One thing that might make you laugh (does for me anyway) is when the head essentially of the Household division the Major-General is for the whole of the London District as well. When inspecting (was in an episode of a series on channel 5, just recently) new recruits the band played the sort of theme tune for the Sith Lord in Star Wars 😆😆(being the Coldstream guards that was). I correct myself its called the Imperial March haha kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4GqxaWfo5vTlps.html They examine new recruits to see if they're up to the required standard for Sentry Duty (Guarding the Monarch) or sometimes called stag.

I watch this every year on tv, in honour of my late dad, we watched it every year as a family, brings back happy memories of my dad , a soldier in ww2,, i think this year it will be part of the Queens Celebrations,, look forward to watching it all.. a great honour ..

Trooping the colour is usually shown in full on BBC 1. I think it is known as BBC America over your side of the pond. It lasts for a good few hours, as The Queen and other working members of the royal family attend including (Prince Charles the prince of wales-the heir to the throne, Prince William (Duke of Cambridge) -charles' eldest son, Princess Anne -The Princess Royal(the Queens only daughter), Prince Edward (Earl of Wessex) Queens youngest son, plus all their spouses and their children. You should check out the celebrations that will take place begining of June, it is the platinum jubilee celebrating Queens 70 years on the throne. Everyone in the UK is getting two extra days off (the Thursday and Friday, with pay as bank holidays, a 4 day weekend) to celebrate the special events that are taking place throughout the UK and also to watch the jubilee celebrations that Buckingham palace is putting on, along with trooping the colour as usual. Tom cruise is actually presenting one of the events taking place London along with many many more famous people, including actors, singers, sports stars, and other celebrities etc. It's well worth watching. Will all be shown on BBC as it's the UK's national broadcasting corporation. Thousands are expected to be in attendance in London to watch the celebrations at Buckingham palace over the 4 days (Thursday to Sunday). It will probably be Her Majesty's last jubilee (as she is 96yrs old) so well worth watching, as you will see just how patriotic the UK is about The Queen band how much we all love her. Enjoy watching it.

Those Brits are some of the finest soldiers I’ve ever worked alongside, very strange sense of humour but they sure know what their doing from a former US Marine, who owes his life to British surgeons at bastion 👍

The household brigade combat story is unparallel. Just to give you an idea: the Falkland war was a success for a tiny British force facing the whole Argentinian Army and the battle of _Goose Green_ [edit: Goose Green was taken by the Paras, while the Girdas took care of ]Tumbledown Mt. was almost entirely fought by the Guardsmen.

If we British do anything best, it's pomp and circumstance. We are the best at military parades and traditions which usually date back hundreds of years. I'm so proud to be British and I'm proud that you and fellow American brothers and sisters are still so connected with us. 🇬🇧🇺🇲❤️

My brother in law was in the Coldstream Guards, he took part in the Trooping of the Colour back in the 1980's. He says its one of his proudest moments.

my father was in the coldstream guards in 1938, trooping the colour was cancelled during the war but he did guard Buckingham palace and the queen often came and talked to the sentries.

I'm proud to say I did 4 of these in my time in the Coldstream Guards and I'm very pleased you appreciated the work all the lads put into it. One year it was so hot and I sweated so much the dye in my tunic made my white shirt you wear underneath the tunic go pink! It's an amazing experience to have had and I still watch it today. Proud to have served with the US in Gulf War 1.

We've never lost one fighting along side each other, alright we take the piss ,but its only banter, But if anyone threatens either Country ,or Canada ,Australia and New Zealand, we will be along side in an instant.

My brother was a sergeant in the Coldstream Guards. The one and only time he did trooping the colour, he fainted 😆. He was in the national newspaper and everything! Mind you, it was a baking hot day, and those uniforms are no joke. We Brits do pomp and ceremony very well, I love it.

Thank you for saying thank you to all those serving and the veterans, I am a former nurse and a veteran of Princess Mary’s Royal Airforce Nursing Service, I used to watch Trooping the Colour every year when I wasn’t working my dad was Territorial Army. Nobody does pomp and circumstance like the British 😁 I love that you love my home countries (half English and half Scottish) loving your videos …..

We are all one. The UK would fight for America and America would fight for UK.

