Wow it’s been 20 years since I was a projection manager at AMC. I remember building my own custom trailer reels and showing them to my coworkers on screening nights. I would use a lot of these different clips in them.

I was a projectionist for a few years at my AMC, along with 3 others and our projection manager. We were the last one in New Jersey to go digital. It was the saddest day when we were relinquished to usher duties. I quit shortly after.

I was a projectionist for AMC from 2012 till last year. When I do movie streams for friends, I have a playlist I can swap 80's/90's trailers in and out of, as well as the old Regal and AMC bumpers for that "You're at the movies feel". I loved working projection, but it ended up getting so automated this past year that I wasn't needed anymore, and wasn't in the mood to go back to working down stairs, so figured I'd just take my leave and do it as a hobby.
I worked at an AMC in Southern California as a high school kid in the mid-to-late 80s. Seeing these bumpers brings back a whole lot of memories. I loved working there.

Am I the only one that thinks AMC’s logo is kinda timeless? It looked good back in the day and it still looks good now.
The title says it's from 1980- (onward), but not really. Starting in June, 1975 about to enter the 8th grade, I remember seeing "the first" feature bumper before the start of The Towering Inferno, Airport 1975, Jaws, Let's Do It Again, Grizzly, Race with the Devil, The Shaggy D.A., Logan's Run, Freaky Friday, The Spy Who Loved Me, Saturday Night Fever, The Rescuers, Caddyshack and Used Cars. All at the AMC Puente Six Theaters in Puente Hills, Calif. What an enjoyable era that was. I've been looking for that "first" bumper (with the old movie stars shown) for a couple of years now. Thank you sooooooo very much RetroMan. Extremely impressive for tracking all this down. :))))
Started going to our local AMC back in ‘82, started working there in ‘90, and closed that theatre down in ‘07. An integral part of my life and I remember bumpers older than these. Long live Clip!
I'll never forget the amc film Mascotte from my early childhood
Here's some more info about these. 0:27 started the "There Is A Difference" campaign, which they touted was the first chain to introduce a customer service program. A lot of theaters back then had pretty terrible service standards, sticky floors, rude employees, bad sound, scratched prints, etc. AMC overhauled their entire approach. This piece was filed in Kansas City at their then flagship theatre in Oak Park. There is one missing and I'll link it here and it came right after this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h3akmsyym7G3nJs.html 1:04 was the beginning of digital animation in the 90's and it was used for a couple years I remember. This sounded great in Dolby and we always played the trailers in mono and kicked over to stereo with the Feature Presentation trailer. A metal band was placed at the beginning of the trailer and the projector read it to advance the sound into stereo. This is why sometimes the first few seconds of the bumper would sound low and BOOM it would kick into stereo. The projectionist would place the band at the wrong spot. This bumper was the last one before "Clip" was introduced. And you see him introduced at 1:30.
Thank you so so so much for uploading this. Trying to find the 2014- feature presentation for such a long time now
All these movie theater bumpers were so inspiring, that I decided to make 1 for my channel.
Just so everyone knows, bankruptcy doesn't mean the end of a company. What it means is they're temporarily pushing aside their debts in order to pay them off, and in the process they can't have the companies or banks they owe close any of their theaters. It's just a way to reorganize themselves and their theaters. Companies file for bankruptcies all the time.
I miss the film reel mascot. There was just this charm about it that these round dots don't hold up.
I cannot lie, some of these memories brought a tear to my eye.
I don’t remember any of these and growing up we frequented an AMC theater near us.

What was the theme song/bumper music that began feature presentations for a competing theater chain back in the late 70's? It went something like, "dah dah dah tee dah ta dah dah (high hat high hat high hat).....and the graphics looked like a strip of film moving around to turn into the shape of a projector? I know it's a long shot, but I worked as an usher for a summer at one of their theaters in Tampa!
I think I remember the fourth one in front of The Lion King! Thanks so much for compiling these! God bless
