I have limited locks to practice with (2 Acrylic practice locks, Master #3, Master 141D, American 1100) and I haven't been able to beat the American 1100 yet. Compared to the master locks, I can barely feel the feedback in there to tell what's going on. Was nice to see a cutaway to see the security pins in action.

I thought this was a great tutorial , because you showed where it was binding & were the fault sets were , other videos show them picking Am 1100 series & they kind run thru it , because they memorize the picking order & kinda showing off ; but this was a honest video, & really educational ; thanks moe

For anybody attempting to create their own cutaway lock in the future…. I had been attempting to pick the American 1100 for a couple weeks without any success. I then came across the videos showcasing how to create your own cutaway cylinder, I was ecstatic! Then I came across the posts and videos detailing how cutaways actually can ruin the pickability of locks. I was bummed out to say the least but not completely discouraged. I though maybe if I could make the cutaway slots thin enough, the spools would have enough material to bind against. I was right!! While the lock in this video looks amazing to show how a lock operates, the cutaway slots in the cylinder and bible are gigantic. I used my drill press, a 2mm milling bit, x/y vice, and a ton of patience (I know I know drill press is not a mill, I hear you!) and was able to cut very thin slots in my cylinder to where it’s enough for me to look and check where I’m at and what position I’m in and the lock still operates completely fine! It was a total game changer for me. It helped me understand how security pins operate and what oversetting vs proper setting feels like.

Definitely can be a pain in the butt lock to Pick I got the red 1106 in the cutaway, and the non-cutaway cut away three times the first day got delivered and sat down with it for long periods of time and not be able to get it for a while but right now I’m struggling with the ABUS 55/40

3:12 didn't know serrations giving slight counter-rotation was something that could be used like that!

Typically I only feel them right before I get a click out of them. It's very, very faint and requires alot of practice.

Same here, I've never heard that before in all the videos I've watched. When I heard that, a light bulb went on as I've been wondering what was going on with that tiny bit of counter rotation. Thank you, that one tid bit of information along with all the time I've spent on this lock was a revelation about this lock and serrated pins! Wow

Is this a special 1100 series that comes with 6 pins