You will never see a more drilled and in sync military parade anywhere else.. the sheer amount of prep and rehearsal that goes into this is incredible.. every inch of every soldiers uniform is polished 1000000 times (not literally) if there is the tiniest spec of dust anywhere. They get chewed up.. everything has to be pristine condition.. the queens gonna be watching after all lol.. love the respect you guys showed... 2 hands 1 body.. bothers across the ocean.. 🇬🇧🇺🇲

I do watch it every year. When she was young enough Queen Elizabeth would be in uniform on horseback and stayed in position with her horse during the entire ceremony. It was impressive. I'm so glad you were able to show it with Welshman, Hugh Edwards commentating. I always enjoy his commentary 🙂

Remember, ladies, Queen Elizabeth is an excellent horsewoman and very knowledgeable about all the manoeuvres. It's said she watches everything and is not slow in telling the Commanding Officers if she sees something she doesn't think is up to standard.

It is well known that if a mistake is made the military top brass may not notice it but the Queen will.

For me the most emotional military spectacle is the march by of soldiers and veterans past the cenotaph on remembrance Sunday the 11th of November. If you can get through that without shedding a tear, watching all the old soldiers with their medals on display then you must have a heart of stone !!! Feeling the love from our colonial cousins, the feeling is most mutual !! x x

Everyone at about 3.35 in the video, listen carefully. Natasha definitely says "Active" and not Actors. If you've been watching The Natasha and Debbie Show videos then you'll know that they would NEVER (and I mean NEVER) disrespect either the UK or our military. They are always super respectful, this is what makes them so much better than other reactors. ❤

If there's one thing we do well over here, it's tradition. Glad to see our cousins across the pond get chills from seeing this too! Stronger together!

If you watch past trooping of the colour you will see the Queen on horse back. When I took the kids to see it many years ago I was holding my youngest son who was three at the time, as the Queen rode down the Mall in her red uniform she turned to look at us which was very special.

I watch the trooping every year, and I want to say THANK YOU to both of you. As an American and anglophile since I was 10 (i'm 60 now) I've been in love with England and the Empire and all things British for decades. Most of these American Reacts videos end up showing the Americans a very unknowledgable in concerns towards history and historical things. I want to say THANK YOU again for you both being so well informed and smart and just awesome folks. BTW I am a retired history teacher.

You need to watch a video about The red Arrows. They are a part of the Royal Air Force and are an air acrobatic team. I believe they will be performing at the Queen’s jubilee in June. I presume as it is a massive occasion it will be televised in most countries. There will be concerts and all sorts of types of entertainment.

Lovely to see your reaction. Us Brits tend to take out traditions for granted. Shame it wasn’t an edited version of the whole ceremony, the Royal family leaving Buckingham Palace to travel up the mall to Horse Guards Parade to view and inspect the troooing and then back again to view the flyover from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

I served In Afghanistan as a british tank regiment soldier and I was blessed to have worked with the US forces .. we seem so different in many ways but we will 100% give our lives for each other.. we had some sad times and good times legends..

We can feel your pride I just wish all British people would . My father was in The Royal Air Force. The pride is always there ❤

Thank you for another great post! In response to your question, yes, Trooping the Colour is televised live on a Saturday morning. Edited highlights are shown Saturday evening and repeated on Sunday. I usually watch it because it's an amazing, precision spectacle. I also always watch the Remembrance Day Ceremony which is something you may wish to consider watching. It takes place on the 11th of November or the closest Sunday and involves all branches of the British Armed Forces and Veterans, Ex Service Personnel and their families as well as massed bands of course.

Natasha & Debbie you said it beautifully, very proud as you know my dad was in the USA army and airforce but served mostly in the UK, I did tear up too, love the T shirt it fits perfectly

It is the romance of the history that is on display, the passion of every person serving in the British military. We volunteer to serve and it is a life choice.

I’m so proud to be British when I see this and knowing our boys will always have the U.S. by their side in battle made the part what you said about two hands together very heart pulling. I watched you get choked which set me off. Two nations 🇬🇧🇺🇸 = 1 ❤️

The best thing about this beautiful tradition is that it's an annual reminder to the government that they have no control over the armed forces. Every soldier there has made a personal oath of allegiance to the Queen and serves her alone.

