Hey mate, I love how open minded you are to different cars, and if you make a mistake you totally own it! For this one, the pink LJ Torana is absolutely a factory colour- but the bonnet (hood?) was pink also. It was called “Strike Me Pink” and a true 70’s colour! I’d however say that a lot of the cars you featured were not common here either. The Maserati, Jensen and European brands were never sold here. They are just imports, for a minority of enthusiasts. But certainly not Australian. It’s funny to see how much time is given to cars worth $200 compared to cars worth a lot more, without knowing! The orange SS Torana would be worth half a million dollars. And it got 5 seconds lol. And the pink LJ Torana would be worth even more. But that’s the fun thing eh! Great job and love your videos as they are one of the very few that aren’t one of the millions of staged videos on youtube. Love your honesty as it’s what makes you stand out from the fake staged Millenials 👍

you are wrong. Jensen were sold here but not in significant numbers. I remember seeing the Jensen stand at the Melbourne Motor show. Taylorspeed in Adelaide were the importers in the late 60s. not so sure about Maserati but suspect you are right and those that came here were privately imported.

Dave Norman, back in the mid-seventies my dad was a mechanic at a Zupps dealership on the northside of Brisbane. He got to drive trade-ins home so he could give them a test run to see if anything was needing attention. He came home in Statesman Devilles, GTS Monaros, and other cars. But the one that sticks in my memory was a Pink XU1 Bathurst Special. Our neighbour from across the road would often look after his brother's cars. He had an L34 Torana, and a fully-bombed A9/X. It had tunnel rams and twin four-barrel double pumpers...I was a young teenager and always hassled him to take me for a blat around the streets.

AMC shipped their cars in knock down kits to Australia through the Aussie company AMI (Australian Motor Industries) and were branded as Rambler. You could buy an Aussie assembled Rambler Hornet, Rebel, Javelin, AMX and Matador. Some were even used as official government vehicles. One Pacer and one Gremlin right hand drive made it to Australia and still exists. All Aussie Ramblers had the AMI logo. AMI also imported Toyota's who had bought them out by1985

Walkinshaw Performance /HSV is pretty much the same thing. Headed by Ryan Walkinshaw. The badge was used for Supercars when they ran a side team to HRT, and kept going with the change of Walkinshaw business to enhancing other brands and re-engineering left hand drive Ram trucks and Camaro and now tricking up VW Amarok. The WP badge just had a different level to the HSV.

Ahh the legendary Mini Moke, They were a BMC car that Australians loved, the UK built 14,000 of them in the 60's but Australia built 26,000 of them and kept selling them into the 80, Portugal built 10,000 and sold them into the 90's, Great little beach cars. Super dangerous too.

Also all Ford day coming up in sa on October 30th to be held at oakbank race course. Should be able to find it on face back

The Ford Meteor is a Mazda 626. The Ford Sundowner and Holden Sandman were called "shaggin' wagons". Most had a transfer on the rear window saying "If this vehicle's rockin' don't bother knockin'" or Once a king always a king, once a knight is never enough" or "My girlfriend can't wrestle, but you should see her box".

Not the 626. A larger car Ford called the Telstar. Meteor was the Australian Laser version of the Mazda 323 but Meteor was used for the sedan non hatchback versions and station wagon versions of the Laser. Ford eventually called them all Lasers for their version of the 323.

My uncle was a real tight arse and bought a Moke for the family car back in the 70s. Family of five and it was a four seater. My cousin used to "borrow" it and go Gnome napping with his mates. Ended up with 400 garden gnomes and gave up when they tried to steal a 6 foot concrete Kangaroo from some ones front yard. The Gnomes ended up in the grounds arranged into conversation groups at his school on Muck up day. (Sydney High).
