American Experiencing Lebaran in Bandung Indonesia (Mudik 2021)

As an American I have never experienced Muslim Holidays. After arriving in Bandung Indonesia for Mudik 2021 I celebrated Lebaran (Eid Mubarak) for the very first time. As a foreigner I had no idea what traditions or customs I would experience. However, I must mention during these domestic restrictions in Indonesia many families cannot travel and celebrate with their families and friends. So I am thankful I was able to experience Lebaran with Kintania's family and show you what Eid Mubarak is like in Bandung Indonesia.

Bro love from Korea 🇰🇷 Indonesia has a special place in my heart and I've been there 5 times and got my first job in JKT! And yes I did participated in Ramadan wkwk it was Feb of 2013 (my very first visit) and coincidentally the day I landed in Indonesia was the first day of of Ramadan I was in Yogyakarta and stayed in my muslim friend's house so I decided why not fast with them because I didn't wanted to be the only one eating during day time while their whole family is fasting beside I would probably not going to get another opportunity like this so I did the whole month and end up lost 5KG lol (I had woke up at like before 5am to eat before sunrise and couldn't even drink a water and my buddies were like take a nap if you get too hungry lol) good experience though Miss Indonesia but vicariously through your videos I am back there haha Keep up the great work bro and much love I used to live in California as well haha 🇺🇸 and worked in Thailand 🇹🇭 after Indonesia 🇮🇩

Glad you enjoyed your first Eid. :) Just a little note, "Eid Mubarak" is Arabic for "Happy Eid" (like "Merry Christmas"). The actual holiday is called Eid Al-Fitr or Eid day. So, to use it in a sentence would be something like: On Eid Day, we went to our relatives' houses and we wished everyone "Eid Mubarak!" On the night before Eid, muslims are recommended to recite prayers of Allahu Akbar ("God is Great!) in repetition like the takbir that you heard from the mosques to celebrate our achievements of fasting, doing lots of good deeds in Ramadan.

Where are you from in the States? Welcome brother (BTW, I look like you with more weight and less hair . We celebrate both Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr in the same. We pray together with the Ummah and then we celebrate the day either at the Masjid, home or with friends over an amazing dinner. I will soon be in Malang, after I retire from my Government job, bringing my wife and 3 kids behind. Keep up the video blog of Indonesia. In Surabaya in our kampung everybody tries to visit everybody plus many would visit their family in other places. We met and mohon maaf lahir batin....with over 100 people in about 2hours. We visited 4 homes. The authorities didn't really restrict people from travelling by car or motorcycle although a few people were turned around to try to make others not want to go, but the fact is, lebaran is so very important to Muslims in Indonesia, very important at least to meet parents and family and to ask forgiveness for any offences whether known or not.
