@@dffndjdjd Much of that is true, but if Trump has taught us anything, it is the wisdom of having the states and localities run the elections. That does not mean that (as we did before the GOP gutted the Voting Rights Act) that the federal government cannot act to ensure they do it fairly. But if the federal government was in control of the election this year, there would not be anything close to a fair, or safe election in any state in the Union.

In Australia, with a population one twelfth the size of the US, we have nearly 9000 polling places for federal elections, or roughly 1 for every 1600 voters. In 35 years of voting, my typical wait time has been 5 minutes and I've NEVER waited more than 15 minutes to vote. The US system is so broken, it can hardly even still be called a democracy.

I've had similar experiences in Canada. I've never waited for than 15 minutes to vote in municipal, provincial, or federal elections. Our voter registration is automatic (though voting is not mandatory like in Australia, Hotcanada), polling stations are evenly and efficiently distributed throughout every electoral district, and we also use independent electoral commissions to set the boundaries of these electoral districts every ten years. These horror stories from the United States sound so alien to me, i'm thankful to say. We also use paper ballots that can't be hacked. And in Canada, provinces run provincial elections, and the federal level runs federal elections -- how things should be. I imagine that Australia is the same.

I think the best solution would be in giving are votes value. If the electoral college is removed then the president would be decided by a majority. That would lead to a more democratic federal system. To affect change on a state level we would need to disable gerrymandering. In addition removal of voting districts would make it impossible to suppress the vote by area. That would encourage officials to focus more on what helps all of us instead of a base. These changes would make it harder to suppress vote and it would help bring are government closer to a democracy. I don't think we would be able to eliminate individuals from suppressing voters they believe would harm them but we can make it harder to suppress votes. However to get to that point we need to reform are voting system.

In a word, NO. First of all let's dispense with the word Christian. These people who identify with the word Christian are not in actual fact Christian. They are merely hiding behind the word to make others feel and seem evil. Christianity is not defined by words. It is defined by acts. People who call themselves atheists yet who do the works of Christ are in effect, Christ like and will be viewed as such on what the Evangelicals call "judgement day". So the hypocrisy of the so-called Evangelical Christians is clear for all to see. They're all talk and no Christ-like action.

I was in Costa Rica during their presidential elections in 2018, voting is mandatory in a symbolic way, meaning it's not enforced. But they don't really need to enforce it. People get up early, they have free transportation to the voting centers, civilians will volunteer to transport people to vote, the estate and private companies will give their employees the free time they need to go vote, they have guides and scouts at the polling centers to help assist senior and disabled citizens, voting is their right and they are very proud of their elections and institutions. America could benefit a lot by following the example of a developing nation in central america, their sense of duty, their truly free and fair elections and their pride for being one of the oldest democracies in the world.

It is still difficult for some people to get to a poll to vote. Republicans give rides to people so they can vote. Why are poll monitors not allowed at all polls? History matters but adapting to the current needs matter also. Both sides play dirty. This election season I have found one place that is quiet. The third party....silent. we are so polarized we are tearing apart. I hear both sides trying to reach similar goals but arguing about how to get there. They say they aren't but really it is. The main objective is power, control and money for all of them. The politicians may intend to help, serve and represent the people but once they are in office they are in a system... It owns them. They are rewarded for following it. This is why Trump has a large support base. Regardless of how things have turned out, the supporters want to be heard and see their elected leaders DO SOMETHING other than play the political game. Trump is not politically correct. This is a movement on the right that the left never knew would happen. Now we are polarized. It will flip one way or the other and our country will never be the same. Maybe that is good. Or it may tear us apart. If we want to leave a better world for future generations maybe we should accept responsibility for our mess and stop trying to fix it by destroying one another. Our young USA government is is the rebellious teenage years. It is time to mature. Make good decisions for all the people, and calm down. Control our response, react with maturity. That is what I would like my political leaders to do. Stop putting on a show to win over constituents. Be real and end the bubble of politics they all live in. The American people do not live in that bubble with you. Break that bubble and get busy working on saving this nation to pass down to the next generation. It can be better than it ever was. Or we can divide and collapse. We do have foreign enemies who are waiting for us to fall. If we cherish our values, our freedom and the opportunities some take for granted, we should focus on the most important things and make it happen. We are different in America, we do have a different set of belief's and drive to achieve. Just stop being so stupid, mean spirited, and blind to the needs of people who are hurting and need help to get there with you. That is a biblical concept. America needs a good therapist. All of this mess we are in boils down to choices about our behavior toward one another. The problems we face are there regardless, how we overcome them depends on how we choose to behave. We are clashing with each other and it has to stop. If not there will be a vacuum without any leadership and we will be prime for losing our country. We will not pass down a better America; a country that overcame the errors of our beginnings, and restored to a healthy, strong, vibrant nation the world wants to be like. We are crumbling. Maybe that is what some people want to see happen so we can become a different kind of nation. I don't want a new nation. I want a better America; one that did not throw in the towel and say, oh that didn't work, let's try something else. Freedom is worth saving. People today are willing to give it up for whatever is being sold. If that doesn't scream capitalism I don't know what does! Or is it socialism? It is interesting that the platform of politically incorrect is full blown, to the point where Bill is giving examples of what Trump's words spoken by Obama sound like. Bill and Trump have something in common. They both hate political correctness. The irony!

