As a dane I will give every tourist a good advice. Go outside Copenhagen. Denmark is much more than Copenhagen 😊 If you go outside Copenhagen then look for gust house called Kro. It’s a very small hotel but the food is often basic Danish food like our mom or grand mom made it 😋

Palle Jacobsen, I live in Copenhagen and I love everything about it, but I would say that it would be a pity if a turist doesnt spend at least some of their time in Denmark, visiting other places. There are so many interesting and beautiful places to enjoy in our country. Our beaches, islands, historic sites, music venues and theatres, specialities in food and drink and public transport is excellent (even though we do like to complain about it, its muuuuuch better than in most other countries😉), or one can rent bikes (with built in gps) or cars if you prefer driving. I may be a "city girl" but I do appreciate and feel lucky that I live in Denmark❤️🇩🇰

Thank you so much for the kind words, it’s nice to see people who also can appreciate our culture, when looking through a lot of videos, we are often seen as rude, because these people don’t really try to understand us, and only see the surface of our culture from outside of Denmark.

I lived in Denmark for over 3 years. I can highly recommend it. I was awful at the language though, it is beyond comprehension to speak it (reading and writing is straightforward though) - not that it mattered much for communication as pretty much everyone speaks perfect English. I absolute loves this video cause it makes me see our country in a different way, to us Danes we see this kind of lifestyle as Normal, so to hear how other people react to our culture is pretty interesting to me. So just to hear how some of the things we consider as small things such as food, hygge and even our trustworthiness all of these things are something I never really think about in my day to day life so just to hear how it impacts other people makes me appreciate it even more 😊

Somewhat surprised that you didn’t meant how beautiful the nature is with the country consisting of different islands with all beaches. Being from Skåne I have no problem to admit that I prefer Denmark to the rest of Sweden. But Skåne once referred to as ”the jewel in the Danish crown” before it was lost to Sweden is according to me equally beautiful together with some more shifting landscape. If you still are in Denmark towards Summer 2021. Take the Ferry from Helsingör to Helsingborg and then bike on Kattegattleden along the coast to Båstad. I think even danes who has done that can admit that this part of earlier Denmark but now Sweden is very beautiful. For me the the best thing with Denmark compared with Sweden is the different mentality which according to me is more laid back and liberal. According to me we have some of that mindset in Skåne also compared with other parts of Sweden. Also both the politics and the economy in Denmark has been much more well managed in Denmark compared with Sweden for the last 30-35 years. For instance an average Danish family today has about 1500 EUR more to spend per month than an average Swedish family.

There's one common problem that tourists or foreigners do when they come to Denmark. They visit Copenhagen and think "so this is how danes eat, drink and live". No, that's how the "hippie danes" are eating, drinking and living, not the COMMON dane. If you want to know how danes live, visit any other place than Copenhagen. Sure, Copenhagen is great with Tivoli, pølsevogne and bakeries, but the real danish food is as you said "mormor mad".

Oh.. I don't know what to say! It's a hard language! My only advice is to get over here, and maybe live with a danish family or something, so you have the language "next to you" all the time, and then just try and try! ♥️ But if you do, stress to the family (or friends etc), that you want to learn danish, cause most Danes will switch to English really quick when they speak to foreigners ☺️ Maybe you should come live with me! I love learning new languages, and back in the day, before kids and all that, my now husband and I visited Poland on some vacations, and I learned a little bit Polish (very little, but it was really interesting! 😄). ..Okay I can't really offer you that! To stay with us 😉☺️ But it would be a great experience, though ☺️🤩👍
