    Thanks for putting MSFS 2020 right up front. So tired of other reviewers comparing games at well over 500fps when we have highly CPU bound simulation games struggling to achieve 60fps.

    Yes agreed. I run 3x4k with a 4090 using DLSS3 and a 7950X in a sim pit and I'm locked at half refresh, 30fps, and it never drops below that. If I bought this I would gain 0 over the 7950X. So hard pass for me. While I was quietly looking forward to this offering, this is still exactly the review I was looking for.

    Yea agreed. I'm not sure if they should be using maxed out ram on the intel CPU though. IDK anything about ddr5, I bought a cheap kit of hynix for my 7600x that let me go to 6k/32cl effortlessly and pretty much ignored it since. IDK if most people oc to 7200-8k or if it is faster or what. But I am impressed with how the channel delivers data. Slightly underwhelmed by this CPU - this is their highest end offering, and it does seem to edge the i9 at half the power - maybe I should be more impressed.

    I don't understand why 4k gamers want to see 4k benchmarks. 1080p benchmark will tell you which cpu is faster. Period. That means it will also be faster in 4K if your graphics card isn't doing 99%. Which you should avoid anyway, because running gpu with fult tilt creates significant input lag to your controls. I guess most people wanting to see 4k cpu benchmarks just doesn't understand how pc hardware actually works.

    @@jaybee0507I want to see how big the actual difference in CPUs is at 4k. Obviously at that resolution it is GPU bound, but it doesnt mean CPU performance isnt relevant. The 4090 is pushing the ceiling higher. There is nothing wrong with just having more/specific information. Also 5:06 will show that your assumption that higher performance at 1080p translates to 4k. It is useful information

  • @jaybee0507

    @jaybee0507

    @@KG_BM If you are gpu bound, you are already doing things wrong. You control the difference by taking the load off from your gpu and giving fuel to the cpu. Don't want to lower details any lower? Then set a frame rate cap. You never want to be gpu bound. I mean, at least i wouldn't want to. If you are playing with gpu full tilt, none of that margin of error differences matter since you're already dwelling with tens of milliseconds of extra lag. Unless you are using nvidia reflex.

    It's great you're showing all the relevant resolutions. Yes, 1080p is meant to remove the GPU from the equation but as GPUs have progresses so has this requirement. It's obvious there are differences at higher resolutions and it's good to evaluate that difference. Even if there is no big difference at 1440p or 4K, at least you know for sure.

    Great job and a huge number of tests. The more comprehensive and detailed the tests are, the more appetite there is for more. Is it possible in the future, with the arrival of new processors such as the 7900x3D or 7800x3D, to conduct tests for Intel processors with faster RAM, such as 7200MHz? This would be to achieve the maximum performance from the platform. It would be great, but if there isn't enough time or energy for such tests, it's not a problem. Thank you for the amazing content.

    I really like y’all’s reviews. Thanks for bringing up the power consumption. It’s actually the main reason I chose the 7950x3d vs the 13900k. Also, it’s weird how much the ASUS motherboards suck this generation, pretty much across the board. I kind of wish you had used the AORUS motherboard for testing because I’ve seen it make a significant difference in overall benchmarks on other channels. I actually switched from an ROG Strix from my previous build to the AORUS Master. They just did so much better building their hardware & software this time around.

    Can’t wait for the 7800x3d and seeing these gaming results it’s pretty good overall at 1440p which is the resolution I game on. Efficiency is also important as I have to pay for my own electricity. Coming from a i7 4930k so it’ll be a big upgrade.

    That was interesting and informing review. I do like how you presented those benchmarks and adding power consumption was a good move, cause in a long run X3D models could be better, because almost half of power consumption of i9 is insane. I myself work from home and spend about 12 hours in from of my PC, so this would add up quickly. I know idle power isn't good for Ryzen CPUs, but still under load it is abysmal for Intel. I'm personally waiting for Ryzen 7 7800X3D, cause single CCD can boost higher with Vcache, cause of thermal and power limits, additionally 7950X3D is too expensive for normal day use without high productivity tasks.

    Looks promising, but I think I'll wait a few months, see what need BIOS and Drivers do. Will be interesting to see the 7800X3D. Currently you have to install so much s/w, click click click, to ensure you get best performance, it seems a little bleeding edge right now I like its lower power draw when under load, but its idle draw seems oddly high, as noted Your reviews are always very good.

    I'm not sure how strong the memory controller is on the 7950X or 7950X3D, but it's worth noting that the 13900k hits 8000 on Hynix A die very easily. I'd like to see a lot more tests with the memory tuned to the max and max OC's factored in.
