    We love your videos and the behind-the-scenes access. Interviewing is a skill like anything else, and yours will improve naturally over time. You just need to let the interviewee guide the interview - they're the experts of their own haunts. Looking forward to seeing more videos of this type in the future!

    I’m going to do it the same way every time. I came with ZERO written questions, the questions just come to me as we’re moving around their location. I’m not doing an interview I’m having a conversation on camera. BTW let’s not forget in this industry, I’m considered at least I home I’m considered (LOL) an EXPERT on the subject. So a lot of the questions I’m asking I already know the answers, I’m trying to ask questions and spark conversation that other people might want to know. I feel mission accomplished. I really think the information Gene provided is worth 100 PAID seminars at conventions and tradeshows. Gene provides the information for FREE, but remember I’m TRYING to provide information myself. Let me give you an example. When he’s talking about why he’s not charging for parking, most people wouldn’t understand his reason. Why? Because he didn’t explain it clearly, I picked up on that and explained WHY. The reason he doesn’t charge for parking is because he’s overwhelmed as it is with cars, it would slow down the process by 50%, causing a bigger problem. So I picked up on what he meant and explained it. This is the benefit of me doing these videos is because I understand what he’s saying. I have a similar problem at my Creepyworld but we still charge for parking but when the crowds are POURING IN we STOP charging for parking. We have no choice. This is just an example of where I jumped in to explain something. Either way I’m having CONVERSATIONS with these owners which I feel inspires better content. Take it or leave it! I’m doing this for the benefit of the industry not myself!!

    Happy New Year Larry from your old pal the Reaper! Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed this video, I was very impressed with the honesty and passion that Mr. Schopf showed, not many haunters would be that willing to tell what they paid for things or how they came to own them. I thought you asked some really good questions about things that aren't typically talked about, in particular hayride safety. Field of Screams is truly a distinguished haunted attraction that does the industry proud.

    Why didn’t you ask him why he doesn’t pay his actors? All haunts could be great if they didn’t have to lay the labor cost. Just sayin

  • @Hauntworld

    @Hauntworld

    6 ай бұрын

    I will answer that question for you in a very fair way. I didn't ask that question because I'm not going down that rabbit hole. Furthermore the actors don't have to perform there its a choice. Clearly they enjoy being part of the staff and its a choice they're making. How can you argue what people are willing to do with their free time? Being honest haunted houses do not make that much money and labor is your biggest expense. By not paying actors it has probably allowed them to keep that place going by buying all the houses around it, improving the overall attractions. With all that being said if all the actors STOPPED working for free then that approach would end right? But they keep coming so they must love being there. So I can't argue. BTW probably 50 to 70% of every single haunt that opened last year had volunteer actors. This isn't new.
