That number 42 , I was hauled by that from a "catastrophic" accident to NMH , I have worked downtown the last few years, and I do believe it has the loudest horn of any of them. That thing has been a daily reminder , sometimes multiple times a day. Going to miss it tomorrow working in the suburbs....

Well, this is using the Federal Q siren. A "normal" ambulance would probably use "normal" wail, yelp, etc. tones.

I bet it's a whole new experience driving code in a big city like that... It seems like most the drivers respect the red lights though..

Listening the sirens without looking at the video has a really bad effect on my imagination, I started to feel like being in a apocalyptic day, like the end of the world, where people run everywhere, crying and screaming. I think I've seen too much apocalyptic movies.....Yeah, absolutely.

Fahr mal in amerika, da is bissl mehr verrkehr als bei uns ;). Bei denen is die Fharweiße denk ich anders... wir fahren schnell an der verkehr ran und kurz bevor wir stehen, wird erst die orgel angemacht. Die Orgeln quasi dauerhaft, und fahren dafür flüssiger durch den verkehr durch als wir. Kommt zumindst mir so vor.

I just watched the video over and the clips are from different times. Therefore the light could have burned out.

I wish they’d go back to this paint scheme. Not digging the gold on the new ones.

It doesn't really make sense as to why the Chicago fire department got rid of these ambulances or only have them as reserves because these new E350s are horrible. You would think they learned something from 10 to 15 years ago the fact that "E350s in Chicago do not work"

Kann verschiedenste Gründe haben. Unter anderem ist hier auch ein Video mit Patient an Board, da ist irrsinniges rasen eher schlecht. Zum anderen können es auch Notfälle sein bei denen man nicht so schnell hin muss. Wiederrum könnte die alltägliche entspannte Fahrweise ein kleiner Grund sein. In Städten wie Chicago nützt es nicht viel, da schnell ranzufahren und dann stark abzubremsen (ähnlich wie Schinzou sagte), damit macht man sich nur unnötig Stress und baut gar noch Unfälle.

Don't see a reason for the Lightbar. The surface mounts clearly outpower the bar. Two more surface mounts would be far better and cheaper. Lightbar itself is cool though. A guy in New York is selling a few right now right from Chicago FD.

Because it's important to dispatch ambulances immediately to the site of a fire. Fire stations also tend to be more evenly distributed throughout populated areas, strategically positioned for quick response, whereas hospitals are few and far between, located in more centralized locations.
