Ren and Chinchilla refer to each other as musical siblings. Nothing romantic between them, just a love of music. They have 3 more videos together on KZread. One original: How To Be Me (live). Two videos of cover songs: Sexual Healing and a mashup of One Dance and Drunk in Love. Ren was back in the UK around New Year's and he got in the studio with Chinchilla again, so I'm sure we have another duet coming soon! Oh, and definitely check out her solo work: Elements, Cut You Off, Little Girl Gone, and Fingers (Live)

This was a great reaction. The usual take-away is that is is a song about how the wrong medication prescribed by doctors can make you feel numb and like you are floating in a Chalk outline. If you think their harmonies were great here, prepare for your jaw to drop when (hopefully) you react to their other duet "How to be me (live)". If you like Ren's singing voice, it's just his voice and an acoustic guitar on his latest track "Fred Again Mashup" which is pure gold. When you want to get back to him actually rapping, I would go with the song "Sick boi" to start.

Great reaction! You'll find that one of Ren's many, MANY talents is picking collaborators. Each will astonish you in their own right. This rabbit hole has A LOT of off-shooting tunnels, and they're all worthwhile.

Bibi was his girlfriend during his worst time with lime Disease they had a "beautiful" song together called :Ren ft Bibi -Crutch.

Ahh, I also wanted to recommend 'Ren ft. Bibi - Crutch' 👍. Absolutely great song, heartbreaking, beautiful and deep. And a song which far too few reactions. "Crutch" dates back to a time when Ren thought he wouldn't live much longer. Bibi launched an appeal for donations for his treatment/diagnosis. If I understood correctly, it was the basis for his Lyme disease diagnosis in Brussels.

If I remember correctly, the fund raiser was to pay for stem cell treatment. It helped get him out of the worst part of his illness, but his current treatment seems to be improving his health more. Hopefully back to enough normalcy to be able to perform.

Chinchilla isn't (and hasn't been) Ren's girlfriend to the best of my knowledge. She's another upcoming British singer/songwriter who's a powerhouse in her own right. Check out some of her own stuff - "Fingers (live)" and "Little Girl Gone" are a good start. Ren refers to her as his "musical sibling". For more Ren and Chinchilla, check out the live version of "How To Be Me", it's absolutely heartbreaking. As for Ren himself, you've just broken the surface of an artist of incredible depth, talent and versatility. He raps... like you wouldn't believe. Take a look at "The Hunger", "Illest of Our Time" and for the pure fun of it, "What You Want". But there's so much more... you can't go wrong with any of his songs or collaborations. Oh, and he used to be in a band called The Big Push who have several songs on KZread - their covers of "I Shot The Sherrif/Road To Zion/Hip Hop" and Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" are amazing. Look for the videos where Ren's wearing red suspenders/braces.

Oh boy! Yes he can sing. Keep going, and take a little diversion into Ren's time with The Big Push. The nails, and outrageous style are Chinchilla's trademark. (The nails are fake). Chinchilla is just a musical friend. Grab the tissues, and listen to them do "How to Be Me" live performance. And maybe try Chinchilla's "Fingers" live performance. . . if you are feeling brave.

"How I be me" is even better than this one. You need to find out a bit about his friend Joe who has inspired a number of Ren's songs, including how to be me. Ren is a once in a generation artist who appeals to a wide audience. I am 73 and grew up with the Beatles, Ren is this generations Beatles. Particularly when he is playing with his band The Big Push all of whom are brilliant musicians and singers.

This song is about medication given for depression. Her first sung words are 'Setriline and a sip of Serotonin' which are depression meds. Ren is talking about how these drugs just leave you feeling like the dead walking, hence the 'chalk outlines'. It talks about how instead of helping him, they just numbed his being. Hope that helped x

Absolutely watch Chinchilla perform "Fingers" live for Hunger TV. Chinchilla stated she has stage fright, and the outfits and nails put her into character where she feels comfortable. They have another together titled "How to be Me."

Chinchilla is the best female singer ever! Check her out. Her voice is amazing!

He's also done 2 songs with another ex girlfriend Eden Nash. The songs are called 'humble' and 'ocean'! Also please get into the big push wade in the water/Nina simone/trouble so hard. Ren's voice REALLY shines in that video ❤❤❤

Chinchilla only wears the nails because it’s apart of her character as “chinchilla” I would definitely recommend listening to some of her music such as fingers/Little girl gone and Elements🥰

"How to be me" is next? Has to be the live one.. after that, I think a busking session..

The feeling when you are on medication for me personally is exactly as he describes it here, you feel like a floating chalk outline trying to find your way back to who you used to be, because when you are on the meds, you never feel like yourself and you are not. So the symbolism is that you basically feel like a walking corpse while your soul is off somewhere else and you can't find or trace it back again. While everyone around you just says just take some pills and you'll be fine, which, if you live with a lifelong severe depression like i am, never will be. This song always get's to me because it hits so close to home, just like Hi Ren did.

