America Ferrera, I want you to know that my teenage daughter, who is Honduran, looks up to you so much. You have been such a wonderful role model for her. She even did a book report on your book. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We love you and are rooting for you always!

She raised an entire generation with Ugly Betty, The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants (i wish there was a third movie so that it can complete as a trilogy), How To Train Your Dragon trilogy, Superstore, and now Barbie, what an incredible career she has. So happy for the recognition that she has been getting 🤗

"He plays Tom Hanks very well" - loved that :) PS There's an interview on Graham Norton with Tom Cruise and other actors from Mission Impossible and Simon Pegg said he is Tom, colleague, friend and then he becomes Tom Cruise, smiling and waving to his fans.

The speech in Barbie owes its inspiration to Linda Bloodworth-Thompson, the writer of Designing Women, and the rants she wrote for the Julie Sugarbaker character.

She was definitely given *the* definitive monolog, as illustrated in the opening clip here. It’s really at the nexus of the movie-an iconic scene moment that will be clipped and shown forevermore in montages (and justifiably so)-and she delivered it splendidly. The Oscar may very well go to her, put over the top by that standout segment alone.

You definitely not in the minority at least I don't think so. I was annoyed by all the commercials previews Etc her performance is why my opinion on this movie changed. It just felt way too geared towards teenage and 20 something women but then I watched it with my teenage daughter and the last half of this movie was quite amazing to say the least, especially this

Gloria was the soul of Barbie. It's not Barbie or Ken. Only America Ferrera deserved the Oscar nom. How the bloody hell did Charles Melton not get nominated but Gosling did is like the gravest injustice

I went to see the premiere and it was a sea of pink-clothed and overjoyed people. We all clapped and hooted after she finished her speech. It's hard to explain how LOVED this movie is. It's amazing to hear a packed theater belly laugh. It was beautiful fun.

this is a great monologue that probably sums it up alright, but i can't really relate to it. was i just lucky in the work place and relationships? does this come with having kids (which i don't have and won't since i am in my 50s)? why do women feel so insignificant and that it's always their fault? granted we got the short end of the stick, but i just just don't feel that way. honestly asking and not for a friend!

I gave a friend a similar speech about being gay in this day and age; how challenging it is to find a partner, how society accepts you; it goes up and down, and how you have to hide behind a personae for some people and act straight, and how it hurts to grow old, alone, missing out on your own family. I didn't get an Oscar nomination. Why? LOL
