They protect the lower legs from bumps and add support for the fetlocks and tendons/ ligaments.

What until the BCC, Beholder and Honor Code and Tonalist are going to crush this horse. Three year olds (other than Secretariat which this horse isn't) do not beat the best older horses. Zayats ducked beholder and Honor Code long enough!
