Yay! One of my favorite countries, they really invest in the contest!!! I really love when they include some cheerful Jewish vibes to the music.

5:00: The chorus says "Alive, the People of Israel is Alive". The song was written by Ehud Manore as a statement, for the fact that the Eurovision was about to take place in Munich, the historic "capital" of the Nazi party in Germany, some 38 years after the end of WW2 and the Holocaust. The costume designer, Dorin Frankfurt, decided to make a statement of her own, by dressing them in the color of the "Yellow Star". The composer of this song is Avi Toledano, the singer who finished 2nd the previous year.

Israel were so good in the 70s and 80s, they definately were the country to beat back then.

The group who represented Israel in 1993 were hilarious. They didn’t particularly like the song either and had what could best be described as a ‘difficult’ relationship with the lead singer, seated at the piano. The backing singer, perched at the very back of the stage, was outraged at having been placed there so the rest of the group endorsed her decision to abandon her post and join them for the final part of the song. Bravo!

So many beautiful songs on here! Kan is a great song (1991). The main two singers were married in real life but apparently are now divorced and he's out of the closet (but they are still friends). Apparently in 1993's bad song, the older woman at the piano wanted all of the focus on her so she went over everyone's heads to have the cameras focus on her, and it kept going back and forth like that (I think). 2000's is yikes territory and IDK how it didn't get last. They waved Syrian flags at the end (which made the Israeli broadcaster cut off the song at the end due to a Syria/Israel war) - and the song had been about a woman from Israel falling in love with a Syrian man. Apparently there were lyrics like "I want to do it with him all day," and the music video had the girls "doing suggestive things with a cucumber." WTF WTF 2010's is one of the best. I love Harel Skaat's beautiful voice (and the rest of his...self).

Great reaction! The happy birthday song is happy birthday for Israel, because the contest is close to Israel's independence day.

12:00: It also made the Israeli public sad, when it realized a small cultural milieu was choosing the Eurovision song according to their own bad taste.

At this rate you'll arrive at Germany around Xmas time, so far we have been last on ten occasions, so that fits. Could you please react to Germany 1956 to 2023 for Christmas? Could you react to a longer excerpt of the videos for your last reaction of ESC compilations? (e.g. use a playlist and edit it yourself)