Interesting, what happened in the Civil War when the Commonwealth of Cromwell was in power with respect to any raised army ? ( I suppose I am thinking of the use of the Army in Ireland by Cromwell - not that HM Forces were much better from time to time ). I think I would prefer it to be an oath to the people of GB/UK (though one could argue the Monarch is a personification of same), Ministers of Parliament also have to take an oath before they take their place on the benches at Westminster.

You need to watch our Royal Air Forces ‘Red Arrows’ display team. They visited the US & had a great reception from the people. There are numerous videos showing their precision flying. We are very proud of them. Best wishes ladies 👍

Every gold ribbon on the colours (the flag) represents a battle honour. It's a lot of battles over a lot of years.

I am male, but a small one (5 foot 8 inches) but structurally slim; biceps as thin as my arms. However, I have worked in timberyards and physical labour and have a good grip. Salespeople etc have tried to crush my hands in a hand shake which has never bothered me, as I can squeeze back to match them. The biggest, natural and hardest handshake was from two sergeants in the Welsh division (I have never been in the army, I was just there to teach them maths in a week). All eight shook my hand when they passed the UK maths test. All of them shook my hand, but two of them nearly made my legs buckle. They were not even trying to prove anything it was just an incredible force. Those men were naturally strong, and I am glad I wouldn't have to fight them without a gun in my hand. Unbelievable strength.

As someone who served in the British Army from '93 to '98, which was a life-defining experience, this to me is a very special video. For me, you focus on the most important things: service and duty. Those values together are the ties that bind the US and UK armed forces, and, as far as I'm concerned, always will. Thank-you for this!

The Queen used to ride her favourite horse for the Trooping of the Colours. Her name was Burmese and two of my great uncles, Reddy and Graham Parsonage, bred her for the RCMP at Fort Walsh in southwestern Saskatchewan in 1962. The RCMP gave Burmese to the Queen and she quickly became her favourite horse. She rode her at 18 consecutive Trooping of the Colours. When Burmese died in 1991 at the age of 29 the Queen had her buried at Windsor Castle, a rare honour. 🍁

She was also riding Burmese when a nutty teenager named Malcolm Sergeant tried to assassinate her with a pistol full of blanks at the 1981 Trooping of the Colours. And if you go here there is a video of the Queen riding Burmese with President Ronald Reagan aboard Centenial, another horse my great uncles bred for the RCMP and whom they gave the Queen for the centennial of the NWMP/RCMP in 1973. The Queen gave Centenial to Prince Charles and he was lent to President Reagan so they could do a riding tour of Windsor Castle together in 1982. When I was younger I sometimes would watch this and as I grew to my twenties, thirties and forties, I became jaded and lost interest. Now I am middle age and I live in the US I must say that your enthusiasm and view point of this parade, is very contagious. I’m married to an ex Scot Guard. He served in the Falklands war and was one of the 41 injured and was medically discharged 5 years later. He wore this uniform when we got married and 4 days before our first son was born I took his picture when he took part in the troop in 1983. X

I often travel in South East Asia and play a game with myself. Seeing how long I can go before seeing the Union Flag logo on a T-Shirt, handbag, trainers or some fashion item. I guarantee within 20 minutes I’ll see the logo on something. It seems to be everywhere in that part of the world. It must be one of the worlds most reproduced piece of graphics…

Hi Ladies, Really enjoyed your reactions to The Troop. I was an Australian in the British Army in this Regiment, Scots Guards. Good to learn more about Americans and individual Americans to counter my stereotypical thinking! I like you guys.

How charmingly complimentary you are! I was impressed and very moved by your generous enthusiasm.

It's the same discipline, precision and teamwork that they take into battle with them.

I watch it every year and I'm very happy that this year it will be back here at Horseguards Parade, instead of Windsor Castle, where because of lack of space there was a smallet contingent of soldiers. I love it, and speaking as a very proud English woman I thank you for your lovely comments, our friends across the pond.

I had the honour of meeting some American marines in our FOB along side some danish too and I have to say those Americans I met were some of the most amazing individuals I had met I remember sharing a cigar with a marine on Christmas Day after we finished our Sanger duty

Its funny, I was in a royal guard for Princess Anne in New Zealand early 80's....the pride it instills in you is beyond belief. She is the Patron/Commander of RNZSignals. We stood in threes after and had tea and biscuits and she met and acknowledged every group. I have been a Royalist ever since. Nothing instills more pride in you than a full military pagentry parade !!!

