they used modified springfield rifles for launching nades but thompsons switched for grease gun on late war period on most tanks

Most tanks during the war had small arms and grenades inside.

For context, this tank was developed at the same time as the M3. So, cut it some slack. It might not be a Heavy Tank when compared to other tanks at it's BR, but for the time when it was built - it was indeed a heavy tank. Also, Day IDK of asking the Spookyboi to play the Sherman Firefly. Either the British or Italian one, whichever is easier for You.

Yet most don't talk about how ridiculous German players can be when fighting against. And how US and Russian players can be equally as brain dead as any German player. This happens with a lot of vehicles in games. They get ridiculed in game for being not very good vehicles. Up side in a lot of cases they talk about the pixel tank and it's in game performance, and don't base assumptions about the IRL vehicle off pixels lol. Always more interesting when people have looked in to when things were actually built & what vehicles/ammunition/infantry/numbers/conditions they would be up against IRL. Also stuff like mechanical reliability, were they done in by poor logistics, etc.. can be quite fascinating. The arbitrary BR system in game that has vehicles and ammunition types that were in some cases decades apart from different wars facing off can be quite harsh to some vehicles that were actually really good for their time.

It was an overweight tank

I like that not even 20 seconds in the HSTV-L makes a cameo. You can't get away from it even in videos on completely different tanks.

Thanks to the 900+ HP engine, this thing is surprisingly nimble. In WoT it was amazing for ramming enemies since it was both quite fast and very heavy compared to the enemies in its tier.

@@Bonk997 i have bth wt and wot, just stick to wt. it's a lot more fun, the teammates aren't toxic baboons and the aiming is not done via rng. edit: oh, andthe wait times are shorter! through, if i hav my pick, armored warfare would be the best choice. sadly, it has a severe case of "randomly crashing for no god damn reason".

6:10 the SAP is really useful against annoying open tops that keep tanking 76 shots, especially if there's multiple enemies to shoot at, some with actual armour that you need the 76 for. I use the SAP all the time in the M6A1 against things like SPAA, nashorns, etc.

Yes, just clipping the edge of an open top with SAP can kill the crew sometimes

If aiming at the turret of those models of tanks if you have aphe and can’t get a hull shot, go for the cupola cause it’ll either kill the entire turret crew and destroy the tank or at the very least get the commander and gunner

@@snaketanker It shouldn't be an event with the state of US lineups in this range. Its timing is too perfect as existing at the time the Tiger H1 was new. All the 90mm shit is either paper thin plane bait or moved up to the moon. Meanwhile the five Tiger 1's at 5.3 and 5.7 to go with the four Panthers and clown TD's while you have "Ooops, it's all Sherman" cue bullshit circus.

I'd personally love to see you play the (good) Type 60 SPRG tank in Japan (The twin-barrel recoilless rifle). It's an absolute gremlin at its tier and I think you'd enjoy it with the primary and secondary guns bound to different keys.

I started taking only the SAPHEI for the 37mm because having the ability to overpressure open tops on demand is an underrated ability, also the pen isn't bad on it!

6:05 the SAP for the 37 is really nice at super low tier, it can pen most things at that tier if you aim correctly and one shots most of the time. On that note, I'd love to see you use only the 37's SAP at low tier, I think it'd be a fun challenge.

I love the 37mm on the M6 as it lets me deal with annoying trees that obstruct my vision without wasting ammo from my main gun.

Im impressed Spooks didnt use the SAPHE shells he was carrying. Its the same one the Stuarts have and that thing obliterates anything it goes through. Of course it works almost exclusively with low armored vehicle.

I've been getting back into snail hell recently, and really appreciate how in depth you get with the vehicles you play, and fight. It's allowed me to get far better at aiming, thanks Spookston!

We really need a compilation of all of your jump scares, they’re too good.

Personally, I prefer the cut shoulders of the Porsche tigers and the M6. It let's less of the tank be visible around cover and it's fun to bait people to aim for them, then hit one of the brakes to flip the tank to force them to bounce. That and I like the way they look, personally

I love the M6A1 and was absolutely thrilled when they added a better version of it. I often bring out my 5.7 lineup with my m18, m6a1, now T1E1, sherman 76 models and the m36. I also gotta have the p51d5 and the p63a10

The problem of anything 4.7 and above is that you are goind to be facing tigers and panther every time, so this being 5.0 instead of the tiger's 5.3 or 5.7 doesn't change the fact no german players needs to aim to kill you. The fact that it is huge doesn't help, at least this one has a reverse gear.

