I got lucky, I bought the Kindle Oasis in 2020, I had a job that paid much more than my previous jobs and considering how much I read I could justify the price. I also had a new AMEX card and to my surprise, they offsetted 50% of the cost. But I have to say, even if I had paid the full price, I would be happy with it. It's so much better than the paperwhite I had before and it's so light and I like how I can adjust the lighting, so my husband isn't bothered if I read in bed when he's sleeping/trying to sleep. I'm not superfan of amazon, but Oasis is one of the best things they've done. Sadly, it doesn't seem like they are continuing with it. But then again, I don't need an upgrade for awhile...

I use my Oasis the same way! I read it mostly at night when my wife is falling asleep. And I'm jealous that Amex helped with the cost! I hope that they aren't truly discontinuing it and that it's just cleaning out inventory to make room for a new model. :(

It's hard to decide if the pros outweigh the price. I was looking into the remarkable 2 is a little bit more and has some added functionality, however, I don't believe it has the same access to ebook content or it can only open certain file formats.

100% agree! The Oasis isn't for everybody. I saw a study recently that said the most Americans start 12 books a year but only finish 6. The Oasis is definitely not for those people. However, somebody like me that finishes 6-12 books a month, it is a great deal! Reading is one of my favorite hobbies and is something I am passionate about. As far as the technology aspect, the Remarkable 2 is an awesome little gadget but I don't think most people will get enough use out of it to justify the expense. It is an e-reader but it's focused more on note-taking and taking data that you feed it. The Oasis is more about allowing you to consume data/books. If you're looking for something similar to the Remarkable 2, I'd recommend checking out the Kindle Scribe. It's less expensive, comes with more features, and supports a lot more file types (including audio). amzn.to/3UukXWI

i checked my battery health its abouyt 75% after 4 years. I am just worried that in a year or two it would become unusable and I wouldn't be able to get a new kindle oasis. Battery replacement is impossible on the kindle oasis 3

I am really starting to wish I'd picked up a new one when they were closing out. Especially because of the lack of physical page turn buttons. I'll probably have to jump to Boox if Amazon doesn't get back in there

I had the Kindle Paperwhite but we returned it and got the Kindle oasis only because of the fact that the power button was placed on the bottom of the Kindle. I'm not sure who designed this but my little finger by the way I was holding the Kindle was constantly powering down the Kindle or it would my leg or something. By the way I was reading in bed or whatever and it was kept powering it down and it was just so annoying. Oh please excuse the punctuations because I'm doing speech to text

I loved my Paperwhite but had lots of weird issues like yours. I ended up getting a case to prevent me bumping the power button. But it was still obnoxious! The Oasis is MUCH better!

Is the kindle oasis 4g better than kindle oasis?

The biggest difference is that the 4G version comes with a cellular connection. The standard Oasis is wi-fi only. I think most people are just fine with the standard Oasis but some people may want the 4G for the added connectivity.
