to react to the tenants lager adverts from Scotland, similar to Irn Bru but with a more adult edge 👍🏴
There are lots more brilliant ads, I dont think Irn Brus had a bad advert, its our biggest non slcoholic beverage export In Scotland everyone is fair game to be made fun of and Irn bru is a reflection of that aspect of Scottish culture. In Scotland if we make fun of you it generally means your an accepted and liked part of the group
Steve love your channel. Watch Tango adverts. There got band at some point! Lol
Gordon Ramsay did an advert for Specsavers 😂
‘Fanny’in Scotland and particularly Glasgow in is a derogatory term, or slang for vagina, like ‘P*say’ is used in America. The Glasgow lingo can be cheeky and a bit crude🏴😜
Soda pop in Glasgow is called Ginger
it out sells Coca-Cola and Pepsi in Scotland. its nickname is Jock Juice. although it is orange in colour, it tastes like bubble gum.

I've never seen these! Carlsberg adverts from the 80s 90s were very funny
Dime Bar ads were funny too
Dr Pepper have some reasonably humorous adverts in the UK with the "What's the worst that could happen?" tagline. Don't know if they are as funny as the Irn Bru ones though
as I live near Newcastle on Tyne the shops sell Irn brew but we don't get the adverts, never tasted it, it seems to be a Scottish thing
A lot of memories ❤
Coke has been trying to buy out Irn bru for years as it out sells coke in Scotland and they have been trying to get hold of the recipe for years! No.10 is my favourite ad!
It's made in Scotland... from Girders.
Having the King Head of state is different to being in the Commonwealth. I doubt Australia would leave the latter,it’s hugely valuable to them.
My favourite one wasn't there. I like the one with the old man who says "Before I had Irn Bru I used to be dead" lol.
"Irn Brew - made by Girders"
I do love the Irn Bru ads but the Fiery Irn Bru ads were even better - even if the drink itself wasn't

"Irn bru .. Med frum gedda's" 🇬🇧🇺🇸
15 best Marmite commercials are just as funny than IRN BRU, 'You either Love It or Hate IT' just don't ignore it !!!!! Priceless
Irn Bru outsells Pepsi and Coca Cola in Scotland.
You didn't comment on nr 3, in fact you looked lost - I thought it was the best. It was taking the piss out of US adverts (listen to the lyrics) with great Scottish humour (and that's coming from an Englishman!).
Should check out the Tango adverts😅
It’s a great drink Steve x
Left out the Goth Holiday one
Living in South Western England I have never seen these adverts on the TV. I think they are exclusive to Scotland. Irn Brew is available down here but has nowhere near the popularity that it has north of the border. They go crazy for it up there. I am glad you shared these adverts as I had no idea how good and creative they were. The fosters and XXXX (Four X) Australian lager commercials are also very funny and creative but these ones you have found are great. Loving your videos btw.
Steve. It was called Iron Bru, or Brew at one time. I am 99% sure. But advertising regulators said it didn't contain iron so misleading.
I think number 2 was the best one.
Glaswegians have the most cheeky sense of humour, that’s why so many great Irn Bru adverts. Pure Dead Brilliant🏴😜
In Scotland Fanny is a ladies front bottom areac😂

Aye. Say it in a wee Scottish accent there an' ye get IR'N BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Made in Scotland from gurrrrrrrdurrrrrrrrrs.!😀
I've seen many irn bru ads, but not these The ones i saw were all on the theme of "irn Bru, made in scotland from girders"
Irn Bru (pronounced 'Iron Brew' ) is very much a Scottish drink. It is possible to get it in some places in England, but it is still very much the Scottish 'Coca Cola'. Are you familiar with The Snowman cartoon film? The 'floating in the air' commercial is a total pastiche of that, even down to the music. I think British adverts (commercials) do tend towrds the funny and entertaining perhaps more than US adverts. We do have ads that just name drop the product and tell you why you need it, but we have a lot of very creative ones like this- but Irn Bru does it particularly well.