There’s a reason many model the selves off the British not only through ceremony but also training. This video was very refreshing and i love it thank you. Much love from the Uk. I always enjoy watching the trooping of the colour. Their drill is on another level, even though we and other serving still get to a standard for our own ceremonies.

You can tell the different regiments buy how the buttons are grouped in pairs or threes or single etc

Great show, watch trouping of the colour every year, both my father and my son were in the army, my son was in Kandahar, Afghanistan with the American soldiers and has made some true and lasting friends from America, as you say we are the left and right hands of one body. So happy you liked your gift box. Look forward to Wednesday as always xxx

Lovely reaction! And I love the Union Jack T-Shirt, really suits you!!! Not seen this video in a while and forgotten it had been broken down into parts... which means you can watch the whole thing from the beginning in bite-sized lumps! No spoiler but; after the "foot" Guards march past the queen, first at a slow march, they then do it again in quick time. After that the Household cavalry come on and parade their colour. You'll be amazed at the horsemanship of the mounted bands, all in their gold uniforms! I'm sure you'll love the drum horses too... gonna stop now or I'll spoil it for you. Great reaction once again! Am 77 year old and have watch nearly every year this parade. Only times I have missed this was when I was serving abroad. The parade continues with a quick and slow march for . Tis is shown in part 2 I believe. the Queen

I saw it as a small boy in '54 and was invited with my well known partner to a vantage point in '72 (I think) It is more tear tear jerking on a screen than being there when you don't get the same vista of perspective. Magnificent all the same and if you want something really spine chilling find yourself in the position of being presented to your Monarch as a complete nobody! One little person out of more than 70 million!!! That is really something!

The beauty of the getting together of troops is that it's not a military show of strength (like Russia does for example) - more a tradional ceremonial occasion. They are ALL serving troops. I watch it every year on the television.

Great reaction video again Ladies. I was serving on a small-ish US base in Kabul as part of a contingent of about 50 British troops, mentoring the Afghan National Army. There was representation from all the other coalition members there so a great place to be based. Every week or two, the US Commander there let the British Senior Non Commissioned Officer run a parade to honour the latest fallen service personnel. We would lower and raise each coalition flag as part of each parade. Such a great honour and came away from that tour with some great friends in the US Army and US Marines. Great allies and proud to have served with you guys. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧

i served in the welsh guards back in the 70s . the troops where so hard , but so rewarding . i am still so proud to have served in the regiment . CYMRU AM BYTH .

My great grandfather was in the Grenadier Guards and my grandfather fought in WII, im so proud of them. I never miss Trooping the Colour, so much history. I love the relationship our two countries have, brothers in arms, in 1982, you were the first to offer help if we needed it, thank you ❤

Nice video peeps, here's a suggestion, do a search for the royal tournament. It doesn't happen anymore but it's an incredible spectacle, particularly the running the gun carriages competition between the naval stations of Portsmouth and Devonport

Loved your passion and commentary, it is just so touching. I have great pride watching Trooping the Colour, it’s something we have grown up with and part of our culture. I loved your comments about us being from the same body - you’re so right!! I am Scottish and my Mum was born and brought up in New York and almost all my family are in America so I feel such loyalty to both countries as they are both mine ♥️🇬🇧🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Always nice to see the Trooping! You really should take a look at The Rifles Sounding the Retreat 2016 in the same place (Horseguards) and them doing their "double". The Musical Ride of the Royal Horse Artillery also make a memorable spectacle! Ex soldier really enjoying the military stuff. Ta.

My brother in law was in the Colestream Guards and took part in this ceremony in the 1970s, he was also a Buckingham Palace Guard. His father was so proud of him, especially of the photo of his son on an LP record cover during the trooping of the colour.

I always watching but then again I am very, very. very English.

There’s a video online that always gives me chills and makes me choke up - the Guard at Buckingham Palace playing the Star Spangled Banner on the morning after 9/11. So emotional X

Don't ever try to fathom out the "Spin Wheel" that the band does. It is a closely guarded military secret.