The Democracy Index ranks the US a flawed democracy in 25th place, somewhere along the lines of Malta and Botswana. I wonder where it will end op after the 2020 elections? The good thing is that the world will no longer have to stand for the US's sanctimonious preachings on democracy (where it ranks 25th), press freedom (the US ranks 45th), economic freedom, advancement and opportunity (17th), and we haven't even mentioned it being the premiere prison and apartheid state. I live in Harris County, specifically in Houston, specifically in a largely black neighborhood (4th Ward). I can't speak to the mail-in ballot drop box situation, but in-person voting was easy. I voted last Saturday. The line was less than 1 minute. The line was "social distanced", the staff were behind screens, and they even gave you little finger covers for when using the machines. Just get out of your car and vote in person! Who (beyond disabled people and the immune-deficient) is waiting for hours for the drop box when you can walk right in? Bill has been talking for months about how ridiculous people have been behaving since COVID, and I think this applies. If the election is important to people, they can get out of their cars and interact with humanity for a few minutes.

No one has waited for hours to go to a drop box - where the fuck did you get that? And in many places (maybe not YOUR polling place) people ARE waiting for hours! People HAVE been interacting for HOURS! But that is totally irrelevant to the point that they should not HAVE to in a pandemic if they do not want to! What about my mom? Sadly, she died a few weeks ago, but she wanted to vote - she had heart problems (at 84) that she had had since she was a kid, and respiratory problems, and arthritis - Covid would have killed her easily. It may have, but other things got her first. But if those other things had not, would you think it was fair ton make her expose herself to near certain death to vote? Maybe she got to vote - she sent in a ballot by mail two weeks before she died. I don't know if it will count or not - it probably should not. But where she lived, she would not have qualified to vote by mail before Covid. Another thing about drop boxes - it depends on where you put the one, and to contradict Bill, in a tiny county it has less effect, but is also less fair! In Van Buren County, MI - a drop box in the center of the county would be as much as a 40 minute one way drive or more. Why would anyone make people spend so much time to simply drop off a ballot? Only one reason - to stop them from doing it. You missed the whole point of the video, which is that people should not have to jump through hoops or risk their lives to get to vote!

If abortion in clean medical facilities is made illegal, then illegal abortions in unclean nonmedical facilities will become the norm, despite the criminality of it, because some abortions truly are medically and psychologically necessary. I suppose you'd like to force some eleven-year-old girl, likely to die during childbirth, who is raped by her senile grandfather to carry that baby to term and that upon delivery of that abomination of love into this world you would point at her half-dead face, laughing and mocking her for being so stupid as to have gotten pregnant in-the-first-place? You do not know how sick you are that you do not know that abortion is sometimes necessary and that pregnancy should always be a choice and it is not anybody BUT the person who becomes pregnant's choice as to whether they want to be. It is not my place to decide if any person should have an abortion and it is not my place to say that the option to have an abortion should never be available ever under any circumstances. Make crackheads raise crack babies in crack houses into husks of grownup humans because nobody should ever have the right to choose? You decide who has to give birth to and raise children in the world? You are so sick that you do not know how sick it is that you believe every baby is a miracle and that every mother is a saint and that every society is a picket fenced playground where drivers go slow because children are at play and that every life is in perfect order and must make all embryos gestate into babies, even if those babies might be born with unsurvivable deformities. Weird: If you read "Peter Pan" there is an odd section at the beginning about how the Darling children came to be, invol;ving the father, Mister Darling, looking at his finances and the housing situation and deciding that they should have each child that comes along.

There have been many militant uprisings against discrimination much less than the GOP have tried. I live in Ireland, where discrimination nowhere near the extent to which the GOP does lead to a 30 year conflict

Actually in NY state, you put your ballot into an envelope, seal it, sign it, then put it into another larger envelope and mail it. 55cents postage.

Well I got my early mail in vote ticket. I filled it in . Placed in envelope 1 . Then signed it. Then placed that into envelope 2 sealed and signed that. Then I walked to the post office [ unreliable pick up service , & no drop boxes anywhere ] and hand placed my vote envelope into the mail slot inside the post office. From here on in my vote is in the hands of a Republican . Let's see if my vote gets counted this year .
