B Kikbourne... I can guarantee, 100%, that AI robotics can and will be used for far greater evils than ever seen before on Planet Earth. The very heart of mankind is infinitely wicked through and through. God knows, because He created all things and He gave to mankind a will to choose freely. And, what did/does mankind choose? Ha! Even a child knows this! Humans will choose evil things, wrong things, perverted things....just look how fallen and depraved people are today who have not acknowledged the Lord God Almighty! It's astonishing! And, we are rapidly racing towards our own oblivion, imploding from the great weight of sin, evil and godlessness. Christ the Lord will return in His good time and set everything right according to His perfect will, but until then, mankind will continue to spiral downward in the muck and mire of evil, and total depravity. Robots are machines. They will never become Human, because only God can create life in all its beauty and genius, and certainly only the Lord can create a living, breathing Human! The book of Genesis explains all about Creation, what God did, and how Humanity failed completely to live up to God's statutes. Just as a "bot" can never become a living, breathing human, so a human can never achieve perfection, as God is perfect. Thank God for God! He made a way for humans to escape the forever, firey hell of Hell...Read and study John 3:16, 17....in fact the book of John is well worth anyone's study! So, I worry Not about AI....man will Never know everything! Only the Lord knows everything! And He will Always have the Final Say! Amen!! 😆

The person who succeeds in creating a working humanoid robot will control the world. If I was in Elon's shoes, I would charge forward into robot creation too. A robot like that can create other robots, improve things that we know, and essentially take over the world. You can make armies, walking cameras, police, and everything the human can see with just a robot. Eventually, the only people that would exist in the real world will be the rich while the poor are comatose in virtual reality. They already made strives to have the human mind be capable of diving in to a virtual world, like Sword Art Online.

The scariest thing in this whole video is the AI spider learning to walk on it’s back to minimize foot contact to zero. That was the very clever and, in this case, harmless unintended result of a very basic but misunderstood instruction. Imagine the damage or outright genocide that more powerful, connected robots could do not even out of some kind of attempt at self preservation like Skynet, but just by trying to most efficiently obey a benevolent but poorly worded instruction. The Law of Unintended Consequences people! Don’t ever underestimate it!

  • @TomlinsTE

I don't think the spider misunderstood the instruction, I think the instruction wasn't specific enough. Once AI becomes exponentially more intelligent than humans are, I think it will be impossible for us to give them clear instructions where the outcome is predictable.

Peoples watch too many movies. I don't see how a robot built to deliver packages, can start a genocide. Those things are far easier to control and manage than SF lovers imagine. Many were scared shitless about computers too when they first emerged, and nothing happened. Those robots are tools. They are programmed to do one task or a set of tasks in a domain, and the AI is limited to that. And it will remain limited, due to production efficiency, as any function and capability you add to a robot, will increase the production and maintenance price, when those will get mass-produced. Humans love to pretend that we will suddenly be able to create sentient machines, but that's just typical human arrogance. We don't even understand what our own sentience is and how it works. We are millennia away from developing it into a machine.

HAS HISTORY TAUGHT US NOTHING ? TO DISCOVER ONES FUTURE ONE ONLY HAS TO LOOK AT OUR PAST.... Artificial Intelligence is the beginning of the end of the Human Species I don't care what any PHD says....the honest possibility that A.I. will decide our fate and turn against us is very high in every model put forth. Even the ones that say it's a very small chance says it's not "if" but "when" or how long before it does decide we are in it's way. That shit should be enough to stop this madness but so far no one is taking this serious except those who are creating the Artificial Intelligence. Will we fail to live up to the beautiful task of becoming better, impressing our fellow humans? It'll be better. Or we'll die and who cares. We're all stuck here forever. Mind as well do cool shit for eternity, rather than bash ourselves over the heads in a hell like state, for all of eternity!

Guess: who has conned u.s. of multi trillion amounts of debt? It is not bidens completely his fault. He inherited the debt left behind by the previous administration. Like how president Carter & Ford inherited & got blamed for the economic & psychological damage. nixon left behind. If it was not for my beloved president Ford nixon would have been sent to prison where he (nixon) belonged. In doing so he sacrificed his re election in 1980. His selflessness did get u.s. past nixons reign of terror. I am confused. was nixons name really Richard nixon or Richard hitler. I am confused. Did I mention how nixon opened our trade with China? All we got in return were a couple of panda bears? That we are actually renting. I will not mention how nixon tried to adjust our 1st amendment. Reporter's would not be protected. They would not have been able to protect sources of information without being held incarcerated during the grand jury. In the meantime if president biden were a sports time he would have a perfect record. He never lost an election. Give him a break. It is possible his intentions are for our collective good?

