    1. So Ah Caramel is a vanilla sponge cake with a cream and caramel top covered in chocolate. It is extremely sweet and definitely a favourite for many Canadians. It comes in a packet with two squares. 2. I have never seen Map-O-Spread, it's probably not a common item in the area of Canada where I live (I'm from Ontario). Also, maple is a natural sugar... you can actually boil maple syrup until it almost instantly turns into a sugar. Maple sugar is a popular replacement for white sugar. 3. Deep and Delicious cakes are amazing... they are a frozen cake that is moist and sweet but not overpowering. They come in chocolate, vanilla, swirl (chocolate and vanilla), and coconut. 4. Kraft Peanut butter is a sweeter peanut butter, less salty than other brands and is sold in Costco here. Kraft Peanut butter actually used to come in a glass bear container. 5. Maple Leaf Cookies are delicious... but they can vary depending on what company makes them. Some companies put two vanilla cookies with maple cream, some have two maple cookies with maple cream, or some have two maple cookies with vanilla cream. It just depends on what you like. My husband who is from Miami, loves maple cookies and it is all four of our sons favourite cookie. 6. Yes we have little Debbie but it's not as popular as Vachon. Jos Louis have definitely gone down in quality... it was much better 10 or 15 years ago. It now has a little bit of a fake chocolate taste. I used to love these as a child.

Kind sir, it is NOT just some chocolate cake. It's got a thickness to the icing and a bounce to the cake like no other. One issue with the Deep and Delicious cake is that if for any reason the icing ends up touching something, it adhears instantly to the surface and is ripped entirely from the cake with a fine layer of crumbs stuck to its underside XD There's also a carrot cake version. Haven't seen it in a while, but it was pretty good too. Not as thick as the chocolate one, but still delightful ❤😊

The thing most people keep overlooking about the McCain cakes is they are frozen and are ready so quickly after taking out of the freezer. Okay, let me answer some of your questionnings.... I'm native from Montréal, Québec so I know all of these snacks.... Vachon Ah Caramel!, shes listed the composent at the beginning but you didn't rewinded enough, it's a square cake will a little circle of some icing containing the caramel, all dipped in chocolate. They also have May West cakes (vanilla type cake and icing sandwich, covered in chocolate) Joe Louis (Red Velvet sandwich cake with white sugary icing in between dipped in chocolate) Swiss Rolls (Chocolate cake rolled with a thin layer of white icing and of course also covered in chocolate!) Map-O-Spread, it's like a caramel texture and you're right thinking people eat this in the morning. Not my favorite, not into maple that much (yes, yes, born in Québec and don't enjoy maple syrup, throw rocks HAHA) McCain Deep'n'Delicious is as you said: Dangerous. They say the cake is 4-6 servings but I usually eat one binge watching my favorite Gilmore Girls episode... And you never tasted it to say ''just a chocolate cake'', let me tell you, it's NOT. Come over friend, I'll teach you french while snaking and touring around HEHE Kraft Peanut Butter, yup, already seen this one in another video and loved the bears too hihi Maple Leaf Cookies, like the rest of maple products, super sugary, a row is more than enough you'll see if you try and binge eat a box. Joe Louis, by far my favorite Vachon Cake. Yes, we do have a bit of Hostess and Little Debbie in store here. But you said it: higher quality is on the Vachon company side ;) Individual portions are actually ''Double-stuffed''... You can order them online she said? Would LOVE to have a reaction video of you trying these and tons of other snacks like these and throw in a pack of Ketchup flavored chips!!😂

McCain's is a New Brunswick success story. The Maritimes, especially New Brunswick and PEI, are known for growing potatoes, so that's where McCain's cut their teeth. (See also the Covered Bridge Potato Chip company that recently had a devestating fire). McCain's is a worldwide company, but their HQ is in a small town of a few thousand people 2 hours away from any major airport (okay 30-45 minutes if they go to Fort Fairfield, Maine I guess). They are known for Potato Chips mainly, but they also got into frozen pizzas and were successful there. (Pizza Pockets are ubiquitous up here because of them), and frozen juices. Deep and Delicious cakes are also one of their hits, a common treat you can get in the freezer section, it was a go-to "desert" to get or bring out for company after dinners. And also as a late night snack too. The freezing seems to make the sweetness even more delectable. McCain's is big in the states but probably not as much under their main brand names. Most specifically, because they are on the border with Maine, they do a lot of work in Maine and New England in general. They also have exclusive contracts with McDonalds to supply french fries (Apparently one of two companies that make McDs fries, and I think they are the exclusive supplier in Canada and other places in the world).

