The mythological creatures are called "Kukeri". They are from bulgaria and they shall get rid of evil spirits. We in austria have also a custom with so called "Perchten"; they are also there to get rid of evil spirits in the winter time / end of the year, beginning of the new year.

Knowing the creature reather from the Lithuanian side, but pretty much sums it up.

The costumes are called Kukeri, they're part of Bulgarian folklore and they're part of a tradition that's said to ward off evil spirits.

Plot twist of the video: It was the women's plan all along to get caught so that one of them could kill one of the "Metal Monster". It is a ritual of women, at the end of which one of them also gets this line of blood in the middle of the body.