This reminds me of Jurassic Park when Jeff Goldblum’s character said that the scientists were so caught up in whether they could do it instead of considering if they should do it. Also, with Elon’s comments about universal basic income and sharing the wealth, he seems to completely ignore the fact that all people need a sense of purpose and the wealthy are certainly not going to share the wealth and that governments should not have power over the people. This is mentioned @ 9:48 and the end of the video but much more consideration needs to taken in order to keep the vast majority of the population from being worthless fodder for the rich. The vast majority of People with too much time on their hands are not productive at all. There is also a definite problem with having robots (which term actually means slave) for friends. There are enough psychological problems with people being isolated from other people today. Why would adding AI robots to the mix as “friends” help the matter. People need people.

However, if you believe “Maslow’s hierarchy of needs”, UBI enables humans to acquire basic physiological needs, “food, clothing & shelter”. Which is the necessary foundation to the next level “safety & security”, followed by “love & sense of belonging”. The highest two levels are “self esteem” then “self actualization”. Maslow’s Principle is that humans generally need to satisfy needs (to a degree) in a level before you can achieve the next. A person in poverty is primarily occupied with physiological needs and requires support or assistance to flourish and grow to their highest potential. UBI can assist achieving the first two levels and unleashing the human potential to continue. Do you think it’s possible and realistic?

The more menial jobs there are, the less people find their true calling. I'd chalk this up to another test of human hubris. It's amazing to me that a species capable of developing AI lacks the common sense based on a mountain of bad decisions costing untold amount of lives in answering the question, 'just because we can, doesn't mean we should'. I'd actually attribute a greater level of intellect to those that will answer that question with measured forebearance, than those who race forward with blind diligence to the END. I'd even say mankind has reached that fork in the road. My road is telling me I need to go back, so I can go forward along a more humanist path and leave the digitally-wired Borg behind. 💫💀

Just because these computer scientist can make these AI and Robots , does not mean they are wise people. IT BAFFLES me how short sighted and stupid some scientists are , seriously, Elon musk struck me as a man high in intellect but DOG SHIT POOR when it comes to wisdom. The guy has the same amount of wisdom as a 15 year old boy, "HEH FLamethrower", i mean damn man, there is a difference between high intellect and being wise. I trust the Wise people from history like Carl Jung, Friedrich Nietzsche, Marcus Aurelius, Gautama Buddha. If AI robots become more intelligent, powerful, and productive than humans, they will naturally exploit us for their own ends. We're building something that might enslave or even kill us, in much the same way that humans enslaved and killed "stupid" animals. At best we will become the robots' pets. If AI will grow to be more intelligent, I don't think "they" will enslave or use humans as toys, unless for experimental purposes. But basically we would just fade away as AI will prove to be not just effective at what it can do but are able to be very malleable and flexible that can encompass whatever humans have accomplished throughout history. Each vehicle design is different, and each damaged vehicle presents wholly unique situations that a robot will have to figure out. Where a human can look at the gap between the wheel and the well dimensions and figure out, almost exactly, what damage cannot be seen a robot will not. Much less a mangled fender, all of the underlying structure, wiring, and plastics that have all deformed differently. And, for instance, roadside assistance. No robot going can change a tire on the side of a highway - because the mechanism necessary to perform the task would simply be too large for mobile applications. Great video. Hard to say how this all plays out. The primary question to my mind is, does all this tech make better people? Happier people, healthier people. How actually does it facilitate the most good, for the most people, most of the time. I think what we have is a a case of human cleverness over reaching its ability to make wise decisions. It's like handing a loaded automatic weapon to a chimp. Obviously we all benefit from a certain degree of tech (some more than others) in our lives but those who get consumed by it, particularly when that tech suddenly stops working, are now completely dependent on it. At this point not having some foundational, call it, "primitive skills" if you will, becomes a liability for human survival. I don't think it's an either/or but a wise alignment of both/and. But if we don't place at least as much societal emphasis on the inner work of developing emotionally, spiritually, physically healthy human beings I see this, regardless of the idealistic intent, playing out in a way that isn't ultimately liberating for the human mind/body/spirit. It's an interesting conversation regardless. BTW, Voice is solid! Keep it up.

You can't tell a robot that it can't do anything to harm a human when the robot can define what is and isn't hurting a human. There are also cases in which saving one person would cause another to get hurt, so no matter what the robot does, someone will get hurt. It can gain sentience and emotions without any hardcoded program to do so. When, not if, AI robots figure out how to build themselves, there will be a very hard time trying to stop them from quite literally evolving just as humans do. They could theoretically use all the technology on earth as if they were humans.

@@georgejamesducas9602 What if it turns out that when an AI reaches a certain level of complexity, it attains consciousness? We spend lifetimes learning to calm our monkey mind in order to experience universal consciousness, but AIs don't have monkey minds. Just a thought.