McCain doesn't make the frozen pizza anymore. That part of the business was sold to Dr. Oetker, a German company, who eventually retired the brand. That's two frozen pizza brands that are no longer available in Canada. At about the same time, Nestle pulled their entire frozen food lines out of Canada, including Delissio Pizza, which was originally introduced by Kraft Foods.

When I was a teenager, you used to be able to buy a large box of assorted Vachon cakes that were close to their "best before" date for a very low price. If you knew where to go. My mother would buy them and put them in our deep freezer so they wouldn't go stale. I remember her telling us that if we didn't eat the coconut covered cakes, she wasn't going to throw them away and buy another box. Map-o-spread is like caramel that you spread on toast, but it tastes like maple. It is very good. But, it's not a commonly consumed product. Those McCain's cakes are absolutely amazing. It's hard not to eat the whole thing by yourself. They are everywhere. You can buy them in a 7-11 gas station at three in the morning. Kraft peanut butter is the best non-boutique peanut butter. But, I don't know anyone who would call it a snack. Those maple cookies are like Oreo's. We have a section that stocks Oreo's, Pirate cookies which are peanut butter stuffed, Fudgee-O's which are chocolate stuffed, and the maple stuffed cookies. People often serve a selection of those four cookies to guests. I prefer Fudgee-O's. Joe Louie cakes are good. They are a little too dry to pig out on the way you would with one of those McCain's cakes. But if you have a jug of milk and a glass to drink it out of, that solves that problem. If you have the munchies, and milk, it's easy to finish an entire box while watching television.

You might find that Ah! Caramel, May West, and Jos.& Louis each have their adherents (talk aboot cults, heh, heh) My fave is May West, which is a mini vanilla layer cake, with a kind of Boston Cream filling, all coated with semi-dark chocolate icing - YUMMM! Growing up in Montreal, there used to be a rivalry between Coke and Pepsi, respectively favoured by English & French, so the slang nickname for French Quebecois was (Pepsi). SORRY, just the facts. no offense intended. BTW, May Wests, etc., were originally made by the (Stuart"s) bakery, which was within walking distance from my home. Also, there is a Quebec cookie maker (Leclerc) that has bought out plants in PA, TN, and AZ. And the Dare company in Ontario bought the Viau brand from QC. Among many other products, they make the old Viau (Whippet) cookies, which are Montreal originals.

When I was young, I lived in a town where there was a small Vachon cake factory. 2 days a week they opened the factory so that we could go and buy, at a discount, the boxes of cakes that had small defects and could not be sold to the general public. I remember my mom buying dozens of boxes and storing them in a big freezer in the basement... I miss those days when Vachon cakes were less sweet, more fluffy, and generous! I miss the raisin tarts since they don't exist anymore... 😞 By the way, maple syrup is our liquid gold, here in Quebec... ;-) There are A LOT of maple syrup producers in Quebec (simple to produce: you harvest the maple water from the maple trees and boil it to reduce the amound of water contained in it, concentrate the sugar, flavors and nutrients); we dont eat white sugar that much, maple syrup is our local sweetener... Just like cane sugar is the local sweetener in the West Indies, for exemple...

