I believe AG was thinking an early GOTY release would encourage parents to purchase her for Christmas! I love her and all her collection! And, I seriously would have gone GaGa for her horse as a child, putting those sticky gems on everything (phone, fanny pack, glasses!)!😄 Love the enfacise on hair styling with Lila's collection, too! In my opinion, AG did a fantastic job!👏 Congratulations on your numbers Emma, you deserve it!!!😊

I went to horse camp around 10 years old and definitely one of the highlight activities was getting to braid my all white horse's hair with colorful strings and beads. We did it on the first or second day of camp and got to keep it like that until the end of the week. So frankly I think Lila's horse is super cute. Won't be buying though, I don't do AG pets. I think Lila looks a lot like Lea, and of the two I think I'd rather have Lea. I wish meet outfits were purchasable separate! Maybe I'll get some of Lila's outfits down the line.

I’m excited to see your own comparison of Evette and Lila! I agree with you, I love the orange and pink combination which reminds me of my time in Arizona in undergrad with Sedona. Personally, I am not purchasing her due to financial difficulties with graduate school. I normally don’t collect GOTY unless Corrine and Kavi with dolls of color.

Thanks Emma for this great review. I think Lila is super cute and I think it is partly because of how much she resembles Evette! I do like Evette’s hair and if I owned her I would probably style her hair and then not touch it. Lila’s horse is super cute. I would love to see how it would look without the colored hair and gems. I like a natural looking horse and it would be nice to have the choice. Wow congrats on 2000 subscribers! How wonderful❤

this doll is literally me loll, I ride horses and I want to become a gymnast as well so when I saw this doll I was literally so happy, I'm getting her for Christmas I'm so excited!! Kinda sucks that I got the gymnastics set for my birthday because Lila's is so much more colorful and fun but whatever, I'm also so excited to have actual gymnastics outfits instead of me using ballet leotards and swimsuits heh heh *me realizing the bars I have is only one bar and not uneven ones so now I have an excuse to get Lila's bars*

Loved hearing your thoughts and I agree with a lot. I agree that Lila looks a LOT like Evette, but at the same time I love them both so much, so it's hard to complain. Maybe, if I get them both one day, they could be twins or siblings or something. I can already envision all the cute photos of them together...🤩 I also agree that the Josefina face mold is way overdone, but, again, it's my fav mold so what can I say. AND, #118 IS AMAZING! I have her and love her so much, she is so cute, especially in fall outfits. Mine is named Colette. I hope you are able to get her and have a great time at the AG store!💕 (Also, P.S., the end of this video made me smile so much:)) New subscriber here!!)

Lila is a very pretty girl and AG's target audience will really love her. She would be a good first doll for children and collectors too. I probably won't get her. She's lovely but my main interest is the historical line and I recently completed my collection with the exception of Courtney, Nicki and Isabel. Probably won't be buying those girls either. As collectors we have to curate our collections somehow!

I'll be in Dallas at the end of the month! I was going to buy Lila there but they caught me with their 4X sale and I ended up ordering here instead. Though I think I'm going to be filling out her collection with an assortment of things because I'm not that fond of pink. I'm looking at Nicki's skateboarding outfit for the overalls. And the GIrl of Today TShirt... and maybe the Trolls Nightgown. I might even trade out Saige's meet dress and boots instead. (which I have because its the closest name to mine they've had)

I think the horse *looks* cheep because of the coloring, the light coat with the pink looks VERY barbie, and barbies horse is usually, maybe, $20. Also, i am surprised we didnt get a bed or sleeping situation for her lol

I think Lila is beautiful. I was disappointed in her eye color. Not because I think they are not pretty but because as pointed out this is a fairly common eye color for AG dolls and characters and there has not been a GOTY with a blue eye color since 2015. While I am super glad AG has been featuring dolls of various ethnicities for this doll (again, my preference) I would have liked to see a blue eye color or a new eye color altogether. I think it would have made her hair stand out all the more.

