I'm still mad about that! I was angry when it happened, because I thought it should have won.

Ukraine sends the best songs for Eurovision each year, to the point that they ALWAYS get a place in the grand finale for their own merits. They have NEVER been disqualified. And they usually get high positions in the grand finale and/or are one of the audience favorites.

Ukraine is still my winner 💚

How did this not win? The juries suck. They hype up conventional stuff, and ignore authentic gems like Shum. This came second in the public vote though, so people obviously LOVED IT. I recommend watching the televote results. Very intense. This and Italy were my favorites.

Juries over thought. Audience wanted energy and party and power after being stuck in isolation for over a year. Juries tried to be contemplating. I knew when the contestants were all anounced, and betting had ballads on high positions that they had it completely wrong. That wasn't the mood Europe was in.

@@Ruinwyn I don't think that's the case cause the juries ranked Malta pretty high (a bop), and at the same time the audience ranked France high (a ballad). The juries, which typically consist of a few pop singers and producers, are probably intimidated by performances more original than themselves, so they award songs that they would personally sing.

@@silvijab2016 Malta was a basic perfectly produced swedish bop. Very smooth, very polished, very managed. It got jury points because its technically perfect. It is also perfectly forgettable and perfectly replaceable.

Some judges put Ukraine in last place !!! Are they blind and deaf? In their opinion, is this the worst performance of all? That's bullshit. One sulia in the semifinals gave Ukraine the 2nd place, and the final 20. What happened? It was Moldova who dropped the microphone during the performance, Ukraine sang and made the performance perfect.

Italy, the winner, was super lit too and the band is great in general, so I'm ok with their win but Ukraine should've been 2nd at least, which they would've been had the juries not been comprised of people with no taste. But they came in 2nd in the public vote, which is what matters in the end. It was so good, a wonderful mix of Ukrainian/East European folkore and new sounds

'Shum' was amazing! It was pretty close with Italy, the eventual winners. Italy was a more conventional 'pretty boy' glam rock offering, pretty high energy. I'd have given it to Ukraine myself for the creativity, execution and artistic boldness

The rings remind you of Tron, because both Tron and this performance rely heavily on symbolism to display the sun. This song is basically a modern version of *traditional Slavic pagan songs* celebrating the beginning of the new year, singing to the god of the forrest called Shum. 🤗 The presentation is even better when you watch the official video.

This band is combine old traditional folk songs ( in this performance is pre Christian ritual performed during end of the winter calling for a spring arrival ( green coat- leaves on the trees). Song is performed in Ukrainian only, with no English parts. This was first time in Eurovision when only Ukrainian language song was performed ( with no Russian or English parts added/ mixed). Go_A is a unique band that combines traditional, folk music with techno and modern instruments. Yes, they are unique and singer ( lady) Katherina is singing in traditional White voice technique ( traditionally used in Eastern Europe). Not everyone like this stile of singing in Europe. Pre Eurovision many critics predicted Ukraine not to qualify for a final. But after first rehearsal Ukraine was in top 10. Go_A was a televote favorite in first semifinal and was second placed in televote in Eurovision 2021 final. Your reaction perfectly explain why people ( televote) give Shum and Go_A such a high marks.

The official eurovision channel has the official video recordings, however, it's restricted in the US. To bypass it though, you can use a European, Australian, Indian vpn. (basically nearly every country other than us and Canada)

Omg, you defo need to use a vpn or something and watch the live video and both oficcial videos. They are worth it! Fantastic song, should have placed 2nd (I adore the winner) or even win. Just watch the crowd go wild during the live and half that audience is their competitors (although they generally all support each other, no drama).

Italy was bananas too, that's why they won, but, many songs were awesome! Lot's of songs could have won. Best regards from Barcelona!

This didn't win cause Jury usually underscores slavic folk. Also Italy did so well.

My favourites were Italy, Ukraine and Iceland (in that order!).

That is why Ukraine is the ONLY ESC country with a 100% qualification record (from the semi finals). They send epic songs every year (my taste at least hehe) and every year there is something different. You should check some of their older songs. There was also Maruv - Siren song, the song that could pretty easy be top 5 if not win in 2019 if they didn't mess it up because of politics :(

Not because of politics, but because of the war. Let's call a spade a spade. For the eighth year Ukraine has been subjected to military aggression by Russia. People are constantly dying, 2 million people have become refugees, many are illegally held in conscamps, they are brutally tortured. Maruf herself preferred the Russian audience, rather than the European. I’m waiting for people to bully her there and to remember her Ukrainian passport again. It always happens to such people. But she's too dumb to understand.

Ukraine has never sought to take away other people's territories and lives. there is only one bloodthirsty aggressor. this is russia. so no, "in the end" there is no "them", there is only him. and everyone knows his name. it is the bloody dictator putin and his people, sick of imperial ambitions. over the past two days, we have lost two soldiers - a 22-year-old girl and a man whose name has not yet been named because it takes time to inform family. it's only 2 days. while you call war politics, his daughter's body is met by a single father. and she will never dance again.

Eurovision as a contest was created with the purpose to unite all countries after WW2. Just like every multinational competition (football, basketball, tennis,...).

I loooved Hoverphonic’s! They are like good wine. You just want to enjoy their sound. Ukrainian singer Katherina is a big follower of this band for many years and was very honored to see and meet them in person during Eurovision. ( from her live Instagram and some interviews)

Agreed. The jury once again was a complete and utter joke and italy was just amazing. Another problem for Ukrain was that the song is amazing through good speakers or headphones, but through TV speakers it is a bit disappointing and a lot of people just watch Eurovision on their TV without good external speakers.

Italy was totally great, but Judges didn't want to go to Ukraine next year, so that low marks from this.

When i first heard this on the offical precontest video i did not like it but on the night i sounded much better and has become one of my favorites. Love your eurovision reactions nd can't wait for you to react to some of the suggested older stuff that I and others have given links for on earlier reactions

This video doesn't show 3/4 of best moments and takes and has poor sound, with crowd being loader than the singer. it's like watching movie from side with 3/4 of a screen blocked by other people and with people talking most of the time. :)To get some idea about how fantastic this performance was, check the official video or even reaction. with actual video included ( for example FutureEvrovisionist reaction, which has good quality sound and video).

The "official music video" (that with the car from MAD MAX) is way better than the live performance (my opinion) - but the song is dope ♥.

Ukraine has so many amazing artists in and outside of Eurovision: Jamala, Go_A, Sergey Babkin, Ani Lorak, O Torvald, Freedom Jazz, Vivienne Mort, Pianoboy, Khristina Soloviy, Dzidzio, Potap & Nastya, Oleg Vinnik etc, I can put in this list the future stars and representatives of their country at Junior Eurovision: Anna Trincher JESC 2015, Sofia Tarasova JESC 2013, Victoria and Anastasia Petrik JESC 2008 & 2012, Darina Krasnovetska JESC 2018, Sofia Ivanko JESC 2019 and Alex Balabanov JESC 2020. All in all, Ukraine is amazing country with so many talented people.

I am Ukrainian and as much as I love this song I would not bet on it, because the jury have been doing this to us since 2016 after our win (low scores due to politics)
