It's not like there's many speed measurements for cars it's only 2 mph and kph I guess euro cars have both speeds on the clocks makes it more normal to know both really

Balls to the walls, not playing games. Germany takes cars seriously xD A lot of German cars went through the baptism of fire on this track.

Top speed is 369 kmh so 229.2 mph 😉

you can also book this part of the course for private usage. getting the feeling of the race with your own car. it's packed every weekend, as long as there are no official races

That 919 was going around most corners FASTER than most cars top speed. Let that sink in.

The car can get above the ground. It can also get a massive contraction into the ground, which is similar dangerous while steering or doing any other acceleration (changing of speed in a direction). In a contraction you can steer more easily. But you have to reduce forces quickly afterwards to stay stable. If you don't you might flick out of the track.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife is knows as the most difficult race track ever built. F1 used to drive here until 1976. Then it was abandoned because of being to dangerous for F1 cars.

Yes, the numbers are in kph, which is still mind-blowing fast around the mother of all tracks. He topped at just under 370 kph, which is about 5 kph = 3 mph under the top speed that the McLaren F1 did on a flat road. Crazy sh1t!

@@RotesKleid411 I was communicating in the language that the video is in and most of the viewers are likely to speak as their native language. Kilometers / kilometres per hour is kph in English.

Its not the top speed that is staggering, its the speed in the turns thats mind boggling. He does in some turns 100kmh more than they do in the 24hours race. or 60mph faster. thats fxxing insane.

It's so fast that if you see videos of it from the outside it looks like the footage has been sped up.

And it took 40 years for someone to *even try* to smash the old record, set up by a *regulated* race car back in the 80´s on a arguably harder version of the track and only half the power.

This car has beaten the 30 year old lap record by over 50 seconds... (not 1 or 2 seconds...) Average speed on the lap was around 234 km/h. Just fucking insane... (and of course all numbers are in metric units)

“People die every racing weekend” is a lie. This year there was an accident in which two professional Goodyear test drivers were killed. Races take place regularly on the (short) Grand Prix track and on the (long) Nordschleife, in which there are no deaths.
