@@TekoKYLO Not being able to eat solid food isn't just an everyday thing that can affect people, it's serious, so I don't know why the doctors don't care. There has to be someone out there who can help you. I recommend asking around. Not just googling doctors near you, but asking neighbors, friends, etc. And see who they go to. I used Nextdoor to find a cardiologist. I get told my issues are "anxiety" when they really aren't and I know that. My psychiatrist knows that, heck, even my endocrinologist for my thyroid knows something else is happening! (Except my physicians don't seem to care... they write it off as anxiety) . So I asked neighbors who they see and who will actually listen to my issues and not dismiss me. I have a list of recommendations now, but I haven't had time to looks for appointments cuz I'm busy lol. Oh well, gonna try in the future to get my health back in order.

I’m from the UK. My wife gave birth to our son in an NHS Hospital. Epidural, gas, antibiotics, surgery, 2 night stay, 3 meals a day. Checking over my son for 2 days to make sure he’s ok, weighing him, testing reflexes, sight, etc. It cost us absolutely NOTHING! I drover my wife to the hospital and parked in their car park (which cost about £24 for 2 whole days) which is the only thing I paid. All medical care was free. As soon as we walked into the hospital and she was clearly in labour, nurses just sprung into action! Ran over with a wheelchair, checked her over and wheeled her up to the birthing ward. Had our own private room just me and her, with doctors popping in and out to install the epidural, check on her and make sure she and the baby are ok. The private room had a lovely view of our towns! When the epidural kicked in, it took several hours for her to be fully dialated, so we just chilled and talked all night! Played games on our phones and just chilled. The Epidural was doing a terrific job - really took the pain away from her! When time to push, he came half way out and wouldn’t move any further. They wheeled us straight into surgery and got him out absolutely fine! This all cost absolutely nothing! I don’t know why Americans are so against “socialist” healthcare! It works, I’m telling you with first hand experience, it works! Your police dept is socialist, as is your fire dept, schools, libraries, etc. What’s one more thing that’s gonna stop you from going bankrupt just because you happened to get cancer?? The fact people are against it makes absolutely no sense at all. But as they say “only in America”

I had a primary care doctor tell me that there was no way I had dislocated and rolled it back into place on my own (accidentally and three days later). My husband (the child of an R/N) tells her to take X-rays and check my shoulder. She refused. Went to a chiropractor about a year later for back issues and he asked if there were previous injuries he needed to know about. Once my back issues (spine being pulled out of alignment due to a huge knot of muscle) he Xrayed my shoulder and found minor damage to the socket that is very common with dislocated joints. When I finally got a decent doctor, he sent that X-ray to her and whenever I go in for a yearly physical, she X-rays my shoulder to keep an eye on it

It doesn’t appear to hurt as much as it should. I’m 50 now. Turns out I have a connective tissue disorder that causes you to dislocate easily, and it doesn’t hurt nearly as much when you dislocate it or break it. But it does just as much damage to the joint and cartilage when you injure them! The damaged joints sure hurt now…

@Geek Chick ROTFLMAO. You know what some of the problem is in Healthcare? People LIE to doctors. They do not listen either. They take medication until symptoms go away. Or ask for medicine They don't really need but they heard about. Or they want narcotics for pain they don't have but want that feeling of escape. They eat garbage and then come in howling I've done EVERYTHING to lose weight so gimme a magic cure or surgery. Willing to mutilate a perfectly good organ instead of taking responsibility for their eating habits and exercise. Usually holding a sugar filled soda or Starbucks cup and a bag from McDonald's. Eating French fries. I know that for a flat fact. I'm a doctor. Yes, doctors make mistakes. Frequently it's because people don't tell us everything. My ex husband was a perfect example. He was a cocaine junkie. He developed a specific cardiac lesion seen only in coke users. He flat lied to the Dr who did his cath. I told the doctor the truth. He said he already knew he was lying. Meanwhile, he was continuing to use it. One of the reasons I dropped his butt. He LIED.