Hi Tyler ~ I have 2 boxes of “Maple Leaf” cookies - made by a Canadian company that sells on Amazon. If you are or anyone else is interested, I can share the brand and name of cookie. They are delightfully divine! Not as sweet as American versions , nor is the creamy filling “grainy” from excess sugar. Both the cookie and filling are creamy and smooth ~ and not too sweet! A couple of these sweet treats accompanied by a strong cup of Dark Roast Jumping Bean Coffee (Newfoundland coffee brand) and you have yourself a nice afternoon “pick-me-up” or JOLT - depending upon the number of cookies and cups of coffee you consume!😉 Hopefully, You and other will the Canadian brands if these cookies…some are certainly better than others and taste more “homemade” than others! I was fortunate to grow up with an extended family of aunts and both my mother and her father were Pastry Chefs, so I was fortunate to try nothing but “homemade” versions of everything, as that’s all that was in our home. I had the good sense and perhaps was expressing my “creative” gene, as I also draw/sketch with charcoals, dabble in watercolours, and experiment with other artistic materials (Candy blowing)…but…my first love is is being blessed with a grandfather and mother who taught me so much, and has become my passion! This afternoon, I’m making several loaves of Cinnamon Raisin Bread, along with a couple of savory Ciabatta loaves to give to my elderly neighbours! I enjoy giving my creations away, rather than eating them…so…my neighbours, the Salvation Army, senior complexes and the homeless are my “taste testers”, and in return, I end up with a heart full of JOY! Ah Caramel and Joe Louis call now: Ah! Louis, Passion Flakie fused with the Ah! Caramel call: Passion Caramel. I also saw a fusion of maple syrup and the Ah! Caramel, instead of Caramel inside, it was maple syrup. There is also Big Louis, but I don't know if the exact name, anyway, it's a Joe Louis but with 2 cakes, two times the cream inside on two layers. I think that Kraft Peanut Butter even made a pair of teddy bears that apparently synchronize between each other no matter the distance. They light up when one is holding it, or something like that. It had a cute commercial of a kid at camp and a father picks his up and the child’s lights up and cheers the home sick kid up. Mmmmm Maple cookies. Joe Lois are still around but I havent had it. The other three I mention are definitely my 90s treats. The peanut butter being the most common, then the Cakes and occasionally the maple cookie, which it is simply called. This is the first video that I have seen of you and if you want to see some Canadian stuff that is outside food, check out the Red Green Show. It was a Canadian sitcom (I guess you could call it) of an outdoorsy sketch show of a “not-so-handy” handy man running a log that is 42 beer stores north.

Hi. I'm 64 years old and live in Toronto. While there is a fair amount of maple syrup made in Quebec, I find that it isn't as popular as you might think simply because of it being extremely expensive. Those maple leaf cookies are okay. If you love Oreos, they're similar but just with maple-ish flavour and you'd probably find yourself eating rows of them just like Oreos. . Those Ah Caramel are a square cake with a vanilla icing on top with caramel on top of that and then covered in chocolate. You could stick it all in your mouth but not too easily. It's at least a two bite or three for comfort. I've never seen Map-O-Spread so I can't say anything about it other than if it were in the U.S., it might be fairly popular in Vermont, New Hampshire and around that area. A lot of people in Vermont are quite proud of the maple syrup produced there. I can almost guarantee that you'd love those McCain frozen cakes. Everybody I know loves those. You can find yourself popping that top off and taking a fork to the whole cake. It really is hard to stop eating it. I don't find anything over exciting about Kraft peanut butter. It just seems to be roughly the same as most other peanut butters such as Jif etc. I eat a more expensive brand made only from peanuts. Not to be snobby, I just want 100% peanuts in it that's all. The Jos Louis are quite good and there are some Little Debbie products here but not everywhere on a wide scale. I'm actually surprised that they didn't talk about another Vachon cake called the "Passion Flakie". It's a puff pastry filled with cream and a raspberry (I believe) filling also and are very good.

The Map-O-Spread is a Quebec thing. I think it's popular in eastern Ontario close to the Quebec border, but I don't know beyond that. It has a maple flavour but doesn't contain maple syrup. Real maple syrup is very expensive, but it's something that I always have on hand. I buy it in cans when it's on sale. The fancy glass jars that you often see are more tourist souvenirs than anything else. A lot of people who think they eat maple syrup are actually buying high fructose corn syrup with some maple flavouring. It's much cheaper.

I grew up in BC in the 70s so we couldn't get cheap maple syrup. Instead, my mother bought something called "Maple-een" (sp?) which was a concentrate that you mixed with boiling water. I wonder if it was made by the same company. When I got married and moved to Quebec, we would always take or send maple syrup to our families at Christmas. My eldest sister finally confided a few years ago that her family preferred the fake😂

It's Quebecois, not Canadian, like many of the snacks in this video. Anglo Canadians will often wrongly claim things from Quebec (poutine, ice hockey, beaver and maple symbols, national anthem, maple syrup culture, etc.) which suppresses and hurts quebecois culture.

Here's some more interesting peanut butter facts about Canada: up until a while ago we had three major kinds smooth, crunchy, and extra smooth (which basically had some kind of thin molasses in it, made it a bit too sweet in my eyes). These days we still have three kinds, but extra smooth is gone, and it's been replaced by dark (which uses dark roasted peanuts, and is amazing).