It’s the first time I’ve come across your channel. This is an amazing song. He is beyond an amazing artist. I think he will end up being one of the most influential artist of our time. I say he’s like Eminem and Prince had a baby.there’s nothing he can’t do how you’re saying how Mason is singing voice is in this one. His guitar skills are amazing. His voice is amazing he Raps amazing his bands amazing , literally everything he touches turns to gold. Combine that with his story, and how humble. he is he truly once in a lifetime artist. This song is my favourite of my favourites from Ren - it was the 2nd song I heard by him and I was blown away and hooked forever. Ren & Chinchilla are just beautiful together in the emotion they flood out. If you loved this then "How to be Me" (Live) is a Must Watch with them - a song Ren wrote about his best friend Joe who threw himself off a bridge aged just 19 and hurts Ren deeply still to this day but is also one of th reasons Ren's felt he strength to carry on with his life no matter how much he was suffering

Really liked your take on this, it was great. ❤ For me, lyrics here don't matter as much. It's the emotion in the music. It could be in another language and I'd feel the same way. ❤❤. Ren is famous for doing live one take video clips and finding rooms, hallways and streets that make the sound lifted to a new level. A perfect example of his talents is "Story of Jenny and Screech trilogy" three one take videos that must be watched back to back. You will not be disappointed.

It drives me crazy that the subtitles are wrong :D Love the song so much

For his singing the busking vids with The Big Push a good start....the I Shot the Sheriff/Zion/hip-hop performance is a standard beginning, also Bongo Bongo and War Pigs, Blind Eyed with the Angry Parking Attendant

Ren continues his personal story of dealing with medical/psychiatric malpractice that left him (and countless others) in a state of permanent recovery and relapse........."Don't cry 'cause there's a pill for everything"

Ren puts a lot of thought into his art. An example...one line of the song talks about the fear of feeling ok. If you remember the chair in the intro bit...... if you google "phobia of feeling ok" , you'll see a reference to the chair......:)

I have a tip for you, and I mean this in the most helpful and courteous way only, not trying to talk down to you or mansplain things, this is just because you stated you were bad with computers and editing, if u know this already, please disregard. If you are using a laptop/pc using windows, once you have the video pulled up and are ready to play it, this shortcut cheat sheet should really make things easier for you....... First, place the mouse pointer anywhere above the red progress bar that is near the bottom of the screen, but still within the frame of the video and double click quickly, this will automatically make the video full screen (doing so again reduces the screen). Leave the mouse where it is and don't touch, after three seconds, progress bar, control buttons and mouse pointer will disappear and the screen will go to regular brightness. During playback of the video there is no need to touch the mouse as long as your laptop/pc has a functioning keyboard.......... For numbers one thru nine (1-9), think of the video as a whole, being 100%, so if you hit the number three (3), the video will automatically go to the spot where the video is 30% played, if you hit the number five (5), the video will go to exactly the half way, or 50%, mark, and so on and so on. Hitting the "End" key will go to the very end of the video. Ren and Chinchilla have another live song called How to be me and also a couple of live street performances (busking). All a great😂 I would like to recommend Ren and Sam Tompkins , Blind Eyed MC Session. There are several versions of this song but for me this one is the best. You could react to the other versions as well and everyone would be happy with it. Particularly the angry carpark attendant one😂 Good reaction to chalk outlines could see the emotion thanks.

Listen to the official version of Ren Blind Eyed, and then react to the Angry Car Park Attendant version. I honestly think people should hear the official version first to appreciate hoe well Ren and Sam vocalise the instrument on the Chorus!

Ren has an amazing back catalogue. However, it is a good idea to do some of the more light heated stuff to break up the emotional ones. Some of the earlier big push and busking videos are excellent relief. Love your reaction, welcome to the rabbit hole.

I absolutely LOVE this video. However I love it so much that I hate the studio version. I seriously HATE it. That feels wrong, but it's my true opinion. Great reaction. I'll check out more of you. I'm a reaction addict, and I pass by many, with only one watch. I'm pretty sure they were never "involved". He sort of describes her as his "musical sister"

Song with substance.

It's about medications that make you feel okay, but just for a short time; pills are chalky, and they don't last for very long with folks on anti-depressants/ anti-psychotics. So when he says, "I'm still here in this bed that I crawled in; I hope that I'm someone else in the morning", and, "I'm scared of being okay, 'cause all things change" he's talking about personality/mood changes that accompany his treatments. I feel like when he & Chinchilla met, they were like "Hey, I know you!" because they're on the same wavelength (although, in this video, I always worry about Chinchilla's nails Wolverine-ing Ren.)

Chalk Outlines the feeling you get when you disassociate your emotional self from reality through the use of prescribed medications... I don't feel this song is a "proper" duet, it's more like 2 ghost's singing the same song in a corridor they haunt, Chinchilla's voice hauntingly echoing Ren's as they go through the pain of being chalk outlines.. A "proper" duet between them is the "Live" version of "How to be Me" sung between them on the bridge where Ren's friend Joe unalived himself, it is a beautiful song in tribute to Joe's memory.

Great comment, but it's not true about the location of the How to be me video, that was done on a rooftop (either London or Brighton I expect). The bridge where Joe took his life is in North Wales.

The nails, she puts on only when she performs. Or so i heard. You've got 2 channels... that confused me for a moment. I subscribed then unsubscribed, realised and subscribed again. I have a crazy bad memory... thought I'd lost it 😂 The chalk outlines. Taking medication changes you and you disappears, so it's like a chalk outline around a corpse as you yourself have been erased
