Bro American lion was more related to lions and it was certainly a lion. In past, it was thought to be more closely related to jaguars cause of their jaw structure but according to the latest DNA test, it was confirmed that it was a Lion. Overall Great video! 👍🏻

Actually, the American lion is more closely related to Lions as we thought not the Jaguar so it’s been debunked now

One thing what would be also quite important to know when the fight-part between these two comes: Were short-faced bears aggressive bears like nowadays' grizzlies or did they avoid fighting? Because lions are dominant in fights and bears what avoid fighting show submission to lions.

A bear would destroy a lion with ease

Short face bear is gonna win, id say 70% of the time. American lions are one of the and probably is the biggest cat of all time. But the bear is just too tall and too powerful. Note: American Lion and African lion are two different cats, ive seen people get mixed up with it.

Being more dominant is not an advantage whatsoever. Panthera atrox weighs much less than any kind of short faced bear and it wasn’t in the species Panthera leo, meaning it wasn’t a lion.

It’s a 750-pound cat against a 2,000-pound bear. The American lion would likely need to successfully ambush the bear to win. Otherwise, the short-faced bear would probably be the more favorable victor.

It depends which short faced bear it is - if it is *arctodus simus/ north American short faced bear* that lived with the American lion then it will win 65% of the times in my opinion but if it is *arcotherium angustidens/ south American short faced bear* then it will have 75% Chance because - North American short faced bear - 1250 kg South American short faced bear - 1750 kg

A. simus was a species of short-faced bear, and it wasn’t the only species of short-faced bear. Species falling under the genuses Arctodus (like simus), Arctotherium, Plionarctos and Tremarctos (which includes the extant spectacled bear) are all “short-faced bears”. That being said, A. simus will destroy P. atrox 100% of the time, being simply too big for the lion.