I just unlocked this tank and its sibling, and you hit the nail on the head. It needs to be 4.0-4.3 rather than 5.0-5.3 because Tigers and Panthers just kill this thing. It has an OK gun, slow speed, and it's a massive target. In a balanced video game, that would give it good armor. However, War Thunder is no such thing.

So ive played the M6 a lot in arcade mode (as in, its my favourite tank and I've ace crewed it for free) and just recently got the T1. All i can say is, being a bomb magnet tends to work in your favour, at least in AB. Between the 76, the 37, and the assortment of 50 cals, the M6 (and i presume the T1) is quite a capable SPAA platform if you focus on it.

The tech tree EBR and ARL-44 make for a pretty neat combo - maybe we could see those in a future video?

I'd have to get on and look at the other nations though. If they were smart they'd turn the possible uptier from one full br to .7 up or down, that would fix a lot

@dylanjames367 Britain might be able to briefly disable it by shooting the tracks and barrel, but anything with a 6 pounder will struggle to kill it, since they can't just shoot weak spots and get bailed out by HE filler the way most other nations can. The m6 has decent survivability, okay armour, and really good firepower for the BR, while being decently mobile and having both a fast reload and a vertical stabiliser. It can be incredibly potent in the right hands, it just doesn't bail you out the way a tiger or IS-1 can.

@edwardking9359 Considering that you can still pen it and fight it, just like tanks can still fight the b1 ter at 2.7 as well as the m4a3 which is now 3.0, and with the t1e1 out now that is definitely better, it makes no sense to keep the m6 at 5.0

I find it funny how both Germany and the USA developed heavy tanks with an unused prototype that had a petrol-electric drive.

The hull MG mount being immobile is a bug, it's supposed to have horizontal traverse, also the 37mm SAP is good for donking on paper vehicles that don't fuse the 76

Please make a video about the M47 Patton, the vehicle is very under looked by many content creators, and it's very good for being so underestimated.

Grinding to get this, the M6A1 is my favorite tank in WT, so I'm happy to get another one!

For fighting a kv1 you can shoot the flat part of the frontal turret armor this will kill the gunner i think. I have done this alot and it pretty much works. Sometimes it just kills the tank. I tried this while using a m4a1 with aphe.

That panic'd jump at 2:16 when you got side shot had me rolling.

You should a video on the OF-40, any variation, they are stupidly survivable and come with stock APDS rounds, the 7.7 variant has a researchable laser rangefinder AND gets a rangefinder so large it absorbs every last piece of spawl you will ever get.

My ammo loadouts for this and the M6 is APBCE for the 76 for buffer targets and SAP for the 37 for softer targets, might thought this can help you

That tank is so much empty space that unless you know where the ammo racks are located all you’re going to be hitting is dead air.

You should try the strv m42 dt with the ready rack buff it practically always has a 4s reload rate with a great aphe at 5.0. Not to mention it’s pretty fast for what it is and has decent survivability despite the back of the turret being open, I guess its not popular enough that people know you can kill it with over pressure. Cas can and will fuck you up though, but then again when don’t they.

Tbh have you tried on making the secondary weapon not fire at the same time as the primary weapon? it can really save you ammo and give you a chance if in case you runned out of main guns ammo

I was very surprised that Spookston didn't have the secondary fire bound. it really is super useful on tanks like this.

Suggestion: try out the leopard 1, Its in a spot at 7.3 where it does very well, and in downtiers, faces WWII tanks that don't stand much of a chance, But also works decently well in upteirs against most vehicles due to the APDS or the HEATFS round it gets (I personally prefer APDS)

the reason the m6A1 heavy never saw service was cause it was considered obsolete by the time it was ready to enter service, the us would get a heavy tank into action near the end of ww2 the m26 pershing which was originally classified as a heavy tank, but got reclassified as a medium tank after ww2 ended

0:42 Literally bounced three panther shots with my turret face today

spookston pls do a video on the cm11, it gets dm63 at 9.0, it has an m60 body with a m48 turret on top but it has ERA, it also gets the m60 cannon which means that it has a faster reload time then the original m60 but with great rounds.

4:22 I can explain why. The front hull is volumetric hell. Although 80mm, it has loads of edges and overlapping parts that makes penetration by guns like the Russian 76 impossible. The M6 was the bane of my existence as a 3.7-4.3 USSR player, since it was nearly impossible to penetrate if the hull was facing towards you. Thankfully the M6 and the KV-1(C) got uptiered to 5.0 meaning that 3.7 players no longer need to dread them and they are less common in their BR range since they aren’t as clubby anymore.

i love the m6a1 and the t1e1 the 2 guns are so nice eventhough the 37mm gun wont penetrate most of the medium or heavy tanks you will face at this br but still you can 1 shot a lot of enemys with a good aim
