There's a scene in House where the doctors sing karaoke in a bar, "Midnight Train to Georgia". Rich meaty voices; Hugh Laurie and Jesse Spencer too. Hugh has a huge back catalogue of work that it would be worth investigating. He and Stephen Fry have been best buddies since university (introduced by Emma Thompson) and have worked together on numerous projects. Their sketch shows 'Fry and Laurie' were huge hits. They also did versions of the 'Jeeves and Wooster' stories which I think will remain unbeatable. If you've not seen 'House' you should give an episode or two a whirl, just to see a very different side to Hugh.

That was 100% New Zealander at the end. The key to picking the difference in accent is often the "i" sound. Kiwis say "fush and chups". Once you know that, its usually not too hard to pick the difference. He also referred to jandals, which I believe are flip flops or thongs, depending on where you are from.

A Budgerigar is an Australian bird commonly known as a Budgie. They are kept by people around the world as pets and have been bred to within an inch of their lives since been discovered here 200 years ago. They form some of the largest flocks of birds in the world, mostly over our deserts. And Simon, in the Red Chair? As an Aussie I picked him as a Kiwi the minute he opened his mouth! You should compare the NZ and Australian accents. They are similar but, even to my Aussie ear. The Kiwis and South African accents have similarities that we in Australia don’t share.

Bill Murray went musical too, and I saw him a few years ago too - not blues, more classical. That was weird but good! I have to respect these creatives have reached a place in their careers that they can take some risks and play with what they really want to do and spring off their earlier fame and tour as far away as New Zealand :)

Don't know if you've seen him in 'House' playing an American doctor? But that, Black Adder, and his music show his full versatility, very impressive career

Graham Norton appears to be another character that's known worldwide these days, his show seems to be shown everywhere (see wiki) - One of his earliest appearances on tv was on Father Ted as the memorably excrutiating Father Noel Furlong, some 25 years back.

Yes, 'Jeeves & Wooster' was perfect casting for both Fry & Laurie, but also (as per the photo shown), Hugh Laurie sang a few times in the episodes, although obviously in 'Bertie character' and for the period... 👍

Hello Joel. Had you heard the phrase "budgie smugglers" and got mixed up? I used to have budgies as a kid. I got some later because my girlfriend liked the little parakeets, especially watching the baby ones, never having had anything like that. One found a way to call the dog, which found a way to reach the cage and kiss it. I assumed you had seen pictures of flocks of these birds in the outback on your new channel. Also, Hugh Laurie is one person I did tune in to watch on Graham Norton's show, as he is very talented, so I had seen this on TV for a change.

Haha. Jps definitely had a problem getting a plaster/ Bandaid from the receptionist at his hotel. Not an accent issue, a word difference issue. He cut his finger when shaving. Poor Jps. He needs to be careful around sharp objects :-( haha

Big props to Simon who was DEDICATED to finishing his story. Also, TV Shows always have a chaotic Outro.
