I’ve heard there are certain Amazon stores that have completely cashierless technology. In other words, you scan the app at the door, the sensors in the store can detect whenever you remove something from a shelf and they automatically add the item to your list. Once you’re done, you simply walk out the door and the app automatically charges you for the items. Not sure if Amazon is implementing this shopping cart technology in place of the technology I just mentioned, but it’s definitely worth mentioning.

Nice, that's some next level stuff. Here in Sweden we've had self scanning for many years already, a small handheld device that we manually need scan the barcode, but can pack down in bag and check summary as we go along in the grocery store. Obviously an easier way someone can steal, however it also does comes up sometimes at checkout - that employee needs to scan about 1/3rd of the items I scanned, to see so it's correct. That gets less as you 'level up' in their system of many shopping rounds.

Went to an Amazon fresh store for the first today that opened close to my house, I had a great experience shopping there and everything is so high tech and convenient it was almost overwhelming. I loved the selection of organic food they had which is good for me since im trying to follow a healthier lifestyle, plus the prices are pretty reasonable compared to another store like it. I shop at jewels mostly and I know for a gallon of milk and a box of cereal it's about $10, but I purchased milk, cereal, a frozen pizza, guacamole dip, and iced tea, and it came out to almost $13. Saw a bunch of Amazon employees zooming around the store shopping for people who ordered their groceries online which is a nice service they offer. My only complaint is the fact I work for Amazon at a fulfillment center, but yet they don't offer discounts for people who work for the company even for the employees who work in the store themselves. All in all, I had a pretty good experience and Amazon fresh might be my store of choice from now on.

  • @carlospuente6897

Lmao they don’t offer discounts because the they are selling the food so cheap, in order for them to grow by undercutting prices. They are eventually gonna put all you guys out of work with machines, and every other company that produces the food merchandise you consume. But they will keep the same brand name to hide the fact they own it.

My Amazon Fresh had a different checkout method until recently. They had gates at entrance and checkout where you scan your QR code. Just regular carts and on the ceiling of the store were thousands of cameras that detected exactly what you take. I liked this way as if I just needed to run in and grab something quick it was easy and flawless. Now they introduced these carts and got rid of the gates. There's scanners inside the cart so you just scan and put the item in. Was a little confused at the dash cart method but the workers there are all very nice and showed me what to do. I like both methods for different reasons, but I will say it's super nice to have the list of items in your cart with your total as you shop. You couldn't do that with the gate method so if you saw something that you thought was cheaper than it was you'd see that later and there wasn't a lot you could do.

You don't need one they still have regular checkouts to pay normally. But having an Amazon account allows you to simply walk out the store with the bags through the checkout lane he showed, and it will charge whatever payment options are in the Amazon account you choose. It's neat to be honest. No waiting in lines.

Not sure how I'd get my meat and fish though - there wasn't anyone behind the counters at all! Other than that, I'll definitely be going back. Did'nt know you could open the same kind of store right next to each other. It's like a mom and pop pizzaria opening next to each other. I guess the town municipal does'nt care as long as they get their cut of the tax revenue.
