American Couple Reacts: Queen Elizabeth's Funeral. God Bless the Queen, God Save the King
What can we say here... This was a very sad day yet an amazing service. Queen Elizabeth was so many things to so many people and to know that she is no longer in this World is beyond heartbreaking. She was a beautiful soul and an incredible leader. It's so hard to say goodbye, so we say, see you later...
We only watched some of the service here and will be watching a lot more in our own time. We will continue to offer our condolences and love to the people of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth.
God bless the Queen and God Save the King.

As a Royal Navy Veteran, I can tell you that the gun carriage carrying the coffin weighs two and a half tons. The coffin itself is lead-lined and weighs 500 pounds. The Royal Navy Sailors(Male and Female - first time ever for Females) at the front obviously haul the carriage. The Sailors at the rear act as the brakes, preventing it from gathering speed and also stopping it. They make it look effortless. Discipline and Pride. Those boys and girls did this country, and Her Majesty, proud yesterday.

Too often people across the world like to voice and highlight the differences in their own countries, their cultures and their way of life. Too often these differences are used as a way to criticise and to belittle others and state how their country/culture/way of life is the right way, the best way and anything else is inferior. However, at moments like this we all realise that fundamentally we are all the same. We all have hopes and dreams, we all have sadness and grief, we all want what is best for ourselves, our families and our countries. The Queen was a uniting force for many across the world, she acquired the reign of the British empire upon the death of her beloved father. The Queen became the figurehead of an empire that had been formed by some of the worst atrocities the world had, at that time, seen and bore. She, being of good standing and of heart, welcomed the world and those nations that wanted to have their own independence returned to their people. She did not want to be a figure renowned for war or genocide. She often apologised for the actions of her family and ancestors. She embraced individuals, their cultures, their lives and their beliefs. She didn't always get it right but no one does. No one is perfect. It's not often a death of a head of state gets the outpouring of grief, the condolences and the acknowledgments of her accomplishments from all across and around the world as she has. Messages of support and acknowledgement from those whom would usually be considered "an enemy of the state". Queen Elizabeth II was one of a kind and the world is a poorer place because she is no longer here.

A year later and I still sob... she was a magnificent woman worked during WW2 and was always dignified, the loss of her father meant she would never abdicate the Crown. Queen Elizabeth II was the best of this nation and held us all together.
How kind of you Americans to identify so strongly with those of us who dearly loved our Queen. I am a proud citizen of two of the furthest flung Commonwealth nations.
This was a touching edit, however they cut out the biggest ever funeral military parade which is breathtaking and glorious, and the most heartbreaking aspect of all, that the streets and parks were jammed ten, twenty deep, through Westminster and then for 27 miles to Windsor, with those who loved their Queen and knew that she loved them. Elizabeth II did not rule, she SERVED her people, did her duty and did not let us down in the longest reign in British history.

I visited Westminster Abbey for the first time last year and it was truly awe-inspiring humbling for me to walk where so much history had happened - not just in the past 12 months but the past 1000 years. And, most sacred and venerated above all, The Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.

It doesn't matter what your views of the monarchy are, what I think that is first and foremost that should be acknowledged is the devotion of her majesty the Queen, for seven decades a devoted mother of the nation and the commonwealth, selfless, dignified and true to both her faith, and her promise she made so long ago, that she never forgot, but stuck to it with a passion and love I don't think will be seen again anytime soon. As a proud Brit I’ve only known Queen Elizabeth ll my whole life. I’ve cried for two weeks solid and cried again watching this. But I’d like to say thank you for your respect and reverence you have shown. The family went to Windsor Castle where they would have received guests and later at seven in the evening the Queen will be laid to rest alongside Prince Phillip and her parents and sister. RIP Elizabeth the Great.
British army veteran here not afraid to say he shed more than a few tears during the whole day, i found it overwhelming and i know many of my former comrades did also, We have lost our Queen who was our commander in chief or as she was known to us 'the Boss' God Save the Queen.

When you get a chance to watch the whole funeral it will blow you away. There were representatives from the military forces of every member of the Commonwealth. Just think all the training the men and women had was from the 9 to the 18th well down
I have friends in Oregon that just moved to Seattle and they were heartbroken too. Similar here,I'm from the UK, Wales and I had so much respect for her majesty the queen. Such an amazing lady and the only monarch ever to serve their country for 70 years. She was absolutely amazing. I felt so bad for the family not able to show their emotions,it must be so hard for them all. I cried last year watching the queen at prince Philip's funeral and this just floored me,she was such an amazing queen and lady. Rest in peace you're majesty my queen 💔 proud to call her my queen
Broke my heart when I watched that live. We really miss our Queen she was the best Queen this country has had at least that’s my feeling. 70 years service to us and the commonwealth a life time of service. Thank your majesty. Part of me feels she should be called Elizabeth the Great.
I'm American but of Scottish descent, I woke up at 5:30am to watch the whole thing live. It feels like I've lost a grandmother, she was a such constant and reassuring presence throughout my life. I burst into tears when I saw the headlines and sat for hours watching the news coverage. The whole ordeal on Monday was one of the most profound and moving things I've ever witnessed in my life. We shall never see another platinum jubilee and we shall never see another monarch that can compare to Elizabeth II. In fact it is unlikely that we will ever see another Queen of England* (Great Britain & Northern Ireland) in our lives. This was truly the end of an era in so many ways. May she rest in peace.

Thank you Thamer, but Her Majesty was the Queen of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, not England. We Scots referred to her as Elizabeth Queen of Scots because Elizabeth the 1st predated the union of crowns of Scotland & England which occurred in1603. The Queen passed away in Scotland, a land she loved, a people she loved & we reciprocated that love in the way Scots do, low key, but loyal.

Your commentary and your sympathy and empathy really touched me. Thank you. It's hard to explain what this all meant. I'm 65. The queen was the only monarch I'd ever known. She was queen when I was born in 1957. Losing her presence was disorientating. I have always been proud of her. Although it may seem odd to some people I actually really like the fact that our head of state is completely outside the world of politics and is purely symbolic. Even some countries with a history of very liberal governments like Norway, Sweden, Denmark and The Netherlands have a monarch as a symbolic head of state. And I believe our Queen represented the very best of them.
The piper at the end of the service was playing a traditional Scottish lament called “ Sleep my dearie sleep” a beautiful and touching tribute to a life given in duty.
