    To be honest: for a long time i wished the singer should shut up as well, not because of his screamig but because i only wanted to hear those amazing riffs. This band has its roots in a part of Belgium where the first world war has left fields full of trenches, bones, bombs, blood and militairy cemeteries. Amenra is very much inspired by this part of history, which makes the psychotic screaming of the singer totally relevant. Anyway, i saw them live a few times and it really is an amazing experience, it´s like a cleaning for the mind and soul.. It feels like the singer (all the time with his back to the audience with a huge cross tattoed on it) takes the pain of everybody in the audience, absorbes it and screames it out into the universe where it belongs.. Top notch band man!

    Saw them yesterday with Converge and they were killer. They had black and white projections behind them. All of the band facing us but the vocalist facing the back of the stage and his big ass tattoo... I felt like it was a kind of metaphor or something as we could all identify ourselves to the vocalist for not knowing exactly what he looks like and who he is (It was my first time seeing them). There is so much pain and emotion in the vocals and the guitars just drone the same note and it builds up. Fucking great.

    Personally, I adore post metal style vocals. How it is a part of the wall of sound as opposed to on top of it. Makes me think of being IN a tornado instead of watching it from a distance. It makes the instrumentation even more powerful. It is exactly what I plan of doing with my industrial/metal project if I ever manage to get it going. sigh... I REALLY need to find a guitarist. And thanks for the upload! These guys are one hell of a find!

I think the vocalist only adds to the sheer intensity of such a great album, and that's saying a lot considering I've listened to metal and its many subgenres evolve for nearly 16 years now.

    @zrinkamatezovic1535

    6 жыл бұрын

    @Tim Brown As post-rock came after the rock genre and has nothing to do with form of verses and choruses anymore, so did post-metal. Longer instrumentals (but not similar to heavy metal solages), powerful, often melodic riffs which are 90% of time really slow paced. Vocals are second important in this kind of music. Intrumentalization is in the 1st place. First they called it "atmospheric sludge". ISIS started first, you MUST give them a listen; In the Absence of Truth, Panopticon, Oceanic and Wavering radiant albums. If someone has something to add about this, I'm curious to know! Thanks :)

    Amazing music, but can't stand the vocals (well, I am persevering through it). I actually like the vocals of ISIS (the band), Sumac, Rosetta, Cult of Luna etc., but this guy is literally shrieking like torture metal....

    He has a very unique primal vocal, which I like a lot. What better way to convey the intensity of the Post Metal genre than to incorporate vocals that sound like you're fighting for your life ?

    These vocals are coming from a man who had a lot and i do mean a goddamn lot of shit in his life. He lost a lot of people he loved in a short amont of time and he is singing about all his loss and anger in life in a decoded way with a voice that makes my skin crawl.... you need to understand his life to understand their music.

    I hear no riffs here or melodies or whatsoever. Why the hell is this band popular?

    I guess not everything is to everybody's taste and that is a good thing, but you obviously miss the point of this music completely. Btw, I have rarely heard more bone crunching riffs than on an AmenRa record.

    Very good interesting creative music. Horrible boring lead singer. The singer really ruins the music completely. There are so many bands I would love to listen to like Cult of Luna or Fall of Efrafa or Isis and they make amazing music, then the singer just takes a big shit all over the album.

    Calling something "a big shit" simply because it's not what you're used to is rather low, mate. ;)

    I like all of the bands you mentioned, but completely disagree about the lead singer. I actually don't think the music would work without his vocals. It you don't like it, then you don't understand it and it's not for you.
