    Great content. Do you have any pointers for anyone sitting for the WBA interview? What sort of questions should we be prepared for? Thanks :).

    Thanks for all the content! Quick one...assuming you get into a WBA program after PGY1, does the WBA program count towards PGY2? Or is it more seen as a continuation of PGY1? Thanks heaps!

    So the WBA happens while you are working full time as a doctor moving up the pgy ladder.

    @@codeyouaustralia Can you do the WBA soon after graduating and writing the AMC CAT mcq without any clinical practice experience?

    Hi Dr Sasha and Dr Caroline, I got a little bit confused with the criteria for getting into WBA program... I know after you pass AMC 1, you can get limited registration, however I was told that with limited registration you cannot work in hospitals yet... so how you can be working at the same hospital where you intent to get admitted for WBA? Sorry for the confusion and thanks a lot for all the info provided through these videos.

    Hi Cristina . You absolutely CAN work with limited registration..We both did it. So if you only have AMC 1 but you land a job then ahpra will give you limited registration. You work with your limited registration as you try to pass one of the two clinical exams ( wba or AMC 2). Once you pass and if you have completed your 47 weeks of supervised practice you can then apply for general registration. Check out our standard pathway video on our channel to remove any confusion.

    The amazing thing is ANYONE can get into a hospital that offers WBA. If your hospital offers it...you are in.

    Hello Dr’s I have one quick question - do we complete after I have limited registration and get WBA assesement , when do I complete the 47 weeks training ?

  • @codeyouaustralia

    @codeyouaustralia

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi, The 47 weeks of training is just you working in an Australian hospital.. however to make it count you need at least 10 weeks of that to be medicine, 10 weeks of surgery and 8 weeks of medicine. WBA is for doctors who are working in Australian hospitals with that program ( not all of them have it on offer). So basically you could be completing your WBA and 47 weeks at the same time. Or you may have started working, then a year later started WBA. Once you finish your WBA you can apply for general registration because that first year counted as your 47 weeks of practice ( as long as your did the med, surgery, Ed requirement I mentioned) so don't need to do more work to apply for general registration

    @@codeyouaustralia This is very helpful!! I have one more question from your past experiences- is it possible that people do their WBA and 47 weeks of training at the same exact time ? I mean do programs let you be part of their WBA program if you end up landing job in WBA program hospital. Because I saw online rockhamport QLD is currently offering WBAA position .

    @@DRSKAUR79 so you can only join the WBA program of your hospital. If your hospital doesn't have one then you can't join a WBA program. While working you complete the WBA program so your 47 weeks can be done at the same time. Just remember 47 weeks needs to be ( min 10 weeks surg, 10 weeks med, 8 weeks ED)

    Can an IMG who has not done internship go thru the WBA route after passing AMC 1 by applying to a WBA hospital to work?

  • @codeyouaustralia

    @codeyouaustralia

    Жыл бұрын

    Absolutely. So here is how it would work. You apply for an internship ANYWHERE- they are harder to get. If a hospital who runs the WBA program, offers you an internship. You complete your internship and then apply for the WBA program- once completed you can then apply for general registration. If a hospital offers you an internship but they DONT have a WBA program you can either finish your internship at that hospital and try to apply for a pgy2 role at a hospital that has a WBA PROGRAM. You move workplaces - and eventually apply for the WBA program at your new workplace.