I really like Lila, though I'm not a fan of how similar she is to Evette. That said, Lila is one of my favorite names of all time, so I knew as soon as her name was leaked that I'd probably get her just for her name 😅 But she is really cute so I do want her and I'm inordinately obsessed with the hair gems

I feel like I'm the only one who loves her horse riding outfit

I like very much this doll: I believe that make her as the new girl of the year has been a very good choice; her comparision with Lizzy Mc Guire is very interesting (I know this character and, a few years ago, watched her movie and tv series on Disney Channel), less with Britney Spears, which, in my opinion, is not the best example to follow; Interesting is know that McKenna (I knew her very well by watching her movie) is became her gym teacher, and even, as I heard, Lila has italian origins. I like her supplied outfit (the jacket is adorable), but less the boots: I agree with you that, with their sparkling pink, they are really not believeble horsegirl shoes; I would have seen better a pair of brown boots in style of Lara Croft's ones. About the audience to which American Girl addresses, I am not sure that is mainly constituted by chidren: I seen on these videos that these dolls have thousands and thousands of adult passionate followers (I include myself, too); I am sorry to know that the store in Houston and some others closed (but in the meantime others, as the one in Los Angeles, opened): maybe even in U.S.A., as in Europe, always more people buy the items on line and the shops are less attended. I hope that A.G. will release a movie of this girl: I'd like very much watch it and know more about this girl; till now I chosed, as my dolls, the classic characters, but Lila could become my first modern one. Yes: she is worth how costs and deserves to be purchased!

First off, don't hate me AG community, but apparently I have the opposite thoughts on this...but 1st: Love your videos and congrats on 2grand!! (but sure that would have also looked nicer in your bank account. Lol! 😄 Onto my thoughts... 1st. I really don't get why everyone is so obsessed with Kavi?? Don't get me wrong, I like the doll, but there are soo many other past GOTY dolls that are definitely standing in line ahead of her to be added to my collection, including Corine and Lila. I don't like the fact that her year was cut short as in past years it was my New Years Day tradition to go onto AG to see what the new girl of the year looked like. So bummed I already know in October. 2nd. I would have actually preferred her horse riding outfit as her meet outfit vs what she comes in...don't get me wrong, the meet and riding outfits are my 2 top fanvs of her collection, but would have rather had the riding one with her. About the riding outfit...I Love everything Except the boots!! Against the black pants they look Great, but kind of clash with the rest of the outfit. There are so many better riding type boots from past Girl of Today/Truly Me meet outfits and even some from Julie's earlier outfits that would have looked better. Maybe they would have been better with out the shine, and a touch lighter shade of hot pink to better match the top half of the outfit. I get what people are saying about the sequins, so maybe it would have been better to have a single stripe going down the sleeve instead of the whole sleeve. However I do like her meet hair style best. 3rd. Josefina, is one of my favorite molds. I don't know which is my top favorite, but its definitely one of them. Oh, and lastly...LOVE how you started the video...Happy New Year!! 😀 Bonus: My first reaction to Lila was she felt like she was a repeat/recycled storyline doll and character. For the story, she seemed like a combination of Saige's and Mckenna's storyline (into gymnastics and loves horses), as for the doll itself, a combination of Saige and Felicity (has a horse and red hair).

Just an update to my comment: After getting the October catalog, I believe even stronger that Lila's horse riding outfit should have been her meet outfit, while her meet outfit should have been her casual or everyday outfit. After seeing the boots, they look a lot better in the catalog pics than on the website. But after seeing her meet outfit I've really come to hate it. Am I the only one who when looking at her meet pants the first thing I think of is Courtney's Strawberry Shortcake items??? My only other favorite outfit is her pajamas...I Love the swirled pants!! Wish they had made a matching top, and maybe made her slippers the blue color of her t-shirt, instead.

we feel like she looks like Nicki Fleming a bit but the Mckenna twist definitely changed things for us cuz we LOVE mckenna!

I actually really like Lila and her collection I love her pjs and her gymnastics outfit I’m unsure about her but I do think she is a cute doll though ☺️

I love that you were really, really trying to say something nice about the horseback riding outfit. As a character - Lila is meh for me. Kinda basic. I do like the jacket. I like the rainbow sparkle…but #gay. That horse is horrendous. So much of her collection is “fantasy” to me with the colors.
