Dann Carlton is a great hotel. Stayed there some years ago. Beautiful views. Beautiful Pool. Excellent food & they had very attractive prices on everything. Shocked me more than anything, the costs of it all.

I used to stay at that hotel. It is close to the Santa Fe Mall. Nice hotel with a rotating Tony Roma restaurant. Condolences to the family of the man who passed on. I still love Medellin.

I believe that’s a 5 star hotel. Very professional staff. Sad very sad that another vacationer passed. Vacations are supposed to be relaxing and fun. Let’s wait and see the cause and then I’ll say more.

If the answer is yes, then that would be a red flag to me. But as far as being naked in his room in warm tropical weather, who cares! It's somewhat irrelevant.

It only happen when you are buying prostitutes, Colombian doesn't have a hook up culture, to date a Colombia, you have to meet through friends, otherwise it's a red flag and it's a prostitute, follow that simple rule and those things don't happen to local, act like a local

@@Blueskullz503 Exactly went to Medellin in 2018 & 2019 and there was not this amount of bad news. I just returned from Santa Marta and enjoyed it. Off course i was with my girl but i like the more chill cities like that, Cali and Barranquillla too. Went to Cartagena once but not my speed. The fast life seems to come with a lot of danger.

I was born and raised in medellin, I am a Spanish teacher and I always tell foreigners to be careful with the drugs, I know many are drugged but there is also a problem with overdosing, many foreigners just go crazy with the prices and all the possibilities here.

What up Rob?? Man, and the Dann Carlton is a pretty good hotel with security measures and the like. Bottom line is that folks want what they want, plain and simple. We have no idea what happened as of yet so we can't say yet. I hopefully will be back in Medellin before November. I absolutely love that city..

Everyone is for sale in colombia waitress security front desk no one is above getting their palms greesed its just the way of life there. If you find a trustworthy chica or taxi keep them close

@@chicaliqc While it's corrupt and yes, some people can be bought, I have some solid paisas that I've been using for various things from transportation to Airbnbs and they've never failed me yet. You have to be careful, as you elude to, but also in order to get things done, you have to get to know folks there. It's a double edged sword....

And honestly if you meet a chica who works an honest job like va teacher or a beautiful maid or a dental assistant hell i had a solid relationship with a gorgeous girl that had a pizza stand in Medelin.. get a girl that has something to lose you most likely will have a safe enjoyable time in Colombia.

Me and my Colombian friend use to live in a apartment building across the street i love it we had a 3 bedrooms 2 baths 24 hours security two parking spots and at the time before the banks failed here and the colom peso was hit hard couple years ago i only paid 1k a month we would walked a couple of blocks to Sante Fe mall we use to go different restaurant coffee bars its was a great location i use to call Poblado the Buckhead of Atlanta without the ATL price.

I've been learning Spanish for 4 months and might need to switch to Portuguese.

It's the same in Brazil, I am in Brazil, it can be safe if you are not into prostitute, please learn Spanish or Portuguese for the right reason, when you move to the country, friend the locals, Colombians normally date through friends, they don't just give a guy a number on the street or dating app, those are red flag and signal prostitute, if you are planning to move to Colombia to meet the girl of your dream, you have to meet her through friends, if you can remember this, you will be ok, Colombians is not USA where you see a woman and talk to her and get the number, they think that's weird, any girl give you the number and it's not through a friend you met her, she a prostitute

HI Doesn't this hotel have CCTV. The Carlton must have videos of who went into this room. The front desk and someone must have seen who went into this room. So sad to this man who probably worked very hard his whole life and now he is gone. RIP

The hotel staff stated that no one went to his room. Which means they checked the security footage

Seems to me since this is a luxury 5 star hotel there are plenty of cameras to show who is coming and going to the hotel and possibly the room. There won't be a real investigation.

As he was 66 years old and had probably just traveled from the US carrying luggage, that could have been a difficult physical activity for him. If you add to that the stress from probably not speaking Spanish and the climate change then his brain and body could have been producing more cortisol and other stress hormones than his circulatory system was able to handle. Just saying..

Sad situation, i been to medellin over 7 times, i have lots od friends in Medellin, its a safe place, first these men coming for prostitute its a major problem, Colombians dont do hook up, dating a Colombian is not easy, you normally have to meet through friends, any woman you randomly can meet and get their number in medellin are normally prostitute, ifboll understand that , that will save lots of life hopefully, its sad what happened to him

The Dann Carlton is very good at keeping people out, however after years of staying there and having a woman who has been like a girlfriend to me, it’s very easy for her to get in without stopping at the front desk. I would tell her to hit me up when her Uber was arriving and soon as she did I took the elevator down and she would walk on. They don’t stop unaccompanied women because unless you have a key you can’t go up anyway. That elevator door would open up and we’re on our way up quick. Also another reason that hotels are better than Airbnb is that you get maid service and breakfast every day. You aren’t saving much unless you have 5 other Pookies with you.

Hotel rentals are down huh, It will continue go all the way down. Also, you dudes are acting everyone who got the poke for travel access, didn't schedule their own funeral. So anytime you here someone bite the dust without explanation, the first question you should ask is, "did they get the poke".

Thats the biggest cope I seen, it's really the young travelers messing things up. I even hear stories from the immigration line at airport arrivals now is 3hrs and full passport bros and single men , even heard someone say a group of passport bros from NY were in line and let a group of Detroit passport bros cut in line, this happened more than once and ppl were getting annoyed at them.