I remember getting hurt on the job, and they sent me to this worker comp doctor. The dude made me wait for so long while I was in pain and came in, barely looked at my x-rays, and just told me I had a strain. I told him I knew what a strain was, and this pain was no strain. He legit called me a hypochondriac. I got fed up after a few more visits and had a nurse from the company with me, and I was not improving. I was getting worse. He just got annoyed with me and wouldn't even see me, and it pissed the nurse off. I eventually said screw this and went and got my own doctor. Dude did some more x rays, looked at my mri scans ( told me if it was possible to get another mri scan as apparently the scans I had were terrible which makes sense since the women taking my mri said it was a faulty machine and they took the scan 3 TIMES. ) He looked at my x-rays and actually took time to look at them and measured the spacing between them and realized why I was in so much pain. My L4 and L5 were turned into 2 different directions, and L4 was crooked. It was pinching a nerve to which it had caused nerve damage as well, and due to my muscles being locked for so long ( over a year), my left side was starting to recieve damage as well. The doctor told me that if you just look at the x-rays, it doesn't seem obvious. I never wanted to kill a doctor before, but I wish I could have killed that worker comp doctor. I had been in so much pain that I couldn't lay down in bed and had been sleeping in a recliner, and the guy was making out like I was crazy.

The assistant doing a very painful evaluation a very specialized ENT's office after I'd been coughing violently for 6 months straight: "have you tried not coughing?" My husband had to put his hand on my leg to remind me not to kill the stupid assistant. I think she still heard the venom in my voice. It was bad enough this was the second trip to this clinic after they'd pawned me off on a PA the first time instead of the doctor I'd been sent to see specifically. She openly admitted she didn't know what was wrong but wanted to try a specific medication. When I asked if it interfered with a medication I was on that interfered with a ton of other medications she said, "oh, yeah, you'll need to stop taking that." "Um, so you're telling a mental health patient to go off your meds." "I'm sure your psychiatrist can find something else." "So you want me to go off a medication that is working very well for a known disorder so you can try a medication that may or may not work for a disorder I may or may not have. I'm not comfortable with that." "Well, if you aren't willing to accept my help then there's nothing I can do for you." I was able to see her notes later and labeled me "uncooperative". I had been waiting 2.5 months for that appointment. I went back to the pulmonologist who told me to go to the doctor at that clinic and told her what happened. She excused herself. I heard her raised voice from the other end of the clinic but couldn't make out her words. She came back in and said, "They're going to call you within the hour to schedule a new appointment. If they don't call or offer you an appointment in the next 2 weeks with Dr. ___ call my nurse and I'll get it sorted out." To this day she is one of the best doctors I've ever had the pleasure of having. 2 weeks later the doctor saw me, apologized profusely for everything to that point and diagnosed me immediately. I was on a common medication that played well with my other meds and had relief from my symptoms within days. The med the PA wanted wouldn't have worked.

Solution? "go home and try not to stress out too much"..awesome..currently owe about 200k in ER bills, 5k for an ambulance, and i dont even know how much from the private bills because the docs at the ER all have separate billing. I probably have bills floating around I dont even know I have. Takes 4 months to get an appointment with my "primary care" doc, who sends a nurse to see me instead. Never answers the phone. Cant figure out how to bill my insurance so half of my appointments get cancelled while i try to get the insurance and doctor to talk to each other. Its a shitshow. I'm pretty much regretting every trip to the doc because they're always finding things they want to double check on "just in case" which always turn out benign, but I'm stuck with paying for the entire bill because my insurance says the tests were unnecessary. This is why I can't afford anything.

  • @m_d1905

You xan refuse these tests. You are not required to accept every test offered to you. Or better yet, get the info from your doctor and call the insurance before you go get it. If the insurance says to won't pay or ots not necessary, put it back on your doctor to get pre authorization for these tests.
