America, The Republic

Why the Founders chose to design America as a republic, not a democracy and the compelling reasons why a republic must be maintained if individual liberty is to be preserved.

Well, democracy has nothing to do with whether the country is a republic or not those are two different things. The U.S. is generally considered a democracy, the fact that it is a republic in no way removes democracy. A country can be a republic and a totalitarian dictatorship, a country can also be a kingdom and a democracy. Democracy simply denotes freedoms, such as free speech, freedom of movement, the right to vote and openness. This video is basically a propaganda piece pushed by special interest - largely corporate - that wants to justify people not having as many rights or any at all. So watch out for the people calling themselves ”libertarian” because the people funding them tell a very different story when it comes to ”freedom”. When people start to say that we don’t live in a democracy and then talks about how the country was founded as a republic to justify anti-democratic measures, you better quadruple check their facts because something wacky is going on. The U.S. is a democracy, it's certainly not a perfect democracy and it is being threatened by corrupt politicians that serves special interest rather than the people voting for them, so it could be improved, but to say it's not a democracy is just a straight up lie pushed by people who would benefit from it not being a democracy.

Finally, the proper political spectrum! This needs to be taught in schools. Though conventional writing from left to right would have an absence of government on the left and total on the right I understand the need to align with conventional norms in today's political spectrum to make the understanding easier.

Anarchy is a political philosophy or system that advocates for the abolition of government, centralized authority, and hierarchical organization of society. Anarchist believe that individuals should be free to government themselves and make decisions collectively without the need for a ruling class or state apparatus. Anarchy emphasizes the importance of individual freedom, direct democracy and voluntary association, as opposed to the use of force or coercion. It is important to note that Anarchy is not synonymous with chaos or lawlessness, as anarchist often propose alternative forms of social organization and dispute resolution.

  • @UtubeMyAccountName

You use the word anarchy, however what you are describing is self-governance, and that is not anarchy. You ever hear of the Antifederalist Papers? They were written by the Founding Fathers who opposed the ratification of the Constitution. While they were unsuccessful in preventing the ratification, they are responsible for the Bill of Rights. Their arguments were somewhat similar to yours, except for the understanding that a society MUST have rules in order to even be a society. Therefore someone/some mechanism MUST be empowered to enforce those rules. Otherwise it is just chaos. Also freedom only truly exists outside of a society (no rules), within a society (rules) individuals have liberty.

@@adamdrouin2295 The only thing I will say is that more people have died under authoritarianism, than under freedom. Thus, the burden is on you to prove that under anarchy there would be more death, or more problems than what we have today under the monopoly of coercion known as the State. Good luck.

@@MoreOnPleeez I'm not an anarchist myself, but I hope that people are smart enough to be aware that all critique they may have against anarchy are all the same ones that apply against a government. The only difference is that government is immoral by default, because it has a monopoly on force, and it gives the illusion that its actions are "legitimate" just because it is the government, irrelevant if they are moral or not. Many would say we have oligarchies today. Okay, so the worst case scenario with anarchy is that we just return to where we started.

Also, Government - from the Latin Gubernare & Mente - (to) Govern & (the) Mind - Gubernaremente - to govern the mind. Or said another way Mentegubernare -mind control. Some argue that ment, is not from the Latin but rather the Enlish suffix that makes a verb a noun, as in Govern, a verb to government, a thing. This however makes little sense, as the word Govern is a translation from the Latin, why would you stick an English suffix on a Latin word?

The issue with that is that if law doesn't protect the rights of the individual, the majority will vote more and more of his rights away from him. Social Democracies do this, where A and B vote for C to be awarded money D, with D having his property and earnings stolen from him. Since he will be a perpetual minority, he could never hope to out vote those who see him as a cash register.

Like a democracy with a Bill or Rights? The people can vote directly, but they can't vote something that is in conflict with the Constitution? The problem always comes down to lack of education and understanding when it comes to the subject being voted on, and the ability to vote yourself other people's money. The founders emphasized states rights because only local level fully understood their distinct needs and wants compared to other areas with different needs and wants. The federal government laws, programs, or decisions, are based on "one size fits all", and that is why they end up being not all that great, and the founders understood that, which is why the 10th Amendment was crucial to ratifying support to make a central government back then.

Completely incorrect when it comes to Anarchy. As the speaker said, Anarchy means without government. IT DOES NOT MEAN WITHOUT LAWS. Anarchists follow Natural Law, not laws created by people. The Constitution enables slavery by “allowing” taxation. Taxation is slavery.
