Spencer Nilsen had the great chance of composing the CD soundtrack of the first Ecco game - and he has truly outdone himself there. Since he was not limited to the capabilities of the Genesis soundchip, Nilsen created completely new and totally different music compared to the cartridge version. It's so hard to describe, because there are so many little sounds and instruments he uses, but everything together works like something you could call an underwater orchestra. Sometimes I thought however, that the music went too strong and distracted from the actual game. Still every track fits the stages it's played in, and when played in your Hifi you got an ultimate soundtrack to relax and enjoy.

Sega always does it right when it comes to the music for their games. Ecco is no exception! The music and game mechanics reallu made you feel like you were swimming as a dolphin.... through sea and space and time! :) Ah nostalgia!!

I find the ocean terrifying, but dolphins are the sole reason why I find it beautiful at the same time. Also, this video is like my 2 favorite things combined, the animal and ambient music. Magical!

I find it fascinating how time and again these dolphins came swimming straight into the camera. I especially like the one at 2:28, he just soars intentionally right at the camera. I wonder what it was that engaged these animals with not only curiosity but what seemed to be intentness of purpose. Towards the end it's as if they were getting in front of the cameraman to stop him from wandering and demanding he give them all his attention. Thanks for sharing this experience with some of God's amazing creation.

Well done! I have been collecting Spencer Nilsen's work ever since Ecco came out. Nice job syncing it to actual footage! Do you have other videos for the songs not played in this one? My favorite was the music first heard on the "Ridge Water" level.

It's so nice and relaxing to see the dolphins in the ocean. What I think is sad is people in other parts of this world want to kill off such a nice animal that there are a decrease in numbers. Why can we just leave a nice creature like the dolphin alone and let them live in peace. What did we do to the dolphins that made us want to kill off a lovely animal? I am reminded in the Michael Jackson Earth Song "What about animals, what about us?" I think it is the same with the whales as well.
