I thought the same as you did when this first came out, that the sound quality would not be very good. So it's good news that is not true, and just need the speaker pointing in your direction. Great review, your covered everything very thoroughly, thanks of sharing.

I have five 2nd generation echo dots, and one 4th generation dot, and the sound quality of the 2nd generation dot is vastly better than the 4th. Also, the mic is clearly better on the 2nd generation dot, because my 2nd gen dots in other rooms will hear me, when the 4th gen dot in the room I’m in _doesn’t_ hear me. All in all, the 4th gen dot sucks (compared to the 2nd gen) so I’m tempted to try the pop as a replacement, or perhaps try to find a used 2nd gen for sale used somewhere.

Can you connect other Echo Pops together? Thanks for the review!

Yep, you can use this one to connect to other Echo devices as an intercom and also pair two of these together to create a stereo effect for your music. Pretty cool upgrade to the Echo line.

🤔 I wonder if Amazon sells an adapter to convert that power connection into a USB c connection? But, my big issue with this product is the lack of an "aux" connection. All their other products have this connection, which means if you needed it to feel the room, or like our first echo show device, the speaker starks distorting. It can use that aux connection to output sound via another device, which has a greater volume. We have our echo devices connected into our surrounded sound system, this wouldn't be capable of doing this!

I haven't seen an adapter but it would be smart for them to offer it. I also agree about the Audio Output connection being dropped on this new Pop product but I think they were designing it for smaller spaces like your office or the kids room and made it simpler to use. It does have some pretty impressive sound for its size. Thanks for the post!

@Drone Valley Yes, I can see it working as a secondary device - a couple of feet away from you at a desk, or in a kids room, but that limits this product to a small number of scenarios. That would ultimately result in me overlooking this unit, maybe paying just a little bit more for a pod, or a show. Adaptability is key. When was the last time, you watched anything saved onto digital media! It was only a mer handful of years since Blu-ray was the "go-to" home cinema standard! P.S. If there isn't a Barrel plug, to USB c adapter out there, then maybe there could be scope on the market for a "Drone Valley" product to fill the gap...!
