I love this introduction of Lana. Her high heal crushing the cigarette, the fixing of her hair, the Carrie theme. Awesome

Jessica, Sarah, and Lily acted the hell out of this season. They did in Coven too. This short scene even showcases their talent.

Ahh, seeing Lana's beginning was everything. I could see the light shining off of her like an angel. She's so beautiful and adorable. Her honey-sweet voice, dreamy lisp, angel smile, shiny eyes, everything about her makes every part of my body grow weak, and it feels so mighty good. ❤️❤️❤️

I agree, she was an amazing character, I'd honestly only put her below Fiona Goode. I loved Fiona's character, it was well made, but Sister Jude was played amazingly and gave awesome work into the series :)

Asylum will forever be the best season of American Horror Story

I binged Asylum in a day or two several years ago. For months, literally months, the name Lana Winters haunted me. I couldn't get it out of my head. I've seen every season of AHS, but something about Season 2 got to me. Maybe it was the powerlessness of being sane and being imprisoned and being told you're nuts. It's like Girl Interrupted. When enough people tell you you're crazy, maybe you start to believe it. No telling how many folks have been locked up in hospitals and prisons over the last three centuries and were driven crazy by the virtue of being confined and tortured.

Um.. girl interrupted is the true story of a woman with borderline personality disorder, more recently known as emotion regulation disorder... she tried to kill herself and was truly in need of being institutionalized for her own safety.

​@@softsixSusanna wasnt even institutionalized, she was voluntarily treated in one the countrys top psychiatric hospitals. She even mentions one of her fellow patients had to be discharged because she couldnt afford the treatment there.

I absolutely love how Asylum used two of the tracks from CARRIE (1976) for this opening scene. It was very fitting and set the tone real good!

Are people really this moronic these days? Lana is blatantly based off Nellie Bly... the reporter who got herself admitted to a an asylum to report first hand accounts of these institutions. She spent ten days in hell before the paper she worked for (I believe it was The World, though that may be bc I remember her infamous making around the world in 80 days reporting) had her discharged. No... this character is not based on some wannabe edges whiny bitch artist... it’s based on a woman who didn’t cry about life and run from it, but a woman who had the guts to PURPOSELY IMMERSE HERSELF IN DANGER to bring the facts to others. Your conclusion is almost like saying in GRR martins ASOIAF books Joffrey (Anglo term for what it is now Geoffrey...) is based on Jeffrey Dahmer because the Names are the same and they both “project a similar sense of insanity”. Our generation has become worthless bc people like you don’t get how to look deeper than pop culture and look into the copious amounts of historical concepts that influence art....

I’ve only just started on the season “Cult” but so far IMO, of the first 6 seasons Asylum is THE best season of AHS.

Using pieces from other film scores is very Tarantino. Ryan has a great attention to detail. The music really works here and doesn't feel like it is out of place.

Yeah having a literal demon in a season and muddling it with ‘aLiEnS’ was not a wise choice but it was still a great season, nonetheless.

this is by far the best opening in a series with the Carrie music 😩 I wish they stuck with using horror music from movies
