It is not always recording. It is always listening for the Wake Word. Once it hears the Wake Word then it starts recording.

Now, this video was useful, as I was given an Amazon echo dot for my birthday last year 2020, & I am still learning more about this device, however I found having the application for the echo dot on my phone, is easy to integrate as well as navigate with my echo dot, and it has playlists in my history, which I just simply click on my phone 📲 📲 and it plays on my echo dot, without having to use my voice, this is handy especially if one has a sore throat. Next thank you for this video.

I just want to correct a few things mentioned in this video. The device is not always recording. It is always listening for the Wake Word. Once it hears the Wake Word then it starts recording. Skills are not downloaded, they are only enabled. The device does not have any storage to download apps. Everything is done in the Cloud. Some of the things you did in the app can also be done by voice. Ex. changing the Wake Word. Just simply say Alexa change wake word to [insert Wake Word].

*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*

This brings up an interesting question...say you have old 1st/2nd gen echo dots...they don't support sidewalk. But if you add a new echo dot before June 8th 2021 it will show up under "account setting" and you can either disable or enable it...but after June 8th if you add a new echo dot you will not be able to opt-out of Sidewalk.

I reckon I know how to connect because you just need to turn em on. Problem is getting them to do what they should do automatically. ie. connecting to wifi for the first time. No networks found.

You tell people what to do, like get onto wifi, but you don’t tell them how to do it. Many will not know. There’s a lot of “so now that you’ve….” assuming they’ve successfully done it.

I wanted it to connect to my itunes library but I need to subscribe to apple’s music and when I stop the monthly payment it says I can’t access my library? Totally cancels why I bought this thing, plus doesn’t play youtube stuff unless you bluetooth it from another device, so why have two devices going when my phone or ipad alone is just fine without the Echo Dot. Very disappointed.

@@alinadima8015 Go to devices and choose your current device and then look at Wi-Fi networks then click change then choose your network and type the password it will connect

There's no youtube music, I won't buy this item.

You can pair Alexa with you tube through bluetooth. I googled how you enable pairing and I did it quite easily. Now I can listen to KZread through Alexa.

@@nhfraser11 youtube is not integrated, and using it as a bluetooth speaker makes no sense, you lose the ability to control the voice

It does make sense to integrate KZread to Alexa because Alexa responds when you tell it to stop playing KZread music/ tracks and also it responds when you command it to play the next track on my KZread playlist. The only thing it doesn't respond to is when you ask it to play a specific KZread track by name. The sound quality is just as good as the integrated channels on Alexa such as Spotify. For the above reasons I disagree with you.
